Pengerusi NUJ Star balun MCA, Chua Soi Lek dan Rosmah di Twitter

July 2, 2012 at 5:46 am 22 comments

MUTAKHIR #2: NUJ Star baru memberi respons. Sila baca nota kaki.

Tikus panggang: Resipi special BBQ Hannah … enak sekali (gambar Star)

Orang Subang Jaya tangkap tikus, The Star mahu mewawancara Hannah Yeoh.

Jalanraya sesak The Star mahu menemuramah Hannah Yeoh. Banjir The Star mahu memetik pendapat dewi alam itu.

Lihat screenshot (bawah) balas-membalas Tweet pemberita Star Teh Eng Hock.

Menteri-menteri MCA payah dilayan

“I need a drink … painful to do it [trail politicians when] sober” (lihat urutan tweets dalam screenshot bawah).

    .
  • “grilling MBPJ planning officers. Can smell the fear”.

Guan Eng menyasarkan trilion ringgit pembinaan

NOTA:

Misalnya Wong Chun Wai sendiri mengaku: “I come from an English medium school and I am unable to speak or write in Chinese”.

Helen, Me thinks MCA tak ambil tindakan towards Teh and Star ni sebab ramai in MCA juga angan-angan nak tubuhkan negara Kristian. I think Teh ni tak tahu malulah & takda principle. Kalau tak suka, quitlah & cari kerja lain. Duduk situ sebab takda orang lain nak hire ke?

Dalam tweetnya kepada Gan Pei Ling (BFF Hannah Yeoh di S’gor Times), dia ada kata: “Should give out at least 5 more newspaper permits, not just to Malaysiakini. So we have more potential employers”.

Sementara itu, Huaren memiliki 42 peratus saham The Star.

I think the Star lost control of their reporters and editors. Most of them are working for DAP while getting their salary from MCA. While I support that the MSM should provide fair reportage on Pakatan, some of the Star’s reports on key DAP (and not Pakatan) leaders seem to out-do the Rocket.

Did I tell you that some of their Dapsters in the Star had leaked my personal information to the Dear Leader’s Brown Shirts and I had received intimidating messages and calls from these thugs,

I heard from my MCA friends that some of these reporters are not merely supporters but card-carrying members of DAP. It is also suspected that these reporters often leak news about BN and MCA to DAP.

It is also suspected that some of these reporters are writing /contributing to the Pakatan front portals such as MK, MI etec under assumed names or ghost-write for others. I suspect people like Aspan and other DAP Malays are actually not writing their own articles but being written for them.

BTW, it is the same with the Tamil media. Some of the reporters are actually DAP/Pakatan leaders. In fact there is one guy in Penang who is a senior DAP leader and a close associate of Prof Rama.

Aspan writes in BM. Malay representation in ‘Star’ is weak (c.f. S’gor Times). Agree with you about Star having lost control & agree wholeheartedly on Dear Leader’s “thugs’ plus ‘Scissors’ outdoing ‘Rocket’. Make that Scissors IS Rocket in camouflage. — Helen

BTW did you notice even the NST has its “scissors” ? In any case I don’t think we can even categorise the Malay Mail and the Edge as MSM anymore. The worst is the Edge. They are actually manufacturing propaganda.I used to buy the Edge for its quality business news. But these days they are so politically slanted that they are practically The Malaysian Insider’s print version.

Hahaha to The Edge being the print version of TMI. That would make it Christian.

Haven’t been following the structural developments of The Edge since Ho Kay Tat’s departure. Who are its present owners or majority shareholder(s) and what is its political slant?

Helen, perhaps you heard of Tong Kooi Ong, who was/is close to Anwar since his PhilioAllied Bank days. He has bought the Edge and there has been some personnel changes as well with their senior people being replaced.

The new regime is pro-Pakatan and previously they don’t carry political articles but since the change in ownership, they have been carrying pro-Pakatan and anti-BN news. Many of these articles seemed to glorify LGE. This is puzzling as I would have expected them to be closer to Anwar.

Do I detect a subliminal message here, Helen ? Are you impying while Hannah being fearless rat-hunter at Subang Jaya sewers but as a member of SELCAT, she’s still pussy-footing around without catching the real rats in the political sewers of Selangor and the big cats ??

    Nice job, Helen!

MCA Bigwigs, pls cut that wannabe Teh off!!!

Disgraceful to the profession, and a liability to the paper and shareholders.

We ALL know that journos should not take any stand, but the likes of Teh and others in the Star have openly declared their allegiances to DAP/PKR. This means Teh is not capable of wirting or reporting fairly on political stories or politicians. I say take him off the political beat to start with!

Kay Tat is too nice to everybody, or maybe he is consolidating his position. Whatever party that Teh fella is affiliated to, he has broached the fundamental tenets of his professon. We should all condemm Teh equally if he was behaving that way towards the Star’s owners. But then MCA supporters are few and far between in Star.

As to why they did not report on City Harvest even tho there are some branches in M’sia, this could only be explained that someone was adamant to play down the issue here because of the personalities (Hannah Yeoh again and others?) involved.

Kudos to CSL who seem to be a very tolerant and liberal where the Star is concerened – see, who is more liberal now, MCA or DAP? The true colours of both parties are all coming out now,,,,,

I think given the chance, Kay Tat would want to see a better paper, but he’s too high up to intervene into matters concerning a junior like Teh. Still, it has been known for a long while that DAP has had a special position in the paper. But now that the tables are turned, Star vets should be able the discern the real stripes..And stop the likes of Teh who will destroy the paper in the end…..

Ahh. Rasanya Malaysiakini, TMI dll tak perlukan permit akhbar.

The Star dah cukup untuk jadi jentera media pembangkang. Curculation pun bagus. And the best part, MCA yang tanggung. Nice job!

      (1) I think Joceline would make an excellent Chief Editor. Sokong!

      (2) Age-wise I expect that she’s more or less the same cohort as WCW and the ex-CEO HKT, so it should not be an issue.

      (3) I’m a fan of her column. It’s up to this blog’s readers whether they share my assessment or yours.

      (4) As for your name-calling, why not refute her writing with facts of your own?

      msleepyhead,

The Star IS most definitely Gunting dalam Lipatan.

The weakness of a Google search, especially when you have used ‘Anytime’ as opposed to the narrower and specific searches I usually cite, i.e. Past 24 hours, Past Week, Past Month

is that when you get 15,800 Anytime (all-time) search results on ‘Chua Tee Yong’, you can’t possibly verify the individual articles whereas I’d been doing the Past 24 hours or Past Week searches on ‘Hannah Yeoh’, and therefore I can indeed verify that if the Google results showed 5 stories, I could provide 5 matching article titles.

See this page ‘The Chua Soi Lek funny jokes collection‘ where when I said there were 73 Hannah Yeoh articles in the paper, and I actually listed ALL the titles of those articles.

You will not be able to list 15,800 articles mentioning Chua Tee Yong because the figure is incorrect even though the Google search turns up this number. The huge amount of search results is due to the duplication within The Star digital storage system, i.e. a single article may be listed in 10 separate locations.

The trick to weed out the duplication is to go to the last page of the Google results, i.e. page 42 for CTY and page 34 for HY.

See screenshots below. There are about 420 articles on Chua Tee Yong and 335 on Hannah Yeoh.

      null

      null

The more stories there are on a popular name, like say Najib Razak, the (much, much) greater the duplication.

But if we take someone more obscure to The Star, say ‘Ahmad Ton’, the all-time search results turn out only 35 and after weeding out the duplication, we get 15 articles.

So the fewer times a personality is featured in the paper – take the Wanita MCA leaders who log a grand total of 3-5 stories – then the duplication is minimized and the absymal results accurate. Therefore, it is correct for me to say that The Star neglects to report on Wanita MCA or Wanita Umno for that matter.

      null

      null

To counter check what I’ve explained above, you can Google using Custom Range date parameters. Choose a week, anytime during the past 3 years and compare the Chua Tee Yong and Hannah Yeoh results. Using the timeframe of one week (or one month if you’re rajin), the search results will be manageable for you to pinpoint each article in order to do the headcount.

      Cheers.

Thank you Helen for the search tutorial and explanation.

I think CTY is being given great coverage of late – Talam and now PAS hudud.

Still, perception is the name of the game.

      As clear as day mssleepyhead.

As you can see, CTY has more articles than HY. Helen herself says that more stories means more duplication.

In conclusion, even if we filter out duplication, there are more articles about MCA politicians than HY.
