Yahoo! News headline says “Botakkan Rosmah?”

Popular blogger Milo Suam had the following story slightly more than an hour ago — ‘Yahoo Malaysia cari pasal dengan Datin Rosmah‘.

Another top blogger Kedah Lanie followed-up on the same story a little more than half an hour ago — ‘Ayuhhh.. Jangan biarkan Datin Rosmah kita dihina oleh Yahoo..!

The Rosmah story was Yahoo! Malaysia’s most prominent article. Is this Yahoo! showing its “sense of humour“?

See the first screenshot above taken at 10.56pm. The second screenshot is taken just a couple of minutes ago at 11.30pm. Rosmah is still the top news.

See its ranking (1) i.e. first story out out 44 that I’ve circled in red.

None of the international aggregators, be it Yahoo!, Google or MSN, are BN friendly.

Almost all of Malaysia’s English language media in the peninsula are BN unfriendly.

The J-Star is BN hostile too. I wonder if the PMO is going to red dot the MCA-owned paper just like it red dots those bloggers who are critical of the First Couple?

  1. DSRM is made of better stuff than to be perturbed by yahoo or the likes of it. Dia tak senang ‘ melatah’ not like the evangelistas.

  2. Why the majorities are not BN friendly is a good point to start pondering.

Some people just refuse to accept the facts and enjoy living in denial.

    1. re: “Why the majorities are not BN friendly is a good point to start pondering.”

Because the Pakatan black propaganda is overwhelming and those people have no boundary that they will not cross, to the point that they can accuse certain VVIPs of personally supervising the blowing up of a woman in the dead of the night in some deserted area requiring stamina to climb.

  3. Betty Chew, a Christian, botak herself inside a temple, truly an act worthy of a first in Malaysian political annals, and now they expect Rosmah to do a similar stunt. These people are truly perpetually hysterical.

  4. I don’t understand why they must attack Rosmah. They made a video attacking her and when the NGOs retaliated, they are now fighting back against Rosmah. WTF! Pergilah marah kat NGO tu, ‘ngok betul. Ada ke NGO tu marah kat TKok, suruh pi lempang HY?

Manalah pergi Kesopanan & kesusilaan , Kedaulatan Undang-undang dan Keluhuran Perlembagaan? I suggest semua MP and DUN ni pi sekolah balik la. Kita semua tengok pun letih dan mual.

      1. :) :) :)

The continued attacks only serve to toughen us up in terms of resilience.

I don’t think those bloggers on the hit list are targetted purely on account of being critical of No.1 alone.

He has a wall of gatekeepers around him. Unlike the Tun, it doesn’t even look like DSTR personally glances at the Internet. I believe it is the advisers and consultants who are feeling the heat of increased public pressure on them.

What we bloggers are writing is only channeling what the disgruntled public feel. The general groundswell of discontent will catch up with PMO whether the pro-establishment bloggers write anything or not.

    1. Why pick on Rosmah ?

Any wonder the attack on Rosmah coming on the heels of teresa kok video and anwar case at appeal court ?

      Most likely an intended diversion.

  5. Helen,

As far as I know, Yahoo news and Google news use computer programs to determine ranking and/or position/placement of news articles. There is no human intervention – you should be able to easily confirm this with Yahoo or Google personnel given your vast network of friends and supporters.

I suspect that one criteria used for ranking would be the number of times an article was read and hence the Rosmah article will rank highly.

OTOH, it may be that the Yahoo news ranking program has developed awareness and has decided to be BN-unfriendly? :)

    Hope this helps.

I am also quite certain that your blog was NOT under a DOS attack as you thought.

If you had been under a DOS attack, nobody anywhere on the Internet would have been able to get to it – that’s the whole point of a DOS attack.

The fact that only the Bahasa Malaysian blogs were affected lead me to suspect it was due to changes made by WordPress, eg server maintenance/changes, load balancing, etc but again you may be able to find out more thru your vast network of friends and supporters.

Sorry but I should have mentioned it the last time we discussed the matter.

I do understand that paranioa is a necessary staple of a political writer/commentator :)

    1. APU,

As far as I know, “copytasting” (journo jargon) in Yahoo news and Google news is done by staff whom are from the local journalism fraternity.

e.g. Regina Lee used to work in The NST, then she moved to Malaysiakini and after that to The J-Star (as an example of mobility). What I’m saying is that the people now Yahoo, Google and MSN also come from the alternative media like Malaysiakini or TMI, etc.

re: “I suspect that one criteria used for ranking would be the number of times an article was read and hence the Rosmah article will rank highly.”

Editors choose what they want to highlight. I’ve seen the articles fall out of TMI chronologically (first in, first out) but manually pushed back up to the featured list. In the first place, has “Botakkan Rosmah?” got enough news value so much so that it deserves to be aggregated for a worldwide audience?

On Malaysiakini, if you take the Top 20 stories on the front page, you can easily see that they are ranked in terms of importance

re: “OTOH, it may be that the Yahoo news ranking program has developed awareness and has decided to be BN-unfriendly? :)

If the Yahoo! News items are selected by computer according to Most Read as you claim, there is no need for the company to hire any local editorial staff. They can just programme the computer to auto pick. And if the sampling is done on the basis of popular read, then Yahoo! News will be like Star Online where the sex, rape, murder and cheating stories are always the ones most read.

re: “I am also quite certain that your blog was NOT under a DOS attack as you thought. If you had been under a DOS attack, nobody anywhere on the Internet would have been able to get to it – that’s the whole point of a DOS attack.”

The attacks are periodic and cyclic. Local readers can still read my blog if they use a Proxy Server. So this indicates the attacks are mounted on locality. If you’re residing in a foreign country, I do not foresee a block.

re: “The fact that only the Bahasa Malaysian blogs were affected lead me to suspect it was due to changes made by WordPress”

This is where you are totally WRONG and showing us how you fail to read carefully.

The last time I brought this up, I pointed out that NONE of the other Top 50 WordPress blogs were affected because the majority of their content were religious, entertainment/lifestyle or general interest.

In fact the affected blogs are the pro-establishment blogs such as Syed Akbar Ali, Kadir Jasin, The Unspinners, Rocky … who have been critical of the PM/wife and the consultants and advisors surrounding the PM.

I’m still receiving sms-es from friends complaining that they cannot access. The last time you and I had a discussion, I’d pointed you to reader complaints published here saying that they cannot access. If you look even on this page itself, Orangkampung just commented thta she had great difficulty trying to leave her comment.

re: “I do understand that paranioa is a necessary staple of a political writer/commentator :)”

I do understand that putar-belit dan mengalih are necessary staples of a supporter of the opposition politics.

  6. Helen,

I wonder how many of these sick mofos have actually seen or heard Rosmah speak.

Yes, she’s far from perfect, but the truth is, she could actually put their cult heroes like Hannah Yeoh, T-Kok, Nurul, etc to shame. The PM’s wife is actually smart, educated and articulate.

If a debate were to be held, I can guarantee you, she’ll school and own the PR super girls to shame.

If these blind hypocrites could accept KJ for his education and articulateness, I’m sure they’d be gobsmacked if they know that Rosmah is as educated and articulate as the superboy, and would probably cry to death to find out that she’s better than all their cult heroines combined.

I’m not defending Rosmah, I’m merely stating facts. Unfortunately, the people around her and the PM are too busy to making themselves popular, powerful, and rich to even bother in countering all these incessant attacks.

    Oh well.

    1. Agree with you. They demonize Rosmah. She gets worse threats but she doesn’t whinge like Hannah Yeoh who made a big brouhaha when a false context was attributed to her quote, and to the extent that she later lodged a police report.

In Rosmah’s many, many years as wife of DPM, then PM, she has not wrong-footed in terms of what she publicly says and we can’t remember any foot-in-mouth statement attributed to her.

And despite all the vilest of personal attacks going her way, she has not verbally retaliated her critics, unlike the Pakatan pollies who ‘dive’ (football analogy) at the slightest missiles (which are actually well deserved).

Yup, the slanderers have never met nor spoken to Rosmah. On another note, neither have never ever met or spoken to me but they can concoct the most outrageous fabrications as if they are living in the same house with me (in order to be able to know).

That’s why I say “what kind of people are they?!”

      1. As they say, you can’t buy class.

No amount of blind adulation, position, money, and power could make someone act with class.

To Mdm Speaker and her likes, I ask: “Who’s the “low class” now”?

        1. I do not make any accusations against her.

The others make all kinds of accusations against her. He who asserts must prove.

      2. Helen,

It is actually quite simple. They are attacking Najib. and what better way than whacking his wife.

I heard so much of stories on Datin Rosmah. That she bought plane loads of goods while accompanying Najib to official trips.

I asked those who accused her how did they know about the tonnes of good allegedly bought by Rosmah. They often stumbled and replied that someone told them.

I told them off that they should verify the news that they heard.

        1. quote,” I told them off that they should verify the news that they heard.”unquote.

          Jahat depa, kan?

          :)

  7. saya bukan peminat rosmah.. sekurang kurang nyew rosmah lebih baik dr teresa dan hannah yg tak abis abis perlekeh/merendah rendahkan/membuli org yg tidak sependapat dgn mereka…

terlalu merugikan rakyat m’sia membayar gaji adun yg bodoh tidak mahu belajar pandai tidak boleh di ikot… maaf peribahasa saya sendiri… he he he…

  8. Why picked on Rosmah?…a proven soft target.

Any wonder the attack on Rosmah came on the heels of teresa kok video and cash abused scandal, plus anwar case at the appeal court?

Most probably an intended diversion from teresa/anwar to Rosmah.

  10. Sebelum ni saya tak berminat sangat nak ambil tahu pasal Datin Rosmah.

  11. Getting bald could vibrate a twitch for that li’l tiny thing in Guan Eng’s pants. So guys out there be warned.

Don’ t you think for Rosmah to have the Sinead O’Connor or Brazilian Ronaldo and Mawi baldy trend has long been dead?

Or the likes of that hillibillie hot FM DJ or even the Harian Metro clone article writer (sensationaling stupid petty issues) Mazidul who are still maintining that ugly look!

The thing is, these people still have hair on top their heads not like Bruce Willis. So why go Betty bald?!!!

    Or Me? Tor For?

  13. YAHOO MALAYSIA SHOULD BE INVESTIGATE….
Yahoo are NOT producing authentic report but merely rss feeding from unreliable msiakini the star and msiainsider.. This means Yahoo malaysia spreading lies to the whole world. Yahoo malaysia is DAP and opposition propaganda tool..?

    1. YAHOO MALAYSIA IS BEING INVADED BY DAPian..
Pro government dont read yahoo much. This is why YAHOO MALAYSIAN STAFF (or YAHOO DAPian inside) is using it to spread bad perception on internet but Umno’s cyber troopers never counter ATTACK YAHOO MALAYSIA THAT ANTI GOVERNMENT.
