Ujarnya:

“[Jessie] is desperate and emotional. She went to the debate only to attack Guan Eng, not to ask questions during the debate.”

Kaunsilor Iszuree Ibrahim pula berkata Jessie sebenarnya mempertahankan pemandu yang melakukan kesalahan meletak kereta. Sambungnya lagi:

“Her remarks are a slap in her own face and the party. She tried to get publicity for herself but without knowing it, it backfired on her and her party.”

  1. Hmmm……quite reactionary with full defensive mechanism at play, what are they trying to prove? are we (the public) going to be bombarded with such shenanigan everytime their ‘great’ leader kena jentik? Kalau betul-betul kena jentik entah apa akan dibuatnya, mungkin panggil amnesty international and insist on another royal inquiry kut. Boleh tak semua orang jangan jadi taksub sangat dengan pemimpin masing-masing, ternyata LGE bukan berdarah putih, no?

  2. Waa Lan!

This is their mentality? Pejuang Rakyat? Telus? LOL. Let them rant and howl. It seems their Caliph is an untouchable. They could have laughed off the incident into obscurity, but they chose this instead? Small minded people in big positions. good, good. The rakyat will see and judge. Are they talking about suing, or banning Jess from the state? Like Faekah of Selangor in the Ibrahim Ali incident. They never learn, do they?.

    Salaam,

Ya Allah, peliharalah keharmonian kaum di negara kami.

  3. So typical of a BN apologist. Do you condone Jessie Ooi’s crass behaviour ? Did you notice she was snarling and foaming at the mouth ? Did you understand that her questions had nothing to do with the Chinese being at cross-roads ?

Lastly, did you realise that this foam-at-the-mouth rabid bitch is still not contrite at her behaviour ?

    1. You godfather dude, look at the choice of words you choose. And you say the lady has crass behavior?

  4. I saw the video. Although I couldn’t understand the language, I could see Jessie had a genuine gripe.

What I read from the translation, she complained about overzealous car clamping performed by the local authorities. She may be right.

Speaking in public can be an emotional process, but the reaction by Pakatan has been equally outrageous and border line sexist and discriminatory.

Someone has tried to create an internet meme of Jessie Ooi
    http://www.quickmeme.com/meme/3696hx/

And the pic of a bunch of men putting their thumbs down in front of a large projected image of Jessie Ooi is puerile and demeaning. See here:

Feminists should be up in arms.

If I were an UMNO political consultant, I would jump at this chance to get liberal feminists to attack Pakatan. Spin this against Pakatan for portraying female politicians in such a poor light!!

But, alas, I am not UMNO, and I don’t really care. I just enjoy seeing politicians make fools of themselves.

    1. According to her, the tow truck (hence the nickname) incidents were late at night. If I were a woman motorist driving alone & I stepped out from the bank after an ATM transaction to suddenly find my car missing & myself stranded on the sidewalk with cash in my bag, the most natural reaction would be acute distress.

Towing a car away at 10.30pm in a banking district is extreme compared to other enforcement options such as issuing summons or clamping the wheel. WRT that business row (Beach Street in Penang), towing is more justifiable for a double-parked vehicle during peak hours.

The Pakatan reaction has been disproportionate to her lack of poise. Whatever it is, she did not use any profanities or spew any insults. Only that her angry tone & mannerism leave something to be desired. But it was all just a mere few minutes of airtime.

However the backlash, as you’ve noted, was most demeaning in its sexist vulgarity, level of personal attacks against her, the Pakatan putar-belit as well as the flood of comments following the old vein of their never-ending heckling of the CSL video.

      Your proposed strategy:

“If I were an UMNO political consultant, I would jump at this chance to get liberal feminists to attack Pakatan. Spin this against Pakatan for portraying female politicians in such a poor light!!”

Will Marina, Ambiga & the usual liberal suspects take up the challenge or is Jessie the wrong colour (not Bersih yellow but MCA blue)?

      1. Well said Helen, spot on.

Sure, Jessie could have shown a bit more restraint and less emotion. However she has valid concerns that LGE should address.

I live in Penang and I can share a few things about the thuggish behaviour of MPPP, DAP and LGE.

Ever since DAP took over the state, the line between party, the state and local councils ceased to exist. There are no more checks and balance and basically LGE and DAP runs the state like his own party.

At night we have DAP leaders actually setting up road blocks and conduct patrols. My friends at Penang police were upset that DAP behaved as though they owned the state. Apparently they did not even respect the police and refused to obey them. Only when this was brought up to higher levels, DAP agreed to stop these road blocks and patrols. Can you imagine the uproar MKini and the rest of Pakatan front media would have created had UMNO did the same in Melaka or other BN-states ?

Secondly, it is also known that DAP leaders and even council members take part in raids on businesses and even confisticate equipment belonging to traders. Such brazen and lawless behaviour continues today. Just because it is in DAP run state, our alternative media ignores these Nazi style tactics to intimidate political opponents. You can google or find in YouTube incidents where DAP thugs in action.

I heard of cars being towed at night but funnily, you can see total chaos at Beach Street and the vicinity (the Market Street, etc) where most of the banks, heritage and entertainment centres are located.

I sometimes visit this lawless locale for lunch but parking is a nightmare with people parking indiscriminately. In fact I get very upset that people who are parking properly are being punished with hooligans who break the law getting away with it.During Gerakan time, it was bad too but many of us noticed that ever since DAP came in, we could see that this place has become like Afghanistan, a lawless cowboy town.

I heard that the police were told not to be too hard on these hooligans by DAP. In fact you might recall that the first thing that LGE did was to cancel thousands of parking summons. That set the tone and created all these lawlessness.

You know some of the DAP leaders have their offices here and you can see them parking illegally daily without a care.

Recently some MCA/ BN chaps took pics of CM’s own car parking illegally and uploaded onto the web. So MPPP and LGE have very little moral credibility when speaking about rule of law.

      2. only in our dream.. all is ok if pakataiks do it. never ok if bn does it. that’s the mentality hovering malaysian ngos right now. sad.. very sad..

  5. LOLOL

Still the gutter mentality, so typical of PR. If the leaders do it, what more can you expect of their followers. Don’ mind me, just keep on doing it. It feels good, doesn’t it? good, good. Thank you.

    Salaam,

Ya Allah peliharalah keharmonian kaum di negara kami ini

  7. DAP making roadbllocks? (–calvinsankaran@23/2/12)
    Also confiscating goods?

    Amazing man!!!.
Maybe they think they are equal or higher to the police

Who knows, maybe the formation of secret service police if power still remains with them.
As is, they already have a Internet Squad team

    1. Gratitude

Indeed DAP are forming a shadow army in Penang ala the Nazis in the guise of “Community Policing” teams. While this sounds innocuous, in reality this is only open for one race and only DAP die-hards.

The DAP’s Thug-In-Chief is Ng Wei Aik, the polsek of the Cheap Minister. His team even has a name, KOMTAR CAT’s Rapid Deployment Force and this DAP storm troopers have been terrorising Penang with roadblocks, arrests and even confiscation of properties.

These thugs are known to behave even more powerful and brutal than the police. The rate these units are being formed is scary and even the CPO has raised his concerns. See below.

      http://thestar.com.my/metro/story.asp?file=/2009/2/4/north/3077822&sec=north

Also see the news how DAP leaders are leading these teams, which shows clear political objective behind this. They clearly don’t trust the police. In fact I think their intentions are political and evil, they would probably be the army of DAP in case the party loses the state politically.

Penangites are notorious for their lack of social consciousness so their sudden interest in community work is indeed suspicious.

The Rukun Tetangga-type teams created by DAP deserve our benefit of the doubt as community projects & also their party won’t lose Pg in the GE lah. — Helen

  8. I just got banned from the Malaysian Feminist website Kakak Killjoy.

That’s two sites in 2 days! What a record.

    Here’s the link..

Apparently, they took issue with the jokes I made. First I chided them for not running to Jessie Ooi’s defense.

Then, I alleged that she’s being cyber-gang-raped. That elicited the ban.

I sorta joked about it, too. Something along the lines of that timeless joke that goes : Statistics say, 9 out of 10 people enjoy gang rape.

Helen, being a woman, are you offended by such a joke?

Are liberal Malaysians becoming too politically correct, especially if it doesn’t fit their world view??

  9. Actually, the current attack on the said lady may just be a distraction gimmick from the real issue or to avoid further embarrasment.

This is for the rakyat to forget. Ie to shift the focus point

Had BN/MCA adopt the opposite-ion guerrilla tactics, they would have made the said lady a superstar by now, do press conference, talk show supported by hard facts to press her points further – and gain extra mileage with day to day down to earth rakyat grievances

    But, alas…

    1. This is the US style of politics . Do we want to go down that path? That’s a rhetorical question.

Most open democracies, like the US, end up becoming 2 party systems. There is a mathematical basis that supports this.

Helen Ang, being a natural-born mathematician, would appreciate the maths related to this.

The mathematical inevitability that we end up with 2 main parties is mainly due to the fragmentation of voter opinion and a tendency for voters to perform tactical voting. If a voter is sure his/her candidate can’t win, he/she would vote the next preferable candidate or avoid the least favorable candidate. After several iterations, a binary political system is formed.

      This is what’s happening now.

Some voters don’t like UMNO, but at the same time may like KITA. If they voted for KITA, they know they won’t win. Next best choice is PR la.

There are ways around this. Mathematicians have been pondering this for ages. One method developed by a french mathematician, considers what would happen if one candidate is paired up with other candidates in hypothetical pair-elections. Therefore, in a race with x candidates, there would be 1/2*x*(x-1) pairing and the best candidate should win in those hypothetical races. Then we can create a m x n matrix from these pairing, perform matrix addition operation to get the best candidate result.

There are proposals to use other mathematical models to make elections fairer. But they would have entail computerisation of the election process, which of course is against Bersih’s agenda. They want old school finger in ink.

I think I should x-post this on SatD’s blog (satdthinks.blogspot.con) . I think he’s technically minded enough to further enhance this issue.

One wonders if it was through manipulation of the election process that the chinese can further enhance their representation and influence in government.
