Offering to the spirits of the sea

Came across an Anon comment in Syed Akbar Ali’s blog that tickled my fancy. It’s regarding what to do with people who rock the boat — just throw them overboard.

UlitMayang

I’ve copypasted below a piece of typical Ubah rhetoric which appeared today in that most Jerusubang of publications, The Malaysian Insider.

It is credited to a Chinese churchgoer (the church connection is a significant point, so please take note) who calls herself Gan Yue-Li.

I don’t plan to dissect or deconstruct Gan Yue-Li’s “must change” polemics. You can read it for yourself below.

I just have one short comment with regard to Gan’s description that “after we [referring to her family, aunts, uncles, cousins, neighbours] have locked our doors, turned on the alarm and imprisoned ourselves in our homes”.

Gan Yue-Li speaks as someone who is apparently living in a gated community where the houses have burglar alarms, and where home owners triple lock their doors, grill their windows, and in her own words “imprison” themselves in their [high class] abode.

Kampung houses where the doors are left unlocked at night would not likely be something within the experience of these very loud and whingey Jerusubangites who are “scornful” of the recent MCA series of election campaign ads.

The pity is that it is really their own Jerusubang mental frame that locks out the rest of Malaysia whose “mother tongue” is not English.

Scared or not?

By Gan Yue-Li

People were rightly scornful of the series of print advertisements by MCA. Just like the false threats that spewed from the lips of our Prime Minister and his minions at their ceramahs. It is obvious that all these fear-mongering tactics are in the hopes of subduing and frightening a nation that is hopeful for a new dawn.

But I am not afraid of the possibility of hudud. Instead, I am afraid that our young Malaysians will grow up without being properly taught to think, or speak, or debate. I am afraid they will, one day, have no choice but to leave the country because they are unable to find a better job, or a place in university.

I am not afraid that my right to enjoy a drink with friends will be curtailed. I am afraid for my dad every time he takes our dog out for a walk. I am afraid for my female friends every time we say goodnight and walk back to our own cars. I am afraid for my aunts, uncles, cousins, neighbours, and everyone else, every night even after we’ve locked our doors, turned on the alarm and imprisoned ourselves in our homes.

I am not afraid that my church will be forced to close by PAS. I am afraid that our children will one day think it’s ok to tell their non-Malay friends to “balik Cina” or “balik India” because they saw or heard adults screaming it. I am afraid that more people will think it’s ok to insult other religions because our Home Minister defended a few that did.

I am not afraid that I won’t be able to have my hair cut by a male hairdresser. I am afraid that my gay friends will be beaten up when they walk outside tomorrow, because the government of today is spreading and inciting the message that being gay is a sin or a disease.

I am not afraid of the possibility of another May 13 if Barisan Nasional loses. I am afraid that my friends will get hurt when they attend Opposition ceramahs that are disrupted by paid gangsters and Mat Rempits. I am afraid for the many prisoners in police or MACC’s custody who are tortured, beaten and who lose their lives while in the hands of the very people who should be protecting us.

I am not afraid that our country’s economy will plunge when the Opposition takes over as government. I am afraid that my EPF savings are being drained and sucked dry to bail out GLC failure after GLC failure. I am afraid that my tax money is being used to pay for RM500 spanners which actually cost RM10. I am afraid that our countrymen are being forced to pay higher tolls, higher electricity bills and suffer water shortages just because Barisan Nasional’s cronies are not getting enough millions and billions. I afraid for the indigenous people of Sabah and Sarawak who are laughed at as their lands are stolen from right under their feet.

I am not afraid of what may be, or of the false threats by Barisan Nasional which are an insult to our maturity as Malaysians.

But I am afraid for the many crimes that are already happening. I am afraid of the social injustices that have already happened. The longer Barisan Nasional stays in power, the more they will steal and plunder from our country and its people. The more they cling on to the last vestige of governance, the more our people will suffer, the higher cost of living will climb, the greater the corruption and abuses, the greater the failure of our country.

These are my fears. These are the real fears of the people. These are the issues that people feel strongly about. And if you were to get off your arrogant high horses and actually think about us, the people, instead of yourselves, you’d know our fears too – I’m voting for a government that does.

  1. Orang ini baru keluar dari Tanjung Rambutan. I have seen a girl with tudung walk alone outside Bukit Bintang Plaza late evening!

  2. I am afraid that YOU ARE NOT AFRAID AT ALL now, or ever since our independence. You are not afraid because UMNO lead Perikatan and BN and let everyone living in Malaysia in Peace and Harmony.

I am afraid that YOU ARE NOT AFRAID AT ALL, to try out PKR, DAP and PAS, more so Anwar Ibrahim when you know although refuse to admit that, Anwar is a sodomiser, a compulsive liar and an American ASS-Jilater.

I am afraid that YOU ARE NOT AFRAID AT ALL, our Lim Kit Siang as a registered father of Racism in Malaysia, and, having his son carrying the same thought and philosophy, yet, still mesmerizing in your high-class brain cells,

I am afraid that YOU ARE NOT AFRAID AT ALL. that, PAS is looking at you Chinese and non-muslim as “khinzir”. Must you not realized by now PAS will ‘touch’ you non-malays bare hand if their hand is dry and yours is dry as well. If your hand is wet, theirs dry, they will wrap a cloth around their palms and then, they will only then shake your bare hand (palm).

    GO FLY KITE PAKATAN SEWEL

    1. Moya,

I think your (PAS is looking at you Chinese and non-muslim as “khinzir”.) is a bit over the top, at least with my own experience with Pas supporters.

However, you surely have your own experience. Just that I hope those who don’t like the other parties can rise above their level – whatever the level is.

  3. Saya lagi takut kalau Cik Gan jadi jiran saya. Semua ketakutan dia disebabkan BN dan institusi negara. Schizophrenic?

  4. they love to contradict themselves, don’t you think?

I am gay and I am fucking offended! No, Gan Yue-Li .. the government of today never for once spread & incite the message that homosexuality is a disease. Yes, we’re the faggots are aware that in ALL religion it is a sin. That’s between us and God not the government.

It is just for the hypocritical gay bastards (I am using plural not singular and it’s bloody intentional) that hide behind religion that even us the fags are so ‘fed up’ with and that we (which means me & my league of fags) hope they eat their teeth.

I find the hoity toity jerusubang is so detached from reality. Do they actually know what is Mat Rempit or is it anyone with motorbikes? It’s also funny she can say PAS can close down their churches and she won’t bat an eyelid.. Is she for real?

My advice to jerusubang, get familiarize with bahasa, other media apart from MKini, FMT & whatnot.. Malaysia is not as dark as you think.

    1. were there ever any institutionalized discrimination against the gay under BN? I know a couple of gay friends who are freaking successful and definitely ALIVE so I know nobody cut ’em down economically, or treat them like they way do in Iran or Sudan.

Sure there weren’t any OPEN and blatant efforts to recognize them ala Seksualiti Merdeka, but I always thought it’s a blessing that way. By acknowledging them like an ‘open secret’ (we know you’re there, we’re not holding parades or anything for you, but we’re not treating you any different from anyone else either) – it kept them AWAY from the radar of the religious hardliners,

Heck everyone knows there’re gay clubs in KL. There’s no attempt by BN government to shut it down as long as everyone toe the line i.e we unto ours, you unto yours, we go about our own business and we don’t say anything about it. It’s weird, but the balance works.

I hate to say this but I think.. if PR comes into power, and things like Seksualiti Merdeka is a go – there WILL be open protests against the gays. And there will be open hatred. And that won’t bode well for both sides of the divide.

      1. From Pas yes. However I doubt if it ever come from PKR.

Dr Farouk Musa, co-chairman of Bersih, although Islamically aware, is pro Liberal Democratic government. His opinion is at odds with Pas afaik.

          1. As Far As I Know – afaik

I follow Dr. Farouk Musa thought as he is on my FB friend list , apart from his NGO – Islamic Renaissance Front – IRF (http://www.irfront.org/). He espouse many of Prof Tariq Ramadan’s (TR) view.

Among the most controversial is TR’s called for moratorium of corporal punishment especially Islamic penal code (aka Hudud said Pas) in Islamic Countries – read further: http://www.tariqramadan.com/spip.php?article264&lang=fr

He argued that it is not realistic to implement Islamic Penal Code as well as question: what constitute “Islamic Country”.

If I’m not mistaken, he also support LGBT movement. Thus he is more suitably align with PKR than to Pas.

btw, I should add that he seems to support SEKULAR Liberal Democratic governance.

His gripe to BN is the usual corruption, accountability, not democratic and liberal enough … He also does not seem to favor Kongsi spirit of BN.

            1. Thanks. “He also does not seem to favor Kongsi spirit of BN,” interesting.

          2. afaik – As Far As I Know

Helen – you’ve forgotten already some of the acronyms netizens used during in the old days in the chatrooms, prior to FB?

          3. Helen..

            You know ‘tahaluf siyasi’?

            Are U kelantanese or Johorean?

            1. Ex-boyfriend Kelantanese Malay but when I reveal this info, the Chinese ultra bloggers spin all kinds of untrue stories because they respect no boundaries in their personal attacks.

They even nastily drag in our mothers just to kenakan us who are their targets.

  5. Watching the ulek mayang video reminds me again of why I must fight Pas. It is because they are anti any culture they deem as unislamic. It could be women voice, not wearing tudung etc. This is the what people like Gan does not understand because she only care about church songs!

    1. The really bad thing about Pas is that they claim to base their decisions on the teaching of Islam, but they don’t even know the true teachings of Islam.

Case in point, about the participation of women in the al-Qur’an recitation competitions (tilawah al-Qur’an). For 20 years, they said it was haram because a woman’s voice is part of her aurat. Yet, now they said that it is permissible.

What the hell? It is impossible that they received a new wahyu, so how do they explain the reversal? Are they conceding a mistake on their part in interpretating the scripture, twenty years ago? Or what?

I doubt they can answer this. If they could, I would love to hear it, but I doubt it. So if I can’t trust them to give me a truthful answer, they sure as heck don’t deserve my vote.

      1. The issue of tilawah by women is the different of interpretation between literalist and contextualist.

Apart from fundamental tenet such as Essential Faith (Rukun Iman) and Ritual (rukun Islam), a lot (not all) of Islamic values that I understood are general in nature and can infuse into a lot of practices. It provides values behind practices. Thus one can superficially doing something Islamic, but devoid of any Islamic spirit in it.

Thus context is ever important in Islamic discourse.

The issue of tilawah is not on the tilawah itself IMO. It’s more on the ‘houlier than thou’ attitude when expressing and enforcing certain view.

        1. I can accept that it was due to a difference in interpretation.

But wasn’t the same people behind both the haram decree and the reversal (i.e. nik aziz)?

          1. This happened a lot, even by the most famous figure in Islamic History. One of the most prominent is Imam al-Syafie, whose methodology of extracting legal ruling (fatwa) from main sources is said to be followed by majority of Muslim Scholar in Malaysia. Among the reasons of changing decree are maturity, increasing experience and re-research. After all, scholars should be open to possibility that they might be wrong.

As for TG Nik Aziz, I’m in the opinion that Malaysian politics has clouded his credibility. His statement of likening handouts as giving food to animals, accepting the help of devil to oust BN are example of this.

Just that his houlier than thou (or his fans attitude of houlier than thou), might be a put off factor to a lot of people.

      2. When ever they do somethings wrong, it permissible to sweep under the carpets (I think after this 5 years, the carpet man can get rich cleaning this dust). They have been train to do it ever since they joint in. ;)

        1. That in itself is spiritually un-islamic.

I guess as a whole, we Muslim are trying to redefine ourselves post-colonial after long period of decline. Pas is just one of many movements throughout the world struggling for identities.

In 1980s Pas was lauded as an example of Islamic movement in the west. TG Hadi was called to a conference in US (though his speech has to be translated). But now, they (Muslim in the West) are leaps and bounds ahead. Even Hussien Yee is more recognizable globally.

I was told that there is a staunch Muslim who serve as MP somewhere in US. He does not shirk his ‘Taliban’ outward image of long beard (but his attire is sleek). His campaign is simple – I am muslim and all and I support Palestine – in this I can’t compromise. But I’m here to serve you and let my work speak for itself. His first win was with simple majority. Second one was a landslide.

  6. Let me go against the grain a moment;

Just a passing thought which struck me when reading this. Why republish the entire article when a discrete link would do? Or are we seeing something else, something sinister at work. Heard of the Trojan War, the gift horse, the hollow within eh, Helen of Troy?

Mmmmmmm…..Barisan sure fire win…..false sense of security? Jerusubang ….reverse psychology at its sublime best? …now this and others….let me contemplate the unspoken with some doggerel

Am i imagining Medusa in thy word? perchance, its the devil’s whisper flooding my soul, am I to be banished for spilling a droplet of suspicion . Never mind what dawn holds within night’s bosom for whither direction I throw my gaze I see the thickets of dupery and brambles of trumpery. Oh woe us all, your beguiling prose hides mendacity, shields duplicity even as it bespeaks sincerity. So what shalt I do, utter the troublesome to slay the bothersome?

Or better be the bearer of truth than forever be cuckolded by my conscience for ignoring the lisp of treason. Or Shalt I hold my tongue and forever self unforgiven roam beneath the dewy moon, the lonesome woodchuck my soulful companionst on starless nights. Or drnketh me the bitterness of life and dineth me on the scraps of regret for knotting my tongue even as thou wielded the dagger of treachery beneath the silvery shadows of deception.

Oh the vile poison of assumed treachery doth eat my soul, its perfumed self doth deceive my senses, its whisper does seduce my thoughts and lull my reason. Hark, scatter away flocks of doubt for I will saddle my steed and sally forth as the devil’s advocate. Dare you respond to forever exile a whimsy from my fantastical flights of fancy?

    1. me wonder too ?? Helen of Troy ??….heh…heh…dalam bahasa melayu boleh panggil Helah Helen kot..
      Helen senyap je….

      1. NadZree : “Helen senyap je………”

        response : touche. ; D

It’s alright Helen, it is safe too come out of the political closet After all, the Malays are a forgiving lot. Besides, the trauma of political schizophrenia must traumatically unnerving……hahaha

        1. warrior, nadzree & dira ..

I am not sure what is there to be suspicious about & what exactly that you want to hear from Helen. That’s the problem with being suspicious, no matter what is the answer, it will never be good enough.

Apart from Helen, there are other non malays commenting daily and are pro BN – are we gonna be suspicious of them as well? Because they’re not melayu?

Truth is, it’s the melayu in pkr & pas that act as a catalyst to this whole chinese revolt & fiasco.. why are we not suspicious of melayu commentators in here as well?

They way I see it, you’re making LKS & LGE influenced & corrupted your perspective in race relation, the way you view the non malays as traitors & ingrates oozes out. This is quite baffling and disturbing.

Helen doesn’t need to be knocked down, criticized and mocked until 6 feet under, to prove she’s pro BN or is that what you’re expecting? Perhaps you can scroll to previous & past entries and make a judgment of her, yourself.

This deep hatred for all chinese must stop – as not all chinese share the same aspiration & ideology as the DAP chinese. Don’t let a political party & jurassic politician corrupted you…you’re way better than that!

          1. Dude, you have a right to being rightly miffed at our suspicions but that indignation does not in any way obscure our suspicions. Man, I operate on the basis of hard facts. Take the latest piece on Johor. Why show all those sea of people unless you want to send the coded message that mutiny is afoot. And why highlight Dollah Bodowi’s nonsense unless one wants to highlight the tin can petty racist Mahathir certainly isn’t.

You take ur pick man on the opinions you hold but you don’t own the facts behind those opinions. There is no hatred of the Chingks. I understand them better than most cos I was schooled in their paradigm for 4 years before I told dad I wanted away for things best left unsaid (nope it was not physical or anything of that sort but merely cos the more closely you observe the less naive u become) I pursued optionals on Chingkie culture, philosophy and history while swotting engineering in California. All that doesn’t make me less a Malay or more a racist. It just makes me more aware what with the added advantage of knowing the lingo. My early pro life was in Chingk infested MNCs before I left to freelance on my own. Now, don’t call me racist, but u have to accept certain brains are hard wired with specific circuits and operate on certain mental and emotional algorithms which you can’t alter much without detoxing the whole notion of Chineseness from that individual. The epistomological constructs are unabashedly racist. You either live with it, resist it or swim in it. You can’t have it triple ways.

Nope dude, there is no hatred, phobia or anything of your imaginings. And no apologia of PKR & PAS Malays being the catalyst can hide the obvious. It was there for all to see from the outset, only we Malays are smitten by sudah tenghantuk baru menadah. Need i say more.?

P/s: well her silence is indeed deafening

    2. I’ve been suspicious too, actually. But for the most part I chalk it up to Kak Helen being thorough with her work. In any case, it IS her blog and she has the right to support whoever/ whatever she wants to. But the suspicions….they’re like fleas. :P

    3. I gotta say, the repeated showings of photos from DAP ceramahs made me suspicious as well. Reverse psy ops in play?

  7. I don’t expect high people to be afraid.

I must have whatever she’s smoking, must be some excellent batch…

But don’t be so high that you would cook the baby in the oven.

  8. I will attempt to respond to the writer in a language she can understand:

Re: Instead, I am afraid that our young Malaysians will grow up without being properly taught to think, or speak, or debate. I am afraid they will, one day, have no choice but to leave the country because they are unable to find a better job, or a place in university.

And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. – Matthew 6: 28-34 NIV

Re: I am not afraid that my right to enjoy a drink with friends will be curtailed. I am afraid for my dad every time he takes our dog out for a walk. I am afraid for my aunts, uncles, cousins, neighbours, and everyone else, every night even after we’ve locked our doors, turned on the alarm and imprisoned ourselves in our homes.

Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me – Psalm 23: 4 NIV

Re: I am not afraid that my church will be forced to close by PAS. I am afraid that our children will one day think it’s ok to tell their non-Malay friends to “balik Cina” or “balik India” because they saw or heard adults screaming it.

As they were walking along the road, a man said to him, “I will follow you wherever you go.”

Jesus replied, “Foxes have dens and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head.” – Luke 57: 27-28 NIV

Re: I am afraid that more people will think it’s ok to insult other religions because our Home Minister defended a few that did.

Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you. – Matthew 5: 11-12 NIV

Re: I am not afraid that I won’t be able to have my hair cut by a male hairdresser. I am afraid that my gay friends will be beaten up when they walk outside tomorrow, because the government of today is spreading and inciting the message that being gay is a sin or a disease.

Do not have sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman; that is detestable. – Leviticus 18: 22 NIV

They do not speak peaceably, but devise false accusations against those who live quietly in the land. – Psalm 35: 20 NIV

Re: I am not afraid that our country’s economy will plunge when the Opposition takes over as government. “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life? – Matthew 6: 25-27 NIV

Re: I am not afraid of what may be, or of the false threats by Barisan Nasional which are an insult to our maturity as Malaysians.

    And here’s a bonus for Gan Yue-Li;

He replied, “You of little faith, why are you so afraid?” Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm – Matthew 8: 26 NIV

        1. Methinks Anti-Hatred was referring to the letter writer Gan Yue-Li (purportedly a cushy expat in Hong Kong) penning her long litany of complaints about what’s happening on the ground with us here.

          1. Thanks Helen. I was referring to the whining in the letter.

In a nutshell, the whiner is just trying to hide her real fear, divert from the real issue and as usual, slant the whining to create resentment for the ruling coalition.

This IS the crux of the matter is it not?

DAP should Pull out of Pakatan if it Dares

C’mon, grow a pair of balls and just do it already.

    1. Just graduated from KOMTAR centre of cybertrooping excellence, eh?

What did you graduate as? A corporal of the Bintang Tiga cyber terrorists?

      1. KOMTAR centre of cybertrooping is the place where school dropouts end up. the place for rejects to remake themselves into something else. but even after remaking themselves into something else, the shit still stinks.

    2. Ah, finally. Perhaps you, B, could be the one to answer a question of mine that has so far been unanswerable by any PR supporter.

Could you answer me this: In the five years that PR has held 4 states, what good has PR done in managing their respective states to prove that they are better administrators than BN?

So far no PR supporter I have asked this question even bothered to answer me. I believe it is a valid and fair question. After all, PR wants my vote to form a government, so they should have an answer to this question ready in an FAQ format.

So please answer me. I await your reply. Thank you.

      1. Forgive my interjection but if I may put a few words in?

In Kedah, they’ve showed Malaysians how NOT to administer a state. By driving the state to the brink of bankruptcy, we as the rakyat can see what the future may hold if the economy is mismanaged big time.

In Perak, they’ve showed Malaysians what to do when representatives do an impression of frogs. They’ve shown what the expected BN to do had they pulled off 916. Also they’ve shown that they are in fact no different from the frogs with their toady behavior & warts.

In Kelantan, they’ve showed Malaysians a glimpse into life governed by an Islamic government. Where entertainment is frowned upon, alcohol exists only in labs, gambling is unheard of & women hidden behind veils.

In Selangor, they gave us a peek into a world of wonder. One where men would have happy endings after an hour of massage. One where we live in such luxury that we drink, bath & cook using bottled water. A world where the stinking waste smells as sweet as perfume. Also it is a world where stutterers can rise above & beyond the discrimination to the highest positions only limited by your imagination.

And Penang, ah yes. It is here that we learn the cost of rising land prices, literally. It is here that we come to know that while a bridge can do the job, a tunnel is still a better option as it is harder to build & it costs more too. It is here that we are aware of the pitfalls that await us when we use Microsoft Words & Excel. It is here that we learn of how life is in Pyongyang & North Korea. And here we finally see how individuals develop a God complex in the public eye.

        So in answer to that burning question of yours SoG;

The acts above are proof enough that PR did a better job than BN; demonstrating their shortfalls, arrogance, & all round dumbness

        1. Great reply…You know I sent a letter to FMT and other portals about Penang. I cited the example where a bunch of North Koreans who were born blind due to poverty being operated by a NGO team. The moment their bandages were opened and they can see for the first time, they did not thank the doctors at all. Instead they shed tears of gratitude to the Dear Leader for allowing the foreign surgeons to operate on them.

These Dapsters are like that, no amount of logic and data will make them see the truth. MCA is wasting their time on hudud and other issues. No amount of persuasion will change their minds.

They will only talk about how humble Nik Aziz is and no amount of proof will convince them he’s corrupt or owns huge properties or married teenage wife when he was in his 50s.

These Dapsters will talk about Anwar’s “performance” as DPM but none about his scandals and corruptions. When shown documentary proof of his sexploits, they will claim this is gutter politics.

These Chinese has turned to the Four Monkeys of Politics – Hear / See / Talk / Believe anything bad about PR.

        2. Great ‘answers’. I will copy and paste the questions and your answers at lowyat net forum. It’s fun sometime poking the PR nests in that forum. hehehehehe..

          1. Your response reminded me of The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet’s Nest.

In your case, you stamped on the hornet’s nest knowing full well what you’re gonna get.

Hell, do share the thread’s url. You should be sharing fun stuff with everyone ya know?

      2. Haiyaaa… B! Don’t let FFC scare you from answering me.

His answers are sometimes long, but don’t worry, he won’t insult you one. He won’t say bad things about your mother and father, won’t threaten to rape you, won’t make false accusation against you. FFC not like pakatun one…

So you nevermind him ok? Just answer me straight. If you are gay and cannot be straight, never mind, just answer truthfully, ok?

        1. SoG, hehehehe… We are quite ethical people eh? One liner insults are so not us. But the part about being straight & crooked, ish ish ish… Tak baik cakap macam tu tau… :-D

Coincidentally, my first name starts with the letter “B” & lots of my staff call me “B” too.

So B, don’t be afraid of another B. Promise I won’t smack you hard & I’ll use velvet gloves if I do so. Cross my heart.

    3. They still support BN surely coz they don’t have any choice at all. How people want to support your Tokong LGE which fail to manage his very own party’s election? May be you should tell us how you seems very confident with this stupid LGE.. No need lah.. surely people like you just being a servant of tokong LGE which no need to use your own brain.

    2. This is why I love the Malays. They are compassionate not entirely $$$ driven as the culture prohibits it. We can work with Malaysians irrespective of the origin who are humanely driven not purely $$$ & not what is politically conducive. The past is not going to change but at least the present and future needs an uplift for fellow Malaysians in whichever form it comes when it humane for us to accept it.

+2 bro. I sense this too. It starts with the belief that someone owes them a good living. And when they do make it, they are quick to attribute their successes to blood and sweat. None will acknowledge that the Government has created an environment that allows it.

A recent case in point would be Stanley Thai. Where would the righteous Mr.Thai be without cheap gas eh? Ingrate!

  10. Gan Yue-Li doesn’t live in a gated community. Well, perhaps her parents do but not her. She lives and works in Hong Kong, earning a big fat salary there. Actually, she was earning a big fat salary here too before she left for HK for the second time. I know her well and she’s a good person but as with most wealthy urbanites (irregardless of race) nowadays, has a persecution complex.

  11. I think we need to be fair in comments as crime rate and corruption are valid concerns and something that should be given appropriate focus by the govt. BN should be rightfully responsible for the crime and corruption in Malaysia, there is no if and buts.

The problem with this girl is that by voting for Pakatan, these problems will just disappear. There is no indication from PR’s manifesto or based on their track record that they have managed to eliminate crime or corruption. In fact even in Kelantan where the Taliban’s been in charge for decades has not seen any difference in corruption or crime.

If anything, things have gotten worse in Pakatan states. Everyone knows about how the Dear Leader openly abuses the Open tender system to award contracts to cronies. Even his own DCM1 (Ahmad Fairus) was forced to resign over allegations of corruption (remember LGE defended him?). Recently his DCM1’ aide and senior officials were arrested for corruption. The situation in Selangor is even worse as you folks know.

It is amusing to note that she’s afraid of snatch theft but willing to allow her kids live in poverty and in a Taliban-like state by voting for PAS.

People who accuse BN of corruption and robbing the nation seems to forgotten the fact that all these alleged corruption has not deprived them of living standards of upper middle class.

    1. re: “living standards of upper middle class” who need to protect their houses with burglar alarm

The root cause of crime such as house-breaking is the lack of financial means among the underclass, some of whom have resorted to criminal activities from lack of upward mobility and life opportunities.

The opposition whom Jerusubang represents have not indicated that they’re really interested in tackling (with concrete programmes) the root cause of crime, i.e. the groups most vulnerable to becoming burglars (and robbers and snatch thieves). The burglary and robbery are the symptoms of an unequal and dsyfunctional society.

The opposition supporters prefer the option of maintaining their upper middle class lifestyle in their upper middle class suburbs within gated communities and patrolled by private security guards — to protect them from contamination by the poor.

Gated communities are a means of keeping the problem of crime at bay but it does nothing to alleviate the lopsided social divide. Pakatan policies do not favour the poor.

It’s hard to believe that the evangelista pollies have sympathy for the poor when their core constituency are the gated communities who whine in the Internet.

      1. Spot on sis…my thoughts exactly. The underclass should not be helped…they support meritocracy and Bangsa Malaysia mah….

      2. Kuman dihujung laut nampat, gajah di depan mata tak nampak…bukan buta mata tapi buta hati…after me it’s me and me and me and me…

  13. Today while at work, one pkr die hard supporter singing love song to his leader. How now after the ceramah at batawi biz center, they cofident they will take over NS. Every minute gone’s by nobodysay anything but I can sense their restless feelling. Then he start about how good PR manefasto. How brilliant the persons who can create the best manefesto like that.

The question I ask him with a smile is “How do you think they will implement tt?” and the frogs singing softly.

So I said, you should answer, Petronas will pay for everythings. Petronas is a very rich company right. Lets me give you a solution how to implemen all your manifesto. You suppose to answer like this,

    1. Reduce oil and gas price : First do not sell our oil and gas to outside no matter how high the price is. Why give another countries the right to use our high quality oil. It’s belong to us. we deserved to use the best right. Then, to futher reduce the price, reduce the employee’s and their wages. The reduce management cost will further reduce the price. Give this workers only when goverment received their bonus. 1 or two month bonus was enought. To further reduce the price, cut the maintainance cost. Be creatives.Reduce weastages. Stop reinvestment coz you only operates in the countries. Sell every business overseas and concentrate in Malaysia. All this sales can cover a lot.
This actions also applied to PLUS. to abolish Tol, you need to take pro active action. Unnessecery expenses is a no no. Maintaining the road, just go gotong royong. Repair the road, use the money you get during Petronas asset sales.

    2. with the reduce of oil price, the electricity tariff will go down. To futher reducing the tariff, ask all those senior staff to resign. If possible, cut half of tnb workers. Management cost has skr roket right now and manpower eating half of the profit. Same goes to Sains (water consortium in NS). If this implemented, the water and electricity can become free will be posibble.

    3. Reduce the car price, introduce kancil again. The cost will get lower as time goes by. Batter yet, push produa to to reduce the workers.

    4. Free higher education, Just terminate all management staff. Only lacturer is needed. they are the one who playing the important part.

    5. cannot continue my presentation. He just left me and my friends alone. Guess he didn’t like my presentation…

  14. that’s why we must let them kena one time and then next time they will vote back bn for good. afterall, they say that absence makes the heart goes fonder.

we already know pr cannot lead and will implode by their selfish three-head hydras. just like the perak coup, people will jump over and bn will have regained the parliament in no time.

worst case scenario, give them 5 years and boot them out. but i say with pas going hudud and TGIF, dap might even defect to bn or be hated. and mca will look like prophets going,..see i’ve been telling you guys all along…

    1. What?!? You wanna give me a heart attack. You give them 5 years, you wouldn’t even recognise your country anymore. Can you imagine the country’s assets and coffers in their hands? Pepatah melayu, “kera (i prefer beruk) dapat bunga” comes to mind.

    2. My husband comment : If they take over federal goverment, the first 3 years will be used to sattle all court matters. I sue you, you sue me, the allege curruptions, mis management gov fund, bribery and etc…etc…etc. The journalist will have a field day.

    3. If you want to have Monday, May 6th off, by all means vote for PR.

Helen, apparently MK got attacked as well. Could be a tit for tat response. Still is a bit difficult at times to access or read comments. Don’t think it will be fine until the madness on Sunday is well & truly over.

      http://thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=%2F2013%2F5%2F2%2Fnation%2F20130502231418&sec=nation&

    4. Nice try, sleepyhead, but you ain’t hoodwinking us decent Selangor citizens. We already gave them 5 years to test their mettle, in the same way Dr M had given Anwar a chance to prove his all those years ago. Anwar failed then. He still fails now. Ubah in Selangor!
