One of this blog’s commenters Anak Bukit Gantang @ 2013/11/12 at 7:02 am remarked that if Marina Mahathir were sincere, she would relinquish her Sisters In Islam position.
Earlier in her press statement, Marina threatened to take legal action against Isma for accusing her “of being one of the ‘dalangs’ (masterminds) behind Comango”.
She claims that Isma’s allegation, which she views as defamatory, is “wholly untrue”.
Explaining that although she is a board member of Sisters in Islam – one of the NGOs in the coalition – she is nonetheless, her position as member of the board notwithstanding, “not involved in any way in the Comango process”.
The facts are these
SIS is in every way possible involved in the Comango process and features as one of the prominent backbone NGOs lending its name to the coalition.
At the same time SIS board member Marina Mahathir is adamant that she is “not involved in any way in the Comango process”.
But …
Well, Marina is undeniably associated with SIS which is undeniably associated with Comango, isn’t she?
In fact, SIS not only has Marina on board but Nori Abdullah too, another daughter of an ex-premier (Abdullah Ahmad Badawi) and wife of the “liberal and progressive” Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin. You can say that SIS is quite the glitterati.
Ambiga Sreenevasan is Bersih chairman and Irene Fernandez is Tenaganita executive director. Both their NGOs are involved in the Comango process.
The face of SIS
Now if only Marina were willing to disassociate herself from SIS, then the Muslim public as well as Muslim NGOs such as Isma would, as the natural consequence of events, disassociate her from the logical perception of being somewhat involved the Comango process due to her longstanding role in SIS.
Will she do this – resign as SIS board member – rather than threatening to sue, sue, sue all the accuser(s) and all the media carrying Isma’s flyer?

She is in a minority. As someone said she is one of those “Malaysians” living an exotic lifestyle. the 1% people. People like her know nothing of the average Malaysian.
She will not quit though. SIS is platform for her and it is a platform filled with the 1% people.
Is she sincere ? No ! Of course not ! If she is sincere, she would have chosen a lesser known platform. Her choice of being with SIS spoke volume of her position.
She is not intellectually bright. If she is, why would she resort to lawsuits to silence her detractors ? Resorting to lawsuits is indeed telling. She’s just below average.

As British journalist Claud Cockburn once said, ‘Never believe anything until it’s officially denied and she has already denied being involved in anyway with Comango. That too is quite revealing.

This is easy to answer. Who do you think are the most fanatical supporters of the opposition ? D A P S T E R S !
The Chinese in general have a low opinion of her. So the Chinese are not going to buy her snake oil.
The Indians have too many problems of their own so I doubt they will notice her and her antics.
Islam/Muslims have been insulted by her so they too will not be taken in but who knows ? Maybe some cultists will support her.
On the contrary. Marina Mahathir has a favourable image among many non Muslims too.

Sheeshhh… Marina.. she never even had a real job.. never did any job.. except for given privelege to chair or to be board member of NGOs of which we don’t even know whether she has expertise in.. someone who read her or second her must be a blunder as well..
