In football, it is the equivalent of scoring an own goal. now come on Helen, how many own goals have the Chinese from the DAP scored since 308 ? care to point out the numbers Helen ?
If I were a BN strategist, I would be laughing out loud. I don’t have to do much, my opponent is doing most of the work for me.
come to think of it, GE 13 is shaping out to be Obama vs Romney 2.0. Look at Obama, he doesn’t need to do much. all he has to do is wait for Romney to make more mistakes, i.e his comment of the 47% of people are dependent on the government, and pounced on them.
Najib, relax. Follow Obama’s script. Are you listening PM Najib ?

I don’t know whether the numbers, concerning those below 39 and above 40, are real. but here’s what I would comment on.
those over 40, they are registering as voters, I think they do so not because of politics, but because they know, and they care about, that if they don’t come out and vote on election day, this country, as they know it, will change irreversibly if the opposition win the GE.
and may I add that those over 40 registering as voters are most likely to be Malay Muslims, the silent electorate.

But the young voters? — Helen
Your guess is good as mine. But I m inclined to think that the young voters are not as dumb as people make them out to be. Will most of them vote for the opposition ? Yes. So that leaves us with “some” young voters, and their role will be pivotal.
Plus, if the majority of these new voters are Malay Muslims, as opposed to the widely held believe of new voters being Chinese, then we have a new element of uncertainty, for the opposition that is.
Since the composition of new voters is yet to be revealed by the Election Commission, well, I m waiting, actually, for them to make an announcement, that is if they even care to make one, my guess is that, all this is going to create more problems for the opposition.
After all the shenanigans by the opposition, do they still expect the silent Malay Muslim majority to vote for them ? These people (Chinese from the opposition), they may think that attacking, insulting the UMNO/Barisan Malay Muslims is great for them, but do the Malay Muslims share the same sentiment ?

Kak Helen, En Ahmad Ibrahim.

Interesting point to note that racial politics is making inroads at tertiary level now (at public varsities). Mudslinging used to be the norm few years ago, especially when there are candidates who openly confess their political inclination (the PAS camp vs. UMNO camp vs. PKR camp), but it was pretty much a Malay affair because non-Malay candidates usually jarang kena kacau – from my observation lah, I may be wrong though..
DAP’s new vote bank. They aggressively recruiting volunteers and registering first-time voters.
Also Chinese political resurgence. So young Chinese keener on politics today compared to Reformasi era where the young political participants were Malay.
Helen,
Yeah, new strategy from the oppo think thank……in lieu of good things done for us all, each and every races.
Ahmad ibrahim,
What Anwar Ibrahim may refuse to accept is that the perception of Malay voters ihas change quite substantially. And the perception seems to favour UMNO.
So, actually Najib needs not rush to seek audience with Yang DiPertuan Agung over dissolution of parliament. Anwar may still dream that he is the “focus” on Malaysian politics. Unfortunately, many view him as a nuisance.
As for the Malays, there is no denying that there are die hard Anwar supporters. They will not believe anything said about Anwar. To them, Anwar is a paragon of virtue, honesty, intellectualism as its best.
everyone of us know that Anwar has none of those characteristics, He seems to be over “familiar” with money politics and played it well in his mind boggling quest to topple Tun Ghaffar.
The trend on Malays leaning towards UMNO can be seen on byelection where UMNO won convincingly in Bagan Pinang, Merlimau, Tenang. Even in Manik Urai claimed to be PAS bastion, UMNO lost by mere 45 votes: a telling signal that UMNO is gaining its influence.
As for Chinese, I do believe they are pragmatic people. I do hope they remember how “painful ” to be on side of losing team. Instead of voting UMNO out, they may unwittingly vote themselves out of govt.
My advice especially to Malays. Never underestimate the power of voting. A govt can collapse with mere one vote.
I agree on your point not to rush the election.
A while back on Stop The Lies, it was reported that the Nut Graph, a pro-PR online rag I’d never heard about, was shutting down due to lack of funds. Most probably when it was launched, they just gave it enough money to last until now, reasoning that by this time we’d have had the elections already.
At that moment I realized, “this can’t be the only outfit that’s running dry. Let’s just hold out a bit more and see what else falls off.”
I’m glad that we haven’t heard of dissolution yet. And whaddaya know, PKR Selangor govt is shouting at BN, asking who their calon MB is. Tak pernah dibuat dek orang.
I wonder what else will happen. DS Najib is playing them like a boss.
Servant Of God,
Yes Sir. Najib is the “boss”. He is the “boss” as he leads the govt of a sovereign nation.
Situation would have been different say if Najib or Dr Mahathir was then thr PM when Anwar lied about toppling a legitimate govt on Sept 1, 2008. If I were the PM, in no time, i would send in the troops to topple Guan eng or Khalid
I have legitimate reason to do that. They supported the overthrowing of my Govt. as such, I have the right to execute them.
But of course, then PM was Abdullah. He is ever lenient . In fact too lenient.
If situation is reversed say Guan Eng was the PM and Abdullah cried out to topple his Govt(Putrajaya) on Sept 16, Guan Eng would put him in jail in no time.
AS FOR ANWAR, he still dreams. He refuses to reallise that Najib is literally pushing him to the corner with no escape avenue. ANWAR simply can not accept reality that vast majority of Malays now see him as a burden , a politician with too many problems , a desperate politician. Above all, he is a useless politician who refuses to swear despite repeated challenged. And no person if he has any credible would run from a challenge to swear if he is on the “truth” side.
IN SHORT, Anwar is history. A tragedy when a 64 year old politician is unable to face reality.
Let me be in abstract. How does this sound. Manan Ngah’s song [YouTube]. Eergh!!! don’t look at it as a love song but look at it what Malaysians crave for amongst each other for it if they don’t want to feel neglected. No this is not poetic justice, it is realism that we need to come into terms for Malaysians without a pseudo agenda for political misgiving.
la budak ni ikut contoh tak baik dari mama dapster. malu ke nak mentioned kaum india. sungguh rasis tahap polis angkasa gaban.
