KJ willing to pay officer high salary for best service

Excerpt below from Malaysiakini story today on Khairy justifying the “fat salaries” given to outsiders currently taken into government.

kj

“Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin today justified high salaries for officers contracted to government agencies, saying they are needed to attract top talent.

In a series of tweets to DAP’s Serdang MP Ong Kian Ming , Khairy said that it would be “shortsighted” to argue otherwise.

‘You obviously disagree with bringing (in) top individuals with private sector experience to improve public service. How shortsighted…

‘Realistically, we need to pay to get the best. Plus, many still take a pay cut (to join government agencies). As I said, shortsighted,’ he said on the microblogging site.”

DAP’s Serdang MP Ong Kian Ming responded to KJ saying he (@imokman) doesn’t disagree with bringing the officers in but they should just be paid public sector salary as “after all, it is national service, or so many claim”.

Glad to hear that the Youth Minister’s staff brought in from outside are doing “national service” in his Ministry. How patriotic.

  1. I am not against high salary but agencies like Talentcorp and SPAD got anything to show after all these years?

  2. I find the definition of ‘top people’ & ‘the best’ laughable. how do 20+ year olds qualify as ‘top people’ & ‘the best’? Doesn’t make any sense.

    1. Syed is what we say.. kene mandrem. But you are welcome to propagate his queer ideals in your intelligent conversations with other DAPsters.

      1. Could not agree more with you there, some visitors here loves to tuhan worship SO.

Anything on Islam also, they would referenced him.

  3. I might disagree with the implementation, but Khairy’s arguments seem sound to me. I ain’t no fan of this fella, but what he says here is right. That’s what SG does, after all.

You pay peanuts, you get donkeys.

Someone should tell those Malaysian Chinese who are running SG machinery and private sector to come back here and accept a pay cut as their patriotic duty. Do something about it for a change instead of just bitching about it non-stop.

    1. Singapore takes the GST, but do not use the GST on social services, the republic has no public health system(they pay with your CPF money!!), no support for the old/disable and almost no social safety net despite the GST incresed from 3% to 7% and they plan to increase to 10%.

It will be up to the government and check and balance from the opposition to ensure the GST revenue are channeled to social developments. Singapore is not a good model on how to use its revenue, because its citizens have become human slaves.

      1. ‘because its citizens have become human slaves.’

Just like in the US. Americans are starting to get the feeling that they are being taken for a ride by the government of the day.

Oh, I so pray that some of these ingrates would migrate to the US or EU for that matter.

Asia and SEA is where the money is, even as we speaks, Americans are spending on Asian’s wealth. And yet some bijak pandai would want us to go the Americans way. Not to mention jemput Obama to bomb this country.

What have we end up ourselves with?!

        1. re: “What have we end up ourselves with?!”

Endless possibilities in the Minister’s office.

  4. Lantak kaulah Khairy. Kan dia dah dapat mandat 100% dari semua bahagian pemuda umno. Jadi dalam erti kata lain apa yang khairi fikir itulah fikiran pemuda Umno. Boss dia pun apa kurang. Apa kita cakap pun tak guna….

    Kalu SiLuncai dgn Labunya,

    UMNO pulak dgn Khairynya.

Dan banyak lagi orang macam Khairy dalam UMNO.

  5. So i would guess KJ considers Pemandus Dungus top people, if the were that good they would not be with Pemandu , they would have been headhunted by larger organizations.

Its all about the $$$ which 20 something individual with 1 or 2 years working experience in malaysia can earn 20 k or more ….they not there for their talent, their job scope is more towards analysis and reporting and at the end of the day churn out a KPI or KRA or whatever reporting.

  6. Ong KIian Ming as per usual DAP, is using the government servants as the alternative to the Malay bogeyman or UMNO bashing.

I guess to them, the best Malay civil servant is Anwar Ibrahim who give RM1 economic advice for RM1 in DAP reigned Selangor. LOL.

    1. ‘I guess to them, the best Malay civil servant is Anwar Ibrahim who give RM1 economic advice for RM1 in DAP reigned Selangor.’

      You’ve put it best!!!

  7. Helen,

Like it or not, KJ is right.

In the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king :)

Malaysia has a surplus of half-past-six graduates who become a surplus of half-past-six professionals who are as good as blind for all intents and purposes.

Nobody in their right mind would trust any of those half-past-six professionals to do anything important.

Serving hamburgers is probably about as far as one would want to trust them with.

Many of those half-past-six professionals end up whiling away the hours in dead end jobs in the bowels of some government department.

Let’s not kid each other. I know this to be true, you know this to be true, and KJ knows this to be true.

Here is a dirty little secret I will share with you.

Many of those half-past-six graudates who jet off on Petronas scholarships to the far corners of the earth to finish their degrees cannot handle the pace in the Mat Salleh universities. They struggle – badly.

Many of them pass their final exams only because the Mat Sallehs know that failing those half-past-six students would mean the loss of a good and lucrative source of revenue.

    1. ‘half-past-six graduates’

Are you talking about the Malays?

‘Serving hamburgers is probably about as far as one would want to trust them with.’

Uhmm. Surely, you must be talking about the Malays, right?

‘Many of those half-past-six graudates who jet off on Petronas scholarships to the far corners of the earth to finish their degrees cannot handle the pace in the Mat Salleh universities. They struggle – badly.’

OK. So you are talking about the Malays then. Kan?

‘Let’s not kid each other. I know this to be true, you know this to be true, and KJ knows this to be true.’

Contrary to you ideals, err, An Unimportant Person, hearsay is not fact.

BTW have you manage to find the link that proves the vile and baseless allegation made by you on the Malaysian Polis and Tentera.

Can we have enough of this, ‘I know and you know’ BS without substantiated proof to begin with?

Otherwise, you are no different than the half past six, that you seems to know a lot of.

      Are you one?

      1. islamist1,

“Can we have enough of this, ‘I know and you know’ BS without substantiated proof to begin with?”

Just go look in any university, any government department, any GLC.

Talk to the people you see there and decide for yourself how smart they are. You seem to know how to work things out yourself.

You don’t need any proof from me. I am an unimportant person.

        1. Some people just like to live in denial. They seem to forget that they are the ones who voted in the people that they cursing right now.

Was it KJ who set up Talentcorp?

May be we are wrong. May be DAP is the party that set up Talentcorp. And who is the chairperson for Pemandu?

          LGE?

        2. Dear An Unimportant Person,

Well for one, I did ask you whether you are talking about the Malays. Assurance is all I need.

Wouldn’t it be best if you could just state your piece straight forward, with links, once in a while, copy paste would be fine too, to prove a point.

People don’t prove a point with ‘I know it and you know it, too’ alone.

Especially when the allegations was serious as the one that you have made on the Polis and Tentera, having a policy of not wanting to take in non Bumis. Helen had proven you wrong.

Perhaps some coolies do. And of course there’s nothing that you can do to these people to make them think otherwise. I just hope that you’ll stop going their way. Enough is enough.

          1. islamist1,

Does it really matter who I am talking about?

I would have thought that what I am talking about is more important and relevant.

I am talking about a broken education system which is producing sub-standard results and you are more concerned about your own interest group!!

If you are not willing to open your eyes and look around you, if you are not willing to think, all the links, all the cut n paste ain’t gonna be any use to you.

Of cos, if you believe that the Malaysian education system is producing top class high quality world’s best graduates, then what I am saying would be nonsense, right?

I would then just have to do what I am asking you to do – that is to look around and see the evidence of your assertions.

I have forgotten which article I posted my comment on the Polis and Tentera and I am still looking to see what Helen said in response.

I don’t think I have ever agreed with anything Helen has written but I do have high regard for her, often carefully considered, opinion. Strange, isn’t it? :)

Anyway, please allow me to find the article again because I don’t think I said there was a policy in the Polis and Tentera to not taking in non-Bumis but I would like to re-read what I actually said and the responses.

I seldom monitor my comments because I consider my opinions to be unimportant.

          2. islamist1,

I have had an opportunity to review my post in “Gerakan bashing Perkasa but says nothing about DAP”.

I am sorry but I was unable to find where I had said the Polis and Tentera had a policy of not wanting to take in non-Bumis.

May I suggest that you re-read the comment I made? Carefully? Please?

  8. Big bike anybody ? Do you have the talent to ride one ?

Orang senior gaji beribu je, tapi yang muda-muda berpuluh malah beratus ribu. Budak kecil bermain api….

Now they dont pay with peanuts. They pay with real handsome money , samdol(ing)and monkeying around. Lucrative steeks and styles. This applies to lima bintang too with their talented tiga bintang. Again, talents that have nothing to do with us !

No wonder most of the gov. staff are in the bad moods…. Tun M says, weak governances. I think so.

    1. And how dare that Maslan had mock us by telling us that her wife barely finishes the satu kilo gula they had at home, monthly.

Er, Maslan, you and wife makan kat luar hari-hari ke? Sehari berapa kali? Sapa bayar?

So Maslan, please kalau nak justify about the gula naik thingy pun, tak payahlah bawak, lawak dalam kelambu masuk TV!

          1. Lobster GST-free izzit? Maybe lobster dish low sugar content, wei … If you wanna cut down sugar intake, eat lobster.
