Ong Kian Ming mendakwa pencerobohan rumahnya ‘bermotifkan politik’

July 10, 2012 at 10:43 pm 4 comments

Tweet Ong Kian Ming dijadikan tajuk utama di Malaysiakini petang ini – ‘Thugs attack political analyst’s house‘.

The Star pun amat cepat melaporkan berita ini melalui taliannya (online). Suratkhabar tersebut memetik Ong sebagai berkata, “Three men armed with metal rods broke through the front gate and tried to break down my front door” (baca seterusnya di sini).

I have been getting a lot of messages lately asking me to be extra careful” considering “the threats and personal risks involved to stay in my line of job”.

The Star melaporkan:

“Bersih steering committee member Wong Chin Huat was injured after being attacked while jogging in Petaling Jaya Saturday morning (9 June 2012).” / “Wong posted a picture of his bloodied face after the attack on the social networking site (Facebook).

Natijah kes Chin Huat mendapat perhatian media arus perdana and media alternatif serta tersebar di media sosial, maka Kementerian Dalam Negeri terpaksa mengeluarkan penafian, yakni kenyataan oleh Hishamuddin Hussein bahawa kadar jenayah tidak menampakkan peningkatan.

Meskipun begitu, persepsi khalayak umum adalah berbeza.

Pandangan Chin Huat tentang PRU13

“No spin doctoring or perception management or media control can change this because victims will recount their ordeals on Facebook and Twitter — even when they don’t tell the police in whom they may have lost confidence.”

“I believe, yes, crime would be a key issue in the next elections. Will regime change make this country safer? Yes and no. What matters is not who runs the governments, but how the governments are run.

“If we really want effective local needs policing, we must be able to flexibly increase the resources and optimise the deployment of the police force based on local conditions. Heads must roll when tax payers are let down.

“Can we sack the home minister or the inspector-general of police now? We can’t. We need devolution in police power so that a big part of the police force comes under the control of chief ministers or even elected mayors, who then have the power to sack the CPO or OCPD. We can then demand that the chief minister or mayor improve policing or threaten to sack them, which is much easier than sacking the prime minister or home minister.”

Siapakah blogger-blogger otai zaman pra-PRU12?

For someone who is academically trained, he doesn’t offer any proof of his claim but suspect the motive to be political. Of course, he’s not going to admit if, for example, [if someone were to make an accusation against him that [***].

Notice the similarity to our Australian-trained “expert” Greg Lopez, who ducks debates and quotes highly “academic” sources such as Mkini and Minsider to support his arguments.

Anyway I see a trend to the whole thing. When OKM is attacked it is political. When WCH is attacked, it must be the BN thugs. When Surendran is threatened it is political, etc.

I remember there was a big hoo-ha when some DAP Indian leaders were attacked in Klang, it was claimed that it was by MIC members. Of course the issue was sensationaly reported but later it emerged and reported in Tamil papers that the people were actually Pakatan members unhappy with some party related matters.

The objective of this exercise is to create a perception that BN is planning to use violence and political initimidations to win the next GE. There was this article from Reuter on the same topic.

Also I believe, Pakatan is planning to use rising crime rates as another election topic. Just watch our loyar burok Tony to come out with another sensational claim soon.

      Agree wholeheartedly!

When Kim is alleged to have had an affair, DAPsters retort that it is merely a rumour and there’s no proof.

When there is a video of a man resembling Anwar, they say the evidence is fake.

But when DAPsters confidently accuse certain VVIPs of murder no less, the same burden of proof and the ‘aiyah, only rumour lah’ standard which they use for Kim and Anwar does not apply.

When writers or bloggers are critical of DAP, they claim that all these “whores” and “prostitutes” must have been bought or turned over by Umno.

It’s too easy for bloggers and writers to turn around and ask these DAPsters along identical lines: “How much did DAP pay you to write these negative comments in our blog/website?”

Yet despite critical bloggers being called “low class”, at least the low class group refrains from emulating the holier-than-thous’ high class tactics.

    The pre-2008 photos are priceless…

Nowadays one is not likely to see YB Jelutong with a can of Tiger in his hand (tak cukup kelas?). Haris looks like he showered regularly back then, although Marina has always been a lala by herself…
