The picture below is of the jetsetting Minister of Youth and Sports in Dublin a couple of days ago with the Umno Club, Ireland. From the leftovers of the spread, it looks like Khairy Jamaluddin had enjoyed a hearty Irish breakfast.
Meanwhile, below is a picture of a “scavenger” that has already gone out to hundreds of thousands of Twitter timelines.
The photo is allegedly snapped in Air Panas, Setapak. From the lighting, it looks like afternoon here in KL.

Dapster Khairy’s “awesome projects”
From Hannah Yeoh’s originating tweet, the above photo of the boy went out to some 90,000 Twitter timelines that comprise her loyal following.
It was furthermore retweeted by 273 of her adoring twits to generate a multiplier effect of, say – conservative estimate – another quarter million views just from Madame Speaker’s Twitter ‘downline’ (273 tweets x 1,000 followers each equals 273,000) alone.
For photo details on the boy, please read ‘Dapster Khairy’s Youth & Sports Ministry given RM754 million to spend‘
Yup, RM754 million does promise for an “awesome” year; I hope Regina Lee remembers to thank Ah Jib Gor

.
“So excited!”

I reckon it will go viral.
Whether the image of the slum dweller boy is authentic or not, it will nonetheless be believed – just like stories of the 40,000 Bangladeshi and ‘505 blackout’ – unless some high-ranked gomen official quickly comes out with a convincing denial or plausible deflection.
Logically the boy’s poverty-stricken situation would come under the aegis of “Urban Wellbeing”.
Public should scrutinize the Ministry budgets
As Twitterjaya has been gushingly informed earlier, Dapster Khairy’s Ministry – the KBS (Kementerian Belia dan Sukan) – is embarking on “SOMETHING PRETTY AWESOME PROJECTS“ this year.
Providing slippers to slum dwellers unfortunately is not among the KBS something pretty awesome projects. Not that the #syok sendiri, gila glamer Minister of Youth and Sports (winner of the Shout! Awards) will be looking into this, in any case. KJ has yet to return from London.
The plight of the mineral-water-bottle-slippered boy is instead more logically something up the alley of the Minister in charge of Urban Wellbeing.
The Ministry of Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government has a budget of close to four billion ringgit (RM3,914,584,400) for this year — see below.
Social Inclusion Act

It is a no brainer that the opposition will be going to town with this kid as their poster boy.
Such an image of urban poverty is in synch with the country’s need for a Social Inclusion initiative — and one that is being tabled now through a private member’s bill by the Parti Sosialis Malaysia MP, Dr D. Jeyakumar.
The Social Inclusion proposal was co-drafted by, among other civil society groups, the Saya Anak Bangsa Malaysia (SABM) which is the online source of the boy’s photos I’ve reproduced on this page.
Their concern for the welfare of the marginalized will cast a halo on Pakatan while at the same time putting the BN in a bad light as a bunch of London-holidaying Umno ministers who are uncaring about the welfare of poor, Tamil-speaking children.

I’m gonna say this again – where the hell is the MP for Setapak? Makan gaji buta, saja. Turun padanglah. Go help your constituents. Highlight it in parliament. Do a paper, usulkan cadangan. Takkan tunggu kerajaan and bila ada cadangan kerajaan, bangkang dan terus bangkang. Kerja MP is to work for your constituents, bukan duk airconditioned office, memboroikan perut, memberatkan teloq.
Kalau MP dia tahu buat kerja, kerajaan ada banyak saluran untuk membantu keluarga susah. I’m really tired of everything is the fault of Umno govt and Umno ministers. Next thing you know, Selangor kering kontang pun sebab Umno.
I’m no fan of KJ (understatement!) tapi blaming KJ for the plight of the Indians is not cool.

re: “I’m no fan of KJ (understatement!) tapi blaming KJ for the plight of the Indians is not cool.”
I’m clear in suggesting that one of Rahman Dahlan’s “urban wellbeing” officers check out the “slum”. I did not suggest that KJ’s officers ought to do so.
The reason KJ is in this article is as a comparison. His Ministry of Youth & Sports is given a RM754 million budget. Waytha asked for a RM750m budget to resolve various Indian pressing problems.
Indians are in dire straits. Whereas for sports programmes, nobody would die (starve) if Malaysia did not host the RM300 million Monsoon Cup for Mat Salleh yacht sailors introduced when KJ was a Fourth Floor boy.
The Special Unit was promised to Hindraf under the MoU. KJ has been the chief character assassin of Waytha Moorthy.
If you wanted to do a case study of how the most evil fitnah starts, well here is a classic case. The fitnah about Waytha wanting to “control all the money” (when his Special Unit budget was zero and staff zero) had its origins from KJ.
Where is Najib Razak’s sense of priority when drafting the 2014 Budget which was announced in Oct 2013?
Even KJ cannot compare with the Queen when it comes to fitnah.
Hannah Yeoh accused the poster of containing “fake quotes” to defame her. I wonder is she is going to make yet another police report.
Joseph Kurup has proposed that the kaum column in the birth cert be abolished.
The DAP’s Anglo and Christian crooks are silent on this. Silent ! Well, silence means that they too agree with Joseph Kurup’s proposal.
Slick, very slick indeed. Because once the kaum column is no more, it sets the stage to abolish the Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan.
No wonder the Hasnah Yeop hippies are so silent. With the BN doing this for them, Anak Malaysia will become a reality.
The Chinese know about this ? Do they even know the consequences of removing the kaum column from the birth cert ?
Even the health minister is receptive to this idea.
Start counting. Anak Malaysia is on the way.

DAP is not wasting time coming to the defense (of the despised klinga kia aka toddy drinkers aka p****h aka racist/communal Hind-draft).
All of a sudden, they understand Hindraf’s problems with BN so well.
They start with a sympathetic and pseudo-defensive overture:
DAP’s Serdang MP Ong Kian Ming today urged cabinet ministers Khairy Jamaluddin and Abdul Rahman Dahlan to stop defending Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak over the alleged non-implementation of the BN-Persatuan Hindraf Malaysia memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed last year before the general election.

To be fair, the Social Inclusion bill is being tabled by PSM’s Dr Jeya. All credit to PSM, their struggle is genuine. They even help foreign workers like their Myanmar.
Input to the bill was also contributed by civil society including SABM, Hakam etc.
One must remember that once Hindu Indian issues are of no relevance, the opposition will unleash their hacks to attack the Hindu Indians.
Waytha Moorthy is being unfairly attacked left, right and centre.
re: All credit to PSM, their struggle is genuine.
I concur. PSM is the only Malaysian political party with any integrity or credibility.
They should have nothing to do with Pakatan who has been treating them pretty much the same way BN has been treating Hindraf.
‘PSM is the only Malaysian political party with any integrity or credibility.’
Of course, its shouldn’t be a surprise would it???
And so is UMNO?
LMAO!
Khairy is not the only minister living a life of luxury from the spoils of his position as a member of parliament and leader of the Youth and Sports Ministry.
None of the other Ministers implied that Waytha Moorthy did not require a budget to operate. Only KJ did.
The antecedents of this kid is uncertain but the girls (apparently his foster sisters) in the other pictures are Indian, and possibly non-Muslim because their hair is uncovered. The article also says they are Tamil-speakers.
I confess that the facts of the whole situation are all rather unclear. Nonetheless due to language constraints, unless the relevant local or gomen authorities have Indian staff conversant in (assuming it to be) Tamil, and if any intervention is required then this is where Hindraf’s Special Unit could have played a role.
After all, Rahman Dahlan himself revealed that his Housing Ministry took up the Taman Permata flat dwellers issue in Dengkil after Waytha brought it up. So RD and W have worked together before.
Khairy did not say that Waythamoorthy does not need a budget or funds. He did claim that Waythamoorthy was trying to get all the funds meant for Indian social development parked under him. Two very different things.
While the other Ministers have not publicly criticised Waythamoorthy yet, that does not erase the fact that they too live a life of luxury while many of the disadvantaged go hungry.
Dapster Khairy was negating the need for Waytha to have any funds whereas all the other Ministries and Minister are given ample funding.
As for the other ministers, none of them can match Dapster Khairy’s record for being condemned “KJ rasuah, KJ rasuah, KJ rasuah!” by the Umno delegates themselves in PWTC and earning the ‘reputation’ – in the eyes of the then Opposition Leader in Parliament – of being the world’s richest unemployed 28-year-old.
I think the boy eating from the banana leaf was made to pose for the pic. Look at the position of the shadow from the roofing & his pose is certainly uncomfortable for someone enjoying his meal. This is pure drama!
It’s possible you’re more than right about the posing. Go to the original SABM site. There are about half a dozen photos. He’s wearing the same pair of shirt and shorts in all of the photos.
Also look at the photo where he’s squatting outside the hut. There appears to be a new Malaysian flag hung on the ramshackle building. What do you make of that?!
It is not difficult to hire someone to act out a scene like that provided you pay the person well.
If it is true that the whole scene was fabricated, this is one smear campaign.
Even so, the slum (shanty town) would still have to be there to provide the backdrop.
See another striking photo below from the same collection, said to have been exhibited at Dong Zong’s New Era College art/photo show. See the chains and its symbolism? This one is definitely posed!
Quick! We must deny the existence of pockets of poverty and shantytowns among the gleam and glamour of Kuala Lumpur. My goodness, we must not allow the westerners to read about this on the internet! It will be bad for tourism and the My Malaysia Second Home program!
“Also look at the photo where he’s squatting outside the hut. There appears to be a new Malaysian flag hung on the ramshackle building. What do you make of that?!”
The flag is too far in the background to determine if it is new. It could have been scavenged from one of the numerous flags hung from the lamp posts or from last year’s elections.
Your petty comment is spoken like a true Dapster, Acik-Ducik.
Prove that it is a new flag as you claim.
We had one reader who alleged that the photo was taken in India, and later Africa. This has been disproved. It was in good old Kuala Lumpur, near Setapak.
It’s best for the authorities to get to the bottom of this (his identity) because Pakatan has politicized the kid as their poster boy for the Social Inclusion bill.
Since the ris being taken to Parliament, then the boy is already a political football.
The boy has been found.

Either Hannah Yeoh/Chia Hong or the local Indian guy is the liar. Surely not all Indians are liars.
That blogger also claimed that Waythamoorthy demanded billions of ringgit to be placed under his control, gave Nor Mohamed Yackop a run-around, refused to cooperate with other government leaders or officials, and spent a luxury on office renovations.
So instead of rebutting his claims on Waytha, you chose to say what exactly?
Learn from Helen, she’s smart enough not to do so!
what has KJ got to do in addressing the plight of the Indian-looking boy in the picture? The boy could be one of the Rohingya efugees from Burma. Rahman Dahalan should be the one taking care of things.
And to blame teh MP for Setapak? …unfortunately in Malaysia, assistance, if it eventually comes, goes to the Barisan MP’s constituency.
sri hartamas,
I’m not sure what’s the context of your comment. But my article does suggest that Rahman Dahlan’s officer(s) should quickly look into this. I did not suggest that Regina Lee should dirty her pretty heels to tramp into urban slums.
As for KJ, you’re right. He would have nothing to do (no interest) in addressing the plight of the Indian-looking boy.
But do please recall that he accused Waytha Moorthy of not being “a team player” as well as lecturing about “collective cabinet responsibility”.
‘But do please recall that he accused Waytha Moorthy of not being “a team player” as well as lecturing about “collective cabinet responsibility”.’
And forever be damned?!
Helen, although I personally kind of suka your expose on KJ, but its just too excessive and off the mark as far as related issues are concern.
Don’t you think?
No, it is KJ who has been excessive. He keluarkan at least a dozen tweets. His behaviour is like a top echelon Dapster.
Ya, it is your blog to begin with…
Daa. Do you even have to name it Helen Ang’s blog to claim it as your own???
re:” Do you even have to name it Helen Ang’s blog to claim it as your own???”
:D Might as well.
