Amanat Hadi dan sembahyang dua imam

Tentang kadre PAS, beliau menulis:

“They wore their ‘holier than thou’ hat at all times. Humble they were not. Jauh sekali. They thumbed their noses up at those who didn’t support their party.

Blog Din Turtle sememangnya bacaan ruji harian saya; postingnya tentang ‘Amanat Hadi‘ (Feb 16).

http://malaysiakini.com/news/189875

(6) Jessie diberikan mereka jolokan ‘Ms Tow Truck’ manakala Ceylyn disindir ‘Ms Equality’.

Komen-komen pembaca diambil dari rencana ‘Jessie Ooi defends poser to Guan Eng’ (Malaysiakini, Feb 21). Itulah, khalifah mereka pantang dijentik.

(Baca SINI)

“Having no choice but to safeguard their daughter’s interest, the couple registered Shay as Chinese, for the time being.” (Rencana sini).

Anaknya yang kecoh sijil kelahiran – Hannah bukan setakat menggertak kerani JPN malah mengugut hendak menghantar petisyen kepada perdana menteri – telah didaftar sebagai bayi keturunan Cina “buat sementara waktu”. Kira prinsiplah ni — whatever is expedient.

Lepas habis tempoh “for the time being” Shay Adora dianggap anak Cina, nanti boleh ditukar menjadi anak Mat Salleh celup.

Kami orang Cina pun sembahyang dua imam — di satu pihak pengikut biskop dan paderi, satu pihak lagi tarekat tradisional.

  1. Helen, I have come back. Despite my taunts at you, you still publish my comments… I respect that. Hat’s off.

And, the fact that you write in very fluent– I dare say perfect– Malay means that your audience is much larger and certainly in the spirit of 1Malaysia.

PS I just got kicked out of din merican’s blog. A bunch of circle jerking elitists.

Helen, you are certainly one of the better Malaysian bloggers out there . Din merican can’t hold a candle to you. I guess a Malay lost AGAIN to a chinese. Huh, why do I see in racial terms? Oh, I am OverseasBumi!

    Some points about your blog:-

    – You post regularly, thus attracting people to re-visit. SatD can’t output as much as you

    – You have a theme that is more to the center. You don’t overtly support BN, but you are doing the READERS a big service by exposing the hypocrisy of the opposition, which is a service that is sorely lacking in Malaysian Internet media.

    – Din Merican supposedly has “JOHN MALLOT” reading his blog and writing on his comment area. Please name drop those who come by and leave interesting comments, and who are well-known . It’s ok if you do a little self-promotion, I won’t mind.

    – At least you do face up to your failings. We are all sensitive to racial injustice. So, let’s drop that whole B-A-B-I thing.. BTW, did you know that was used by UMNO as a acronymic of Brother Anwar Bin Ibrahim?

Thanks & welcome back. I do adjust & temper my views after being given feedback. In some cases, it’s really due to my genuine ignorance of what may cause the Malay to kecil hati. We Chinese as an immigrants race have managed to cultivate a more studied indifference to external stimuli. — Helen

    1. hahahahohoho, i was kicked out by the same din six months ago, see, he is ‘fair’ when come to censure and ban commenters :)

you must from time to time mention that din blog is one of the best in the world, otherwise we would enjoy the same fate. and i often remind myself to praise helen from time to time so she dun ban me :)

      1. What was sickening was he wanted to refer to me as ‘Overseas malay’. Then when he was pissed off at me and after I revealed that I am more mamak looking, he changed it to ‘OverseasBumi ‘. Then I wrote, hah ‘Typical Malay’!

I wrote that if malays wrote bad things about other malays (like DR Musa Bakri, living in the US with his white American wife), even other bumis would suffer.

I told him and Musa Bakri (who’s just a surgeon and not actually a Phd in sociology, so his titles are just for showing off) to tone down or write directly to the Malays who are in charge.

Then I noticed that John Mallot wrote on his comment blog. So, I poked fun at if he’s real, because we all know how John Mallot is a lackey for the Rupert Murdoch proxy empire , always writing on WSJ.

He HAD to mention that it’s the REAL John Mallot.

JM, LKS, TDM are playing the old man blog grudge game. AI should join them (ie retire and make lame blog posts).

    2. Oversea Bumi, enjoyed your comments above.

By the way output wise, Helen is more reproductive. But her’s is more on thought provoking and she engages and saught our ideas and opinions.

But SatD work’s lately is more of a rebuttal, to LGE boastful claims, he back up his rebuttal with research and facts, spiced up with caustic and acidic comments. So he shoot with a loaded gun. I l love his trade mark ” apa ka lanc@#” , very original and he don’t pussy foot with sword fighting , he just stab into the matter. i suppose their gender show their different approach, as how they put their view publicly.
And i immensely enjoy both sites.

Another interesting blogger is Dr Rafik, R2W site

  2. Wow!

Orang Cina bercakap tarekat, hm, Amanat Hj Hadi masih lagi terpakai hingga sekarang.

  3. I once theorized that chinese immigrants are more dynamic than mainland chinese. I have worked in Mainland China. THere are workers who sleep or who come in late or smelling absolutely foul!

I think there should be credence to that the observation. ONly those who can think on their feet and who can adapt would migrate.

So Malays should realize that in Malaysia we are really competing with the cream of the crop.

Mahathir once said that Western countries should pay malaysia and countries like Malaysia for the brains they take. There is logic behind that. Malaysia and countries like it DO invest in infrastructure and education, so if their people migrate to western countries, we are effectively ‘exporting’ our brains.

Sorry, but those Malaysians (malay, chinese, indians alike) who stay behind have to deal with the insinuation that they weren’t good enough for ‘export.’

This is a slur bandied around among racial US society. Whites would accuse blacks in the US that their black ancestors were the stupid ones to get caught and put on the slave ships, hence the smart Africans were the one smart enough to escape and live in Africa. This is of course a fallacy, but you can build a hypothesis around it using spurious data and articles:-

    Nigerians in US most educated??

    http://www.chron.com/news/article/Data-show-Nigerians-the-most-educated-in-the-U-S-1600808.php

Yeah, helen, goes against my racial hierarchical thinking too. But, I learnt that long ago. I have a nigerian with a Phd from oxbridge in my firm.
    ________________________________________________________________________

Personally, I’m more laidback & some Chinese view me as an under-achiever :D manakala saya sendiri pun mengagumi their get-go spirit for success.– Helen

    1. dynamic no, inclusive maybe.

many mainland chinese leave their ‘kampung’ that is thousand miles away (china is big) and learn to survive in the capitalistic city, don’t underestimate their dynamism.

ask around, the only thing malaysian chinese gain is we speak a little engrish and malay, and half baked mandarin. in term of personalities and competence, i think taiwanese and hong konger is well ahead, follow by mainlanders, last is malaysian/singapore chinese.

  4. Helen, thx for ruji-ing my site and for further highlighting this Amanat thingy.

    Lebih2 lagi, apa pendapat DAP ! ?

  5. Helen,

Since the Selangor Times is being run by a bunch of DAP lovers, it is hardly a shock to see them to splashing their favourite poster gals like Hannah across their pages in full colors.

Hannah apparently has a lot of influential and well-to-do supporters and you can see that she has a lot of advice from professionals in terms of public relations. While many people in Subang Jaya think she is useless and ineffective, she has painted herself a sort of super Assembly person using PR skills.

BTW, you might be interested to know that there is already a book on Teo Nie Ching in Mandarin (so much for Malaysian First).

  6. I have another theory. Bear with me. Maybe NEP is the incentive that drives the immigrant Chinese in Malaysia? I theorize that while the NEP exists the Chinese work harder than if the NEP didn’t?? It’s just a theory, but we need sociologists and psychologists and HR professionals to investigate and study this.

In my experience, it doesn’t matter. Even overseas, I see racial grouping and racial favoritism. Some overseas multinational companies actively hire from one SPECIFIC indian/filipino/chinese/thai/malaysian/[insert cheapo labor country here] racial community. Meaning they know that even in those countries there are racial sub-categories, and it would be expedient to hire from ONE group rather than from many. This would ensure TEAM COHESION.

In some Mid East countries, there is NO WAY to enforce diversity laws at the workplace, so you’d find one company with only Telugu speaking people and another which has Tagalog speakers but with fair skin (ie most probably chinese).

I have to say that in the mid-east most indian races conquer certain aspects of my business. In another aspect, where agents and middlemen are needed, christian lebanese and egyptians conquer it.

We need NEP. But is it really the incentive that drive the Chinese? No. They were driven to leave for greener pasture as soon as possible. The thing is some of those ‘greener’ countries are experiencing economic problems of their own. Hence the return of the chinese as new evangelistic DAP members. Explored that angle yet?

  7. nice of you to pick up and expand on the issue, helen. thanks a mil. this unpalatable amanat haji hadi sekarang dah makan tuan sebenarnya, that’s the reason why ’em pas folks are keeping their counsel. i would like to see dap coming to haji hadi’s defence, though, hehehe…

Thanks for dropping by, kak. Am jealous of you & Pak Din as I think T’ganu is the most beautiful state. I remember one night sitting on a log outside a kandang kerbau lembu in Tepoh and the stars were so low in the vast sky. Rindu! — Helen

    1. The stars appear so low because in the country there is less light pollution and air pollution.

Light pollution occurs when man made lights (street lights, flood lights, lights from buildings etc) shine towards the sky and gets scattered. This results in diminished contrast between the stars and night sky.

In other words, you can generally enjoy the beauty of the night sky in less developed areas of Malaysia.

Sorry to rain on your parade.
      _________________________________________________________________________

Since you’re putting on your science cap, how about when I shine a torch into the Tranung sky & the beam of light shoots up distinctly, i.e. with clear outline (“to infinity & beyond”) … explanation? I can sort of understand why the East Coasters are pious — great natural environment. — Helen

      1. Your observation just reinforces the scientific concept of light scattering. It’s scatterd by particles suspended in the air directly around you as you shine the light. But, no, it doesn’t go to infinity. Light diminshes according to the inverse square law.

As to why it appears like the beam ‘shoots up distinctly’, you need to examine your torch. It may be that your torch has a parabolic reflector that causes the beam to converge more than it diverges.

In an urban environment, the same light beam might appear diffuse, again due to the phenomenon of light pollution.

Europeans have standards recommending how road luminaires emit light. They try to prevent ‘light escape’ . The East Asians (Japanese, and Koreans) are not so particular on this issue. They tend to allow more gaudy street and neon lights. Malaysia tends to use more british standards –or no standards.

I’ve always had my science cap on. Society seen through a scientific lens is very interesting.

Did you know that sociologists and evolutionary biologist have seen a correlation between religiosity and sparsely populated areas! Open spaces do inspire great emotional responses.
        _______________________________________________________________________________

Good on you for your scientific thinking. “To infinity & beyond” is the famous line by Buzz Lightyear from ‘Toy Story’ lah. — Helen

I don’t like Ibrahim Ali but with him around, at least people know there are Melayu extermists in Malaysia and not to look them down. And although he makes wrong turns everytime, there’s at least a bit truth in him. Mestilah dia membawa suara majority Cina yg takutkan hudud. So what’s wrong of being fear, daripada menyembunyikan kebenaran dengan menjadi hipokrit bersetuju ‘aggree to disaggree’ dengan hudud kemudian memberi pandangan bahwa tiada hudud di Penang sebab akan dijalankan di Kelantan sahaja. What the F? Cakap suka dengan Islam, hormat Islam, boleh terima Islam, but why with THAT answer?

Kalau niat Hannah Yeah ikhlas, oklah. Tapi kalau tak ikhlas, or mungkin dia bertudung sekadar menghormati tempat suci orang Islam sebab nak masuk kawasan ibadah memang kena tutup aurat. (Tapi yg saya tau kena tutup betul2 la bukan sekadar letak atas kepala sahaja. takder orang PAS tegur ke? Atau menghalalkan kerana matlamat?).

Biasalah Helen, kebanyakan PR, apa diorang buat semua betul..Apa yang salah semua betul jugak. Kalau kita ni kerajaan, semua dikatakan kera, dikafirkan, racist, cronism, cakap mcm orang bodoh. Helen nilai sendiri la mcm mana komen pro and anti gov macam mana.

— Helen

  10. Helen , a question for on chinese culture. By chinese custom daughter must follow father surname or mother’s?.

As for the child race ? must follow Who?.

I look like she is shame to call her daughter indian……sad to see the husband also hating his race.
    _______________________________________________________________________

Children take father’s surname. Chinese a patriarchal society. My great grand dad took a second wife after my great grandma produced 8 daughters! & no son. Race, I believe, most commonly around the world & esp. in our Asian patriarchal cultures, will follow father’s. — Helen
