With ‘friends’ like MCA and Gerakan, who needs enemies

I pinched the idea for my headline above from an Anon comment in Annie’s blog.

Annie’s commenter had also remarked, “.. dia orang ni memang backstabbers and muka tak tahu malu.”

Annie thinks “more than half of Gerakan members need to be sacked for being traitors”.

She believes too that more than half of the Gerakan members voted for the opposition or “otherwise the Chinese tsunami wouldn’t be that bad”.

“The same goes with MCA,” she adds.

Lawak siot

I share Annie’s opinion that the disciplinary action of sacking merely one Gerakan member and suspending another two for carrying out internal sabotage is an effing joke.

If that is the best that Gerakan can do, might as well rather than entertaining its call for the merger of all the component parties, the BN just convey that it is preferable for Gerakan to get themselves absorbed into the DAP.

After all, Gerakan is a Chinese-based as well as Penang-based party. So what kind of support can they hope to recoup?

R.I.P.

DAP the Dino Slayer

Next, about the MCA.

Some of its Chinese critics complain that they are dissatisfied because MCA is not treated as an equal partner in the BN.

These critics should wake up and smell the satay.

Umno has 88 Parliament seats. MCA has 7.

However 6 out of these 7 MCA Parliament seats are in Malay-majority areas. On the other hand if MCA had won all of the seats given it by the BN to contest, then MCA would be 37 seats strong.

Now, is sweeping the board a realistic feat for any party? Well, Taib Mahmud’s PBB contested 14 Parliament seats in Sarawak and won all of them.

DAP performed spectacularly albeit falling short of a perfect record. The party contested 7 Parliament seats in Penang and won all 7. It contested 7 Parliament seats in Perak and won 7 too. It contested 4 seats in Selangor and won all 4 as well as contested 2 seats in Negeri Sembilan and winning both.

The bottomline is that MCA simply failed to deliver. Hence it does not make sense for the Chinese to say that they’re rejecting the ruling coalition because MCA is not treated as an equal partner to Umno.

Level of trust

How many votes can MCA garner from the BN Malays in the next round (GE14)?

The deliberate fielding of Isma-Berjasa spoiler candidates to create three-corner fights and split the BN vote bank is an indication of Malay revolt.

Yet The Star pretends that Chinese votes can be wooed to return to the BN.

Anyone reading The Star comes away with the impression that the paper’s slick editors and journos reckon Malays are plenty stupid.

Former Utusan group editor Zainuddin Maidin takes The Star to task today.

Zamkata:

“Apakah anda pernah membaca sebarang rencana yang ditulis oleh Wong Chun Wai Ketua Pengarang Kumpulan The Star dan juga Timbalan Ketua Pengarang Kumpulan II Leanne L.Y. Goh dan Pengarang Urusannya yang mengkritik DAP atau Pakatan Pembangkang?”

My comment in response: Nope. Not that I can recall.

Chun Wai did occasionally whine about the personal attacks made by oppo supporters who labelled him an “MCA stooge” and not living up to their Christian expectations, but that’s about it.

Me: Bagi kepentingan “the bottom dollar” / “… MCA’s portion of dividends declared by Star last year would amount to RM126 million”, (The Edge, 27 Sept 2011)

Me: The Star is causing untold damage to the BN.

The pie chart below shows The Star‘s readership by ethnicity. BN can write off the Chinese and their votes. However, The Star has a 26 percent Malay and 24 percent Indian readership which it is enticing to Pakatan, and more specifically to the DAP.

Me: The Tan Sri is being too kind as “tidak jujur” is an understatement. Stabbing in the back is pure treachery.

Me: Zam’s sources are correct.

And the rank-and-file are even more opposition-minded. The Scissorati are open and vocal about their political orientation in Facebook and over Twitter.

Me: I have a better idea. Just sack the MCA.

Zamkata: “The Star telah menggunting dalam lipatan.”

Undoubtedly.

Clear threat going into GE14

The Star has budgeted to spend up to RM30 million to strengthen the media group’s digital products, announced its deputy chairman Vincent Lee.

But even before this development was made public, it was already obvious that The Star had provided positive publicity for the DAP SuperCyber Bullies as well as actively promoted the online Pakatan activists and operatives who bashed the BN hardest.

Not only that, The Star has been consistently covering up for the oppo pollies (particularly the DAP evangelistas).

Screenshot above are the tweets from Star columnist Niki Cheong whom the paper bills as “senior social media analyst” (he was actually just a reporter with The Star‘s youth pullout).

Niki Cheong tweeted: “All I see is angry folks who will be voting for the first time next elections”, “Hopefully the country becomes increasingly urban. And new urban folks continue to go back to spread word”.

You can trust The Star “to spread the word” of the Gospel of Jerusubang to its 5.63 million audience.

The tsunami was a betrayal not because the Chinese voters ticked the Rocket but because of the backstabbing behaviour of the BN components and their bullshitting machinery.

  1. helen,

There’s nothing wrong with putting a non-Malay candidate in a Malay majority area. Where else to put the Indians lah?

But I agree that in GE14 it will be an issue in areas like Bandar Tun Razak, Alor Setar etc because MCA men are no longer BN’s winnable candidates.

In this regard, I feel that the BN formula has both been “betrayed” and broken down.

What is wrong is The Star pretending that the Chinese tsunami didn’t happen and that there are no repercussions in 90 percent of Chinese voters rejecting BN (c.f. Wong Chun Wai’s articles that Chinese voters must not be blamed nor “punished” for exercising their democratic right).

Of course it’s a truism that anyone can vote any party the like. But The Star belongs to the MCA and the MCA, like it or not, is facing the predicament described by Shamshul.

If Umno takes away the Malay majority seats on the calculation of winnability (since BN is fighting for its life), then by GE14 MCA’s seat haul is guarantee zero.

The BN formula (Alliance model of Malay-Chinese-Indian) is already dead. By GE14, it will be buried 6ft underground. Surely this has severe implications on race relations.

Yet em>The Scissors is spinning and spinning to cover up this Chinese shift (DAP = Gerakan = MCA) that caused the tsunami to happen.

        1. Helen,

What is even worse is that Chinese begin to believe that they can outstage the Malays. And they believe that the response is will be a muted objection.

I told my chinese friend that the Sino-Malay relationship is like ‘kaca terhempas ke batu”. Literally speaking, Malays no longer believe the chinese. and they believe that the Chinese as a race is up to something (like destroying the Malays).

What happened in Alor Setar, Padang Serai served as a reminder to UMNO. The malays will protest if chinese are representing BN in malay area. Why? Because they (Malays) know Chinese do not appreciate the generosity and goodwill that UMNO does.

Helen patut dilantik jadi ketua pengarang the star.

  3. “Christians have their own Jihads – holy wars. Instead though of killing people physically, they kill them with their words, with their rejection, with their hatred, with their hypocrisy. All in the name of what? Religion?”

    1. re: “Instead though of killing people physically, they kill them with their words”

Glad you brought this up Moya. I’ve been thinking that the Evangelista Bintang Tiga are spreading their fitnah into every corner of the land.

So it’s their personality trait that others have noticed too.

I keep asking “what kind of people are they?” I’m aghast at the kind of outrageous lies that they’re capable of cooking up.

  4. One more Helen……
“The problem with Christianity is more people profess the truth than live it. So much hypocrisy abounds that I can no longer say I count myself among them without being held to the same unachievable standard.”
    ― Shannon L. Alder

    1. re: “So much hypocrisy abounds”

I cannnot think of anything that can be truer than that, with regard to describing the DAP evangelista politicians.

  5. 10 Most Powerful Women in Malaysia as selected by the Star (pg 5)

    1. DPS Rosmah Mansor
    2. TSDS Dr Zeti Akhtar Aziz
    3. TSDS Michelle Yeoh
    4. Dato S. Ambiga
    5. YB Nurul Izzah Anwar
    6. YB Hannah Yeoh
    7. YB Teresa Kok
    8. Geethanjali G.
    9. Datuk Jamelah Jamaluddin
    10. DP Marina Mahathir

The citation makes interesting reading especially for the 6th most powerful woman in the country. She basically earned it on the basis of being appointed the first woman speaker & the youngest. Thought the Selangor assembly ain’t sworn in yet?

So 3/10 are from opposition parties or 4 if you consider Ambiga’s support for them. 2 in finance. 1 each in entertainment & business. 1 an activist while the other the PM’s wife. The nominees are supposedly selected from 7 categories: millionaires, business, lifestyle, media, nonprofits & NGO, politics & technology.

Why lah the selection committee has no balls to put Hannah up top above the FLOM? Looks like operation claiming Malaysia for Jesus is moving along steadily & nicely

    1. When my blog first started highlighting HY, the Dapsters mocked that I was wasting everybody’s time picking on a small fry of no consequence.

But just as I was absolutely correct in forecasting the MCA wipe-out and the evolution of the two race system, I am correct about HY.

The Dapsters also accused that I was envious of her. The accusation shows the calibre of the Dapsters rather than the accused (me).

It is HY that has been screaming “racist” and “low class” at everyone and alleging that others are unable to differentiate between race and nationality. And she’s the one who deleted tweets when she was caught fibbing and blocked many tweeters from her timeline.

Very early on even before my blog started, the MCA girls had already latched on that she is a “DAP SuperCyber Bully”. The label was given HY by the Beliawanis MCA national treasurer.

She is a powerful woman today largely thanks to the creation of the media. The blog Gelagat Anwar has exposed how the PKR Khalid faction has been pushing HY up, https://helenang.wordpress.com/2012/12/11/geng-khalid/

which explains the state media machinery incl. Media Selangorku and needless to mention the S’gor Times building up her image. But more influential of all, The Star.

My blog has anticipated Dapsterism becoming a virulent strain and I’m correct to pinpoint Papa Dapster and Mama Dapster.

In all of this, the role of the MCA owned- and MCA-controlled media in proselytizing Dapsterism must be looked into by their political rivals the BN.

      1. Teresa Kok has long been seen as the most powerful woman in DAP, overshadowing Baldy Betty even.

I think it is fair to say that Hannah is on her way to dethroning Teresa since TK is no longer an ADUN & state exco. In fact I wouldn’t be surprised to see HY moving up to contest a parliamentary seat next time round, perhaps even in Seputeh.

HY is where she is today is due primarily to the carefully planned propagation of her public face. As a Chinese who registered her offspring a Chinese, she had locked up the Chinese votes long ago. Her many tudung-ed appearances was also done to entice the Malay/Muslim bloc. And to complete the triumvirate, she woos the Christians which includes a sizable number of Indians with her Allah crusade.

We can then safely conclude if ever there was a subject required for a case study on the propagation of a cult personality, you have a ready made one in Hannah.

        1. re: “the propagation of a cult personality”

For the cult to be cultivated among the masses, you need a mass media vehicle.

While S’gor Times does it amply in the state, it is The Star that propagates the cult at national level to 5.63 million adults across multi-media channels and platforms.

        2. “the propagation of a cult personality”

I would say Tun Dr. M would be a much better specimen for case study. Lots of deluded people here think their problems would magically disappear if he is made PM again. Even the informal poll on Syed Akbar Ali’s blog shows that.

          1. My lords, my ladies, and everybody else here not sitting on a cushion!

Today… today, you find yourselves equals.

For you are all equally blessed. For I have the pride, the privilege, nay, the pleasure of introducing to you to a knight, sired by knights.

A knight who can trace his lineage back beyond Charlemagne (Batu Pahat).

I first met him atop a mountain near Jerusalem, praying to God, asking his forgiveness for the Saracen (UMNO) blood spilt by his sword (tongue).

Next, he amazed me still further in Italy (entah kat mana) when he saved a fatherless beauty from the would-be ravishing of her dreadful Turkish (Malay) uncle.

In Greece (Simpang Renggam) he spent a (few) year in silence just to better understand the sound of a whisper.

And so without further gilding the lily and with no more ado, I give to you,

            the seeker of serenity,

the protector of Italian (Malay) virginity,

the enforcer of our Lord God,

            the one, the only,

Sir Ulllrrrich von Lichtenstein (Limmmmmm Guan Enggggg)!

*Borrowed from Geoffrey Chaucer’s character in A Knight’s Tale played by Paul Bettany.

So, if TDM qualifies as a subject in a study of cult personalities, surely LGE would provide a similarly excellent insight if not better no?

    2. So they are making Rosmah Mansor as our most powerful woman???? Something smell fishy here! If Hannah Yeoh is given the “Autonomous Power” as Selangor dUN Speaker, then, she really has the power.

Anyway, for me, my wife is the most powerful woman in Malaysia. Who else can ask to to buy just a loaf of bread at 1 am. ” Go to 7E, buy bread”……..yackkkk. Dreadful..hehehe

      1. LOL

No one, and I mean no one can make me carry her handbag & roam all over Pavilion for 3-4 hours while she has her hair cut, treated & permed. Unless that’s the missus, of course.

As for Rosmah being the most powerful woman, Star don’t wanna offend her for now maaa… WCW takut kena C4 kot?

      2. Agree with you.. should put ‘wife’ as the most powerfull woman in our life..

Nobody.. repeat nobody.. can make me stay at home instead watch my MU with my friends @ mamak just because that days happen to be our engagement anniversary.. OMG why she not just satisfied with anniversary of marriage and birthday..

        1. re: “engagement anniversary”

Try asking her the date of your first date. Sentimental women remember these kind of things.

          1. Sure she remember that day but luckily she just celebrate our engagement, wedding and birthday.. Women is really wonderful creature although sometimes make us headache.. :)

  6. I am still waiting for Utusan to accuse STAR of being a nest of DAP/PR sympathisers and a propaganda tool of DAP/PR.

Utusan can easily quote Helen’s blog for all the proof it needs.

Tapi nampaknya, segagah-gagah Utusan ni dengan thrashing UMNO enemies in its papers, takut pulak dengan MCA yg dalam keadaan hidup segan mati tak mau.

  7. Did you see Page 3 of the Bintang 3? The most powerful women in Malaysia. The 2 Yeohs Michelle vs Hannah. And Ambiga and Nurul. And Rosmah on top. But it seems it is PR skewed. So Bintang 3.

Oh yes one question. Seems like the Bintang 3 is placing so much highlight to the UMNO Buidling tradgedy.
    http://thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=/2013/6/18/nation/13252049&sec=nation

But the environmental issues brewing south of the island is ignored. Bukit Gambir of DAP let us forget about it.
    http://anilnetto.com/economy/development-issues/whats-happening-in-bukit-gambir-part-2/

Remember UMNO is devil. Bangunan UMNO runtuh is Victory but DAP project runtuh it is an act of God.

Oh yes. Mukhriz is reading your blog lah. The watrr issue http://www.thesundaily.my/news/744648
You don’t see this in Bintang 3.

  8. Did you see the comments in Malaysiakini on the UMNO Building tradegey. Most of it is UMNO no good, cheat, courupt etc.

Harapanbaru: The ‘lightning arrestor’ appeared outsized and only for show – so typical of everything BN does.

FellowMalaysian: It is very likely that the city council and the previous state government be called to answer for the highly unusual practice of issuing the commencement of work permit some 18 months before any building plans were submitted.

But this one is a gem
Pariah Man: Who was Penang Umno chief then? It was all to make the boss happy. He was none other than Pakatan Rakyat’s candidate for prime minister, Anwar Ibrahim.

    Touche!

  9. The same question can be asked, with friends like Umno and many readers in this blog with their chauvinistic “Malay first, screw everyone else” attitude… who needs enemies.

Clearly with such attitudes, the MCA, Gerakan, MIC have trouble trying to win back votes.

    1. How could MCA and Gerakan hope to winning back the votes for BN when 90% of their own members voted for DAP?

    2. LPF classifies this comment as 18.

Our answer to AC-DC. With Artificial Intelligence Anwar, “screw front, screw back” attitude …. who needs enemies.
You can do that with sex. You can do that with elections too like pinch from BN (circa 2008) but complaint Perak BN pinch back. You accept election results and positions but protest fraud.(circa 2013).

“screw front, screw back” attitude – can be used other purposes that for sex
