Article 153

Article 153 was inserted in the federal constitution to provide protection to the  Malays. It is to protect them from the Chinese, today which takes the form of the evangelista Bintang Lima.

Lately the Chinese and Indian Firsters begitu memandai that they’ve taken to lecturing Malays on what is Islam and Islamic, and what is not.

As well the definition of what it means to be Malay is being determined by them (the Chinese and the “I’m-not-Indian-actually”). Hence the Dapsters choose to bestow their recognition upon Zairil Khir Johari as a Malay while at the same time refusing to acknowledge Dr Mahathir Mohamad as one.

Not forgetting that they alone decide what is “racist” and who is “extremist”.

  1. You do realize the holier than thou attitude is everywhere, and definitely not limited to one side of the aisle. Those spewing self righteous babble should take a long look in the mirror, but at the same time, those at the receiving end ought to understand others are privy to their views, opinions and criticism . It would do everyone good to take some lessons in humility.

Those who agree this kind of opinionated holy beyond reproach race-based assertion is deplorable then remember not to be a hypocrite and proceed to do exactly just that by taunting another who is born on this land, a bona fide Malaysian, with racial slurs. Self defining what it is for another to qualify as Malaysian, eg. Patriotism, fluent BM, not attending vernacular schools, not voting opposition, drive Proton etc, ahem, too qualifies as self righteousness. You know, just saying. The path to hypocrisy is so easily accessible.

      1. I am not disagreeing with you.

I merely widen the scope of self righteousness to better reflect the reality on the ground. Sort of to balance the perspectives in order not to be seen condoning one side while chastising the other on the very issue.

        Cheers

But some of your esteemed sanctimonious blog comment contributors ought to be. If not, where is the elusive line that separate one from another?

            1. here’s one!

‘BALI, INDONESIA, November 22, 2013 (opposingviews.com): A Christian woman was sentenced to a prison term of 14 months in Bali, where the majority of people practice Hinduism, after she called offerings “dirty and disgusting,” the Supreme Court of Indonesia announced.

“The defendant Rusgiani, who is also known as Yohana, has been proven validly and convincingly guilty of purposefully and publicly expressing herself in a way to ignite conflict and defame a certain religion in Indonesia,” said chief judge Anak Agung Ketut Anom Wirakanta during the trial at the Denpasar District Court. “[The judges] have sentenced the defendant to one year and two months in prison.”‘

    2. Oh well, I’m still driving my old beloved Proton Iswara for the past 12 years. It’s not out of patriotism or being a hardcore Proton supporter, but merely because of wanting to keep my personal finances under lid. Keep a simple life, free of debt and stay away from materialism (save earth by decreasing consumption yah- don’t keep changing mobile gadgets every year and waste the time by checking Facebook with it). SAA just posted yesterday that M’sia is on the course of a financial disaster based on what PM Najib said the other day, so it’s better to sediakan payung sebelum hujan. Now that TDM is gone, I don’t know if Najib is good enough to manage the finances. OK, ok, I better don’t comment too much about financial management here, it’s about politics in Helen’s blog (or are they also related to politics?)

    3. Hello HH… What ‘self-defining’ are you talking about? Can you please repeat after me, “FE-DE-RAL CON-STI-TU-TION”.

      Amacam? Boleh?

I don’t know if your original contention is for or against my remark. Hard to read your intention from your retort. If I have to hazard a guess, I would say your sarcasm is misdirected.

Feel free to spew your barb on those who find it fitting to up the bar and redefine what is ‘Malaysian’ with their self delusional benchmark.

  2. re: “Lately the Chinese and Indian Firsters begitu memandai that they’ve taken to lecturing Malays on what is Islam and Islamic, and what is not.”

Do they mention in their lecture that informed Muslims understand that the bible they now refer to is a humanly-corrupted piece of scripture? Evil scribes and priests have distorted even their own Prophets of the Lord Most High, for their own all-too-worldly ambitions.

Thomas Jefferson, questioning the miracles of the New Testament while approving of some of Jesus’s moral sentiments, produced a thin volume called The Jefferson Bible, edited literally with a razor cut and paste. Jefferson removed many of the contradictions, atrocities and absurdities from the Bible and, in the end, there weren’t many pages left.

Many Christians I know don’t accept the Adam and Eve story but then accept the resurrection story. Not only is this a contradiction but it is the most ridiculous of all cherry-picks. Without the Adam-and-Eve story there is no need for redemption. Therefore no reason at all for the Christ fable.

  3. Suruh Hannah Yeoh buat survey berapa banyak anak Cina di sekolah Cina bolih berbahasa Malaysia!

Dan kenapa Dong Zhong tak support sekolah Satu Malaysia.

    Jangan pandai buat komen sahaja.

You are good at finding fault of others….. now look at yourself !

    1. Anak Bangsa Malaysia tapi Bahasa Malaysia tatau cakap!!! Imagine if Obama speaks fluent Swahili and tongkanged English, would Americans still vote for him?

Imagine Michael Jackson sings in Swahili, would he be the MJ that he is?

  4. Firsters can say anything about Tun M.. the fact is he is a well loved Malaysian that have done a lot for the country whereas the Firsters are just whiners who only love to spread hatred in the guise of self-righteousness. Most Malaysians can see them for what they are – arrogant prick hypocrites.

    1. re: “Most Malaysians can see them for what they are – arrogant prick hypocrites.”

Not all. HY has her dedicated apologists.

      1. Those are not her apologists. They are her coolies. Her slaves. And they keep on coming to her church in SJ.

A church is a place of worship but her church in SJ is more like a place to convert more people to become her coolies, slaves. What she is doing is nothing new. 2 centuries ago the British brought Chinese from coastal areas of China to Malaya to work as coolies while the White Men get to enjoy all the bounty and the fruits of the coolies’ labor.

Now in 21 century Malaysia, the new White Men, in the form of the Evangelists, have continued where the White Men had left off, the civilizing mission, this time also targeting the Chinese.. oops sorry the coolies’ descendants to become their new coolies. While the New White Men a.k.a the Evangelists are enjoying the fruits of the new coolies’ labor, the coolies are going to, sooner or later, face the backlash of the Malay Muslim majority.

  5. Najib just announced Majlis Konsultasi Perpaduan Nasional. I see some “bridge builders” there:) And that Anas guy.

    1. Bridge builders? Marina Mahathir? Wardina? Ini semua pro-pembangkang yang memang anti kerajaan. Najib has really lost his mind. Waytha is a good example of the folly that he has made.

      1. re: “Waytha is a good example of the folly that he has made.”

It was a strategic calculation on the eve of GE13. I was told the Hindraf support made a difference in some marginal constituencies. Labis was one where Hindraf went to the ground to campaign for MCA’s Chua Tee Yong (Soi Lek’s son) but whose candidacy The J-Star appeared to sabotage.

See, The Star tikam belakang anak Chua Soi Lek

      2. The bridge to the opposition bench for him and his party after GE14. He is still in denial. This is not going to work. He thinks that by being benevolent people will reciprocate. This is nonsense.

He should look to Singapore and China. Look at how those 2 governments manage dissent. But the North Korean model would also work fine here too but unfortunately for him, he can’t implement the North Korean model here because the model is already in use in Penang.

      3. Let see how thing turns out. I am really interested to see how this thing progresses. I remember Pak Lah has initiated something like this before but was opposed (the interfaith panel headed by Hajah Ilani).

Now with all the bangsa Malaysia rethoric and even Muhajid’s bridge-building overtures (he is in the council) it will be interesting.

    2. Zack,

      “Majlis Konsultasi Perpaduan negara”. Hmmmnnnn..

Why do we need it now? why , as a reflection, racism was under control during the tenure of Dr Mahathir?

Because Dr Mahathir does not tolerate nonsense. He is firm. He is not there as the PM to please people. He is responsible to the nation.

He has no qualm in putting people in ISA. So by doing that he sent message that he does not tolerate rubbish from anyone including those from his own government.

Remember those from MCA detained under ISA? Remember Dr zahid too had his days in ISA?

That is Dr mahathir’s way. And his method is effective. He is much reviled. But he has the respect.

But Abdullah Badawi and Najib are two different leaders. Najib is so eager to please those against UMNO. He thought by dissolving ISA will bring votes.

      He was mistaken.

“selalu kena kencing sebab suka sangat dengar nasihat dari orang mahu jahanamkan UMNO, Melayu’

      1. “Remember those from MCA detained under ISA? Remember Dr zahid too had his days in ISA?

That is Dr mahathir’s way. And his method is effective.’

Remember the day in the 80s, JStar kena tutup.

  6. Oklah. kalau DAPster dan INDIANster nak pertikai semua perkara berkaitan Melayu, Islam dan Raja2.. Maka Melayu dgn ini boleh mempertikaikan taraf kewarganegaraan keturunan mereka yg diperolehi melalui JUS SOLI. Jgn kata tidak adil pula. Kamu yg buka Flood Gate..

Indonesia, Filipina apa yg mereka dpt sbg hak? Cubalah ada sekelumit rasa bersyukur..

  8. We should ask ourselves how many non Chinese are there in Chinese schools. We have seen complaints of many readers that they are marginalised for employment as they cannot speak or read Mandarin. We also hear our complaints that many Chinese students cannot speak or write proper Malay. We also know that in the DAP leadership the banana man rules. Why such a scenario?

The psyche of the Chinese educated is that the Chinese language is superior and anything else is inferior, thus is the insistence of the Mandarin language. Any Chinese who cannot speak or read Chinese are treated as Banana or unChinese. So how does the Banana tackle the Chinese educated? Infiltrate like how LGE and the rest of the DAP did.

Send their kids to the Chinese schools. The banana kids will infiltrate the extremely misogynist Chinese educated as become part of them. (You can ask how many Xavierian or Free School parents their kids to St Xaviers or Free School. They send them to Chung Ling).

One thing about Banana education which has its roots of colonial education is the colonial though. If you cannot beat them, join them. The Chinese educated are extremely proud and arrogant of their education and sees anyone without Chinese education with spite. Join them, send their kids their (so did many Malays and Indians).

These Chinese educated always think that they are superior and arrogant. They still think Malays and Indians are inferior as they cannot understand the Chinese education way. Up to today, many Chinese use racial slurs in Chinese among themselves when talking about Malay and Indians not knowing many Malays and Indians study at Chinese schools and now Chinese.
These people think that Bananas, Malay and Indians will never catch up and learn their Mandarin.

So Teong nang please think before you utter something in Chinese. Today many Malays and Indians understand what you say.

    1. I had a class in Mandarin but gave up because any language using symbols is difficult to learn and master. You have to memorize a lot. No wonder China itself has simplified the writing but not Taiwan (because to differentiate them from China).

Anyway I think China will not become a superpower, one of the reasons is because of their short-sighted one child policy which they have admitted recently.

And other thing is because of the lack of religious faith in their system.

    2. re: “These Chinese educated always think that they are superior and arrogant. They still think Malays and Indians are inferior as they cannot understand the Chinese education way.”

Maybe these Cina chauvinists think that Wahhabi terrorism are native to Malay culture, or that Brahmin caste discrimination is truly Indian. Who can blame them for that? But why is it that they keep idolizing Chin Peng who is the anti-thesis of Confucian-Buddhist principles and ethics. Cakap tak serupa buat bukan?

What is also not Confucian-Buddhist are their shallow market force idioms like: “big fish will eat small fish”… “you don’t take advantage over others they will do it before you” …. “no money no talk” … “if he curse your mother then curse him harder”

      1. re: “their shallow market force idioms like: “big fish will eat small fish”… “you don’t take advantage over others they will do it before you” …. “no money no talk” …

The evangelsita outlook which you describe explains their attitude shown to the Kg Buah Pala cowherds and why the cyberspace which they populate is strewn with abusive language denoting their abusive, aggressive and violent thoughts.

        Most definitely un-Buddhist.

  9. We all know that all of these DAPsters will never respect the Malays.
They will try their best to be the Emperor and Empress of Malaysia. I heard that their supporters are bad naming our country overseas. We should kick these DAPsters out. They are giving the true Malaysian Chinese a bad name lah.

All was well before this. But they have to ruined it all up. I blame it on the Malays too… If not for the power hungry Malay people of PAS and PKR, these Chinese Dapster wont be able to say Sh** about anything.

The real racist is DAP. Everyone knows that. But Pakatan people are too dumb or to arrogant to accept that,

And what about PAS? Maybe all the Dap members forgot, how PAS cursed UMNO and condemn it to hell for working with the Chinese and Indians.

    Who’s the real racist here?

Btw, Kak Helen, I love your blog. :)

  10. What is Christianity? The JSubang Christianity is not the kind of Christianity I learned at the convent. The new Christianity is all about magic and talking in tongues and tithes and disco partying. Why is it so popular with the Chinese?

This boils down to the folk beliefs of the Chinese. The so called Pai Ang Kong which supposedly is based on Tao and Buddhism and based on folklore. The question is how rooted is the Taoist and Buddhists believe in Taoism or Buddhism. One question is how many Chinese have actually read the Tao Te Ching or Sutras? Very few. Unlike the Abrahamic religions, the reading and understanding of the Bible, Koran or Torah is essential. For many Chinese, they can live and die without even opening the Tao Te Ching or Sutra.
Superstition is rampant in Chinese life. How many times have we heard of gatal mediums and fake monks? Unlike Islam, there is no form of policing in Chinese folk religion.

What about new Christianity? It is a new revamped form of Chinese folk religion which is born in the Middle East. The difference between the nuns and JSubang is that the nuns do not pray in tongues or do healing. This practice sits well with the Chinese and this is resonant of the sinseh and healers. Since being Christian means trying to be modern and western and new Christianity is all about fun and magic, new Christianity sticks well. (Old Christianity has no singing and dancing – only lots of old traditions… so tak laku.)

You would notice the services at JSubang are full but old fashion Cantonese/Hockien speaking Methodist churches are empty. (In fact you see a lot of Pinoy workers at the old Catholic churches.)
Anybody who has read the Bible would know in the book of Exodus, that Christians must follow the 10 commandments. Tithes and avoidance of pork are laws which can be OKed by grace. Tithes like pork avoidance is secondary in nature. You can avoid paying tithes and eat pork because of grace. But to the Jsubangers, it is a sin NOT to pay tithes but OK to eat pork. Why? Protect your wealth and not drive away your customers (which is pork eating).
Why do “Taoist and Buddhists” fear new Christianity? Money, influence lor. Became a Christian. Replace Por Tor with Easter. New Christians stop practicing Chinese ritual. Everything folk religion is taboo. The loss of devotee is loss of income for one religion and gain for another.

One thing a Muslim Malay is different from the Chinese is that the teachings of the Koran is rooted in Malay life. A Muslim cannot get through life without some form of religious studies and one must at have read the Koran. Not so for the Chinese. The followers of the dialect church services can go about never ever reading the Bible like many Chinese have gone through life never even opening and reading the Tao Te Ching or Sutra.

    1. Mulan,

The danger of evangelical Christianity is that people like Hannah Yeoh and Mr Hannah are lay preachers in the various churches.

      1. These “devotees” will believe in anything including lay preachers who have very little knowledge in the Bible including our friendly husband and wife.

I remember one case in the 80s (reported in the JStar) a boy tried to kill himself because pastor said masturbation is dirty and devilish.

In the new Church anyone can preach, unlike the Catholic way where one must be a preacher FULL time (including giving up one’s day life)

          1. It is a mistake to differentiate between religious dogma, any religious dogma of the Abrahamic faiths. They are all a danger to those who believe in secular values, of which most democratic States adhere to.

Christianity went through a civilizing process but the Holy See is as much a danger as Evangelism or Islam (Plan B, anyone ?) for that matter.

Re. Onanism. What can I say, your happiness in your own hands. Anyway most religions are conservative (sic) so pointing to Evangelism is meaningless.

            1. The point is that Islam is the Religion of the Federation, the YDP Agong and the Sultans are the heads of Islam, their regalia is steeped in Islamic symbolism (crescent), we have syariah courts, Mufti in every state, jabatan-jabatan agama Islam, pejabat kadi and Islam is embedded in the structure of government (if you go to the Selangor state admin building, you will see that it carries an Islamic motto), ‘Allah’ is in the crest of our state agencies such as PDRM, the majority of the population is Muslim and the region (Nusantara with the hundreds of Indonesians and the hudud-compliant Brunei) has an Islamic culture.

              Islam is the status quo.

Evangelism with their cries of “Rise up and let’s take Subang / the city (KL) for Jesus”, “Malaysia belongs to Jesus” is upsetting the status quo. The UBAH chameleons are also upsetting the majority population and rightly so, because the behaviour of the Evangelista Bintang Tiga is melampau.

              1. All the vilification of Christianity/Christians is nothing more than your endeavour to maintain what you perceived to be the ‘rightful order of things?’

OK, now I know. I felt like a fucking idiot.

                1. Islam is secured by the law of the land and in the sovereignty of the country.

Rising up to take Malaysia for Jesus will only cause disorder, which is anarchy.

              2. Democracy is the status quo.

And under such a system religious groups are allowed to pander to their demographic any way they wish. Islam’s influence in the Peninsular is different from it’s influence in Sabah and Sarawak – esp the latter. This too points to democratic conventions and not some kind all encompassing Religious state.

OKM for instance in his inaugural open-ed piece claimed that Malaysia was not a democracy. This of course is a blatant lie but then again, there are many in the Establishment who would like to give truth to this lie.

I have no idea if the majority of the population or the majority in the Peninsular are upset by the propaganda of the Evangelists but I do know that it makes convenient propaganda even if it’s efficacy is in doubt.

                1. re: “I have no idea if the majority of the population or the majority in the Peninsular are upset by the propaganda of the Evangelists”

The latest folks to be upset are the Muslims of Bandar Kinrara 2 who protested against Majlis Perbandaran Subang Jaya (MPSJ) for allowing “usaha untuk menyebarkan ajaran Kristian secara halus”.

“program seperti itu [yang dianjurkan Calvary Life Groups] menimbulkan rasa tidak puas hati masyarakat sekeliling terhadap MPSJ yang memberi kelulusan kepada pihak Jawatankuasa Penduduk (JKP) Zon 18 untuk mengadakan program tersebut.”

    2. PS One visiting pastor from UK told me that Penang (Betelham) services are SO long. In the UK, in 45 minutes the service is over. in Penang so as long as 3 hours. One lady prayed for a handphone, another for parking. Nobody prayed for world peace.

Agak2 bangsa apa yang terkena gelaran tu. Pedih telinga kalau ada orang panggil kucing kurap.

Hari ini, dia panggil kucing kurap. 20 tahun lagi kepala kita di bawah tapak kaki cucu Jeff Ooi. 60 tahun dulu diorang letak muncung senapang kat mulut datuk nenek kita.

        1. Helen,

Anwar ibrahim is the worst Malay politician whom I have ever met. His personal intimate matters now become a national problem.

          1. Sorry Shamshul, I just burst out laughing at your comment.
