Below is Najib Razak’s Twitter profile. It says he has 1,910,000 followers or 1.9 million.
I ran a check on ” @NajibRazak ” through three separate Follower authentication programmes.
The first one, Twitter Audit, found that more than half a million (528,869) of Najib’s followers are fake. His audit score is Fail with 35 points only (red marks).
See result screenshot below — http://www.twitteraudit.com/NajibRazak
The second one, Fake Followers, found that 41% of Najib’s followers are “suspicious or empty” accounts while a further 21% are “inactive”. According to Fake Followers, only 38% of Najib’s Twitter following is “good”.
See result screenshot below — http://www.socialbakers.com/twitter/fakefollowercheck/result/NajibRazak
The third one, Status People, found that 47% of Najib’s followers are fake while a further 36% are “inactive”. According to Status People, only 17% of Najib’s Twitter following is “good”.

Najib losing the Malay ground
Did Najib’s RM7.2 billion consultancy panels and advisors tell him that he REALLY has 1.9 million Twitter followers? And does Najib actually believe them?
No wonder the Umno grassroots are beginning to revolt. This sixth Malaysian Prime Minister is the country’s PM that is the most divorced from the ground.
He is insulated, he is detached and he has the problem of selective hearing. In short, he is clueless about the people’s sentiments.
PM that doesn’t listen to the people who voted his party
Now why do I bring up this matter of whether the Prime Minister is genuinely communicating or not with real rakyat?
Well, it’s because of the following important article in The J-Star today. It is headlined ‘We need to hear you, PM tells silent majority‘.
Oh how nice.
Dapsters perpetually angry and annoyed with Najib
Najib Razak says he wants to hear from us — the silent majority. He doesn’t seem to be getting adequate feedback from his social media (Twitter).
Nonetheless, there is always the feedback boxes at the bottom of the Star Online page where the message by Najib, ‘We need to hear you, PM tells silent majority’, is featured. (See bottom of this page for full Star article screenshot; screenshots taken at 7.37pm.)
Their online feedback says 67 percent of The J-Star readers are “Angry” with Najib’s plea that they should talk to him. A further 33 percent are “Annoyed”.
None of The J-Star readers are “Inspired” or feel “Happy” that the PM seems to be all ears to their feedback.
The J-Star readers (and many editors too) are pro-DAP
A related article in The J-Star today is titled ‘Najib: My decisions based on long-term interests‘. (See bottom of this page for full Star article screenshot; screenshots taken at 7.45pm.)
Responding to Najib’s claim that he is “prepared to put the nation’s long-term interests before [his] own short-term popularity”, The J-Star readers in general merely scoffed.
Their online feedback says 50 percent of The J-Star readers are “Annoyed” with Najib’s statement above, 30 percent are “Angry” and 20 percent are “Amused”.
None of The J-Star readers are “Inspired” or feel “Happy” nor “Sad” either that the PM is willing to sacrifice his personal popularity for the sake of the country.
What the The J-Star feedback above – which comprise mostly Chinese readers and DAP supporters (even though the paper is owned by the MCA) along with some Indian middle-class and liberal Malay urban readership – indicates is an intense hostility for Najib. You can see for yourself from their contemptuous responses.
Some hardcore opposition supporters go to the extent of blaming Umno for everything and unreasonably blaming Najib over the disappearance of the Beijing-bound MAS plane. They want him to be with the search crew flying over the ocean rather than giving a press conference. He can do nothing right in their eyes.
And yet Najib “masih lagi terhegeh-hegeh mahu menagih undi orang Kristian semenanjung dan orang Cina” — to paraphrase my regular commenter Shamshul Anuar.
Loyalty, service and abata count for nought
I’m flabbergasted that Najib could bring himself to say that he wants to hear from “the silent majority”.
In truth, the very people who supported the BN, the very people who are now fighting in the trenches so that BN will be able to stay put in Putrajaya, are the last ones to be able to get the PM’s ear. Hence so many Umno Malays are disappointed in him.
Najib Razak prefers to listen to his exorbitantly paid consultants. He prefers to listen to his fat cat advisors. He listens to the bishops, to the pastors but he does not bother to listen to the folks who pangkah simbol Dacing setiap kali pilihanraya.
He neglects BN supporters and rewards instead the people who are helping Pakatan take over Putrajaya. He even prefers to let Dapsters sit in his Umno Minister’s office.

Azhar,
Pendek kata, the Prime Minister has subcontracted his thinking to them.
Our first four PMs all used their own God-given brains. The 5th PM, since he prefers to sleep, outsourced his thinking to the Son-in-Law and the Fourth Floor Boys.
The current PM has contracted out his thinking to a RM7.2b racket.
Hmmm otak ahjib mungkin bernilai tinggi sbb tak pernah diguna, itupun jika otaknya ada….
This further reinforces the old classic rumor that he had to resit the MCE exam back then! :)
Thought he was in English boarding school? Malvern Boys’ College in Worcestershire, England
Okay too caught up in the MH370 mystery until now. But finally decided to take a break and see what you are up to. Woaaah, lady! Don’t you ever take a break?
I’ve been doing the Malay thing with the PM so far … you know tppa? Give him benefit of the doubt? Space? Rope?
But his discharge of duties on the MH370 mystery was disappointing, to say the least. I caught on TV3 and Awani that he will hold a PC at 4 pm. Time passed and no news. Finally held his PC flanked by Muhyiddin and HH and baby-face from MCA at almost 7pm.
Where were his consultants? Couldn’t someone have told him to appear on air if even from his office or wherever 10 minutes after the MAS 1st PC or earlier and just give assurance? I don’t think the family wants to know the how, what and why today. But I’m sure they wanted to hear the PM telling them everything possible is being done to find the plane and everyone aboard. It should have been done at the earliest, not >12 hours after the event.
re: “Okay too caught up in the MH370 mystery until now. But finally decided to take a break and see what you are up to.”
Am I the only one not caught up with MH370? It must be due to my numbers crunching and data predilection. I prefer the concrete stuff rather than the mystery of speculation.
re: “Woaaah, lady! Don’t you ever take a break?”
I’m more Chinese than you realise. Was busy washing bottles/containers and storing water today, too. My area affected by Phase 3 rationing. Thus am having to do as much laundry as I can before the water supply is cut.
re: “I’ve been doing the Malay thing with the PM so far … you know tppa? Give him benefit of the doubt? Space? Rope?”
There is no luxury of time nor space to space. It is with utmost urgency that he takes action, e.g. in handling the fallout from the Anwar verdict.
re: “But his discharge of duties on the MH370 mystery was disappointing, to say the least. I caught on TV3 and Awani that he will hold a PC at 4 pm. Time passed and no news.”
His full press conference is on the Net. I’ll put up link.
re: “Finally held his PC flanked by Muhyiddin and HH and baby-face from MCA at almost 7pm.”
MCA Baby Face is the Transport Minister in waiting.
re: “Where were his consultants?”
Horror of horrors, the man actually BELIEVESwhat his consultants tell him (like the size of his Twitter following).
re: “Couldn’t someone have told him to appear on air if even from his office or wherever 10 minutes after the MAS 1st PC or earlier and just give assurance?”
He listens to the wrong people whose humongous paycheques and bonuses depend on telling him what he wants to hear.
Very soon the Malays will be prepared to throw out the baby with the bath water. Bye-bye Najib, bye-bye Umno. It is only those of us who fear DAP evangelistas coming into power who seem to be cutting Najib some slack.
Madame Speaker is very popular. Are her numbers rigged too?
No idea. But @hannahyeoh has been a steady build-up whereas NajibRazak’s numbers – close to two million Followers – are too phenomenal.
His consultants have lulled him into a false sense of security with the fake Twitter and Facebook numbers, same as those “I love PM” placards and the Mega (free) Dinners attended by tens of thousands of Chinese.
Very little of these translated into voter head count.
They planted the seed here:-
The seed has blossomed, overgrown:-
I am afraid racial and religious conflicts will be beyond control.
You should double check with the NOC/Mageran White Paper whether the words quoted in the poster are authentic.
That should be the case for me. Unfortunately “authentic” is not in the vocabulary of those “in ever denial syndrome” hypocrites.
Remember Chinadoll video. Lagi ada witness (his own buddy) and jam omega, the Korean and American experts. The hypocrites still chose to discard the 99% authenticity.
The White Paper can be found online. Just that it’s 1am and I’m too tired to look and do the checking.
The area where I live will be put on water rationing Phase 3 and there is quite a bit to do filling up bottles, pails etc.
S’gor obtained a lot of Pakatan votes.
I’m very grumpy about this water rationing inconvenience but the Pakatoons appeared to ‘bite the bullet’. Since it’s their precious, beloved gomen they elected, they’re not complaining just like they quietly bear with the sub-standard rubbish collection and disposal.
Hi, Helen. My area is also put on water rationing for Phase 3. For us Muslims, it is very inconvenient when there is water rationing as it is difficult to care for personal hygiene, house cleanliness, etc. I am grumpy too, but amazingly, none of my friends who are PR supporters complain about this in FB. They poke fun over the kangkung issue, but something as critical as water supply, is not even raised at all. It’s really funny la. I am not surprised that they will say that our country is afflicted by drought because of the sins committed by BN, especially UMNO.
For me, PR leaders are one of the worst administrators – only know how to fingerpoint others, blame others, calling other people names and what not, and yet lack foresight and skills on governing a state. Even if MB Khalid didn’t agree with the Federal government last time regarding Langat 2, why couldn’t he come up with an alternative contingency plan in case of droughts?
I don’t mind if the Opposition wants to criticize projects proposed by the government (they are supposed to maintain check and balance, after all), but what’s their strategic and contingency plans to govern the state? Instead, we have silly politicians who spends their whole time politicking such as Teresa Kok with her idiotic political satire and Hannah Yeoh tweeting here and there on the wickedness of BN MPs. They are far from calibre politicians such as Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye, who spends his time working and not talking.
Urgh… I am so disgusted to the core.
re: “I am not surprised that they will say that our country is afflicted by drought because of the sins committed by BN, especially UMNO.”
If they say that, then you must remind them that there are 14 states in Malaysia and the water rationing is affecting Selangor — the state by ruled Pakatan with a DAP Speaker.
Helen,
That is what upsets the Malays. Najib may not realise that the malays see him as “putting down” the malays.
Had not for Malay votes, he would have already lost his post as PM. Had not for dilligence of wanita UMNO “,makcik makcik”, many seats would have been lost.
Those who vote UMNO in have no trust to Marina Mahathir, wardina, Mujahid. yet Najib appointed them into a consultative body that churns suggestions that make Malay upsets. The most recent being suggestion to abolish “race” column in official document.
Malays rightly ask why the concern on race column when Malaysia can tolerate separate school system that no other countries tolerate.
And Najib still can joke and laugh with Guan Eng who as far as anyone can think off has never said anything good about Najib, UMNO or Malays.
Najib is oblivious on Regina being Khairi’s political secretary. And Najib accepts Nazri aziz’s son in the ministry. it will become precedent.
With Najib’s preference towards anyone waging war and want him dead, UMNO does not need external enemy. The enemy is within.
re: “Najib may not realise that the Malays see him as ‘putting down’ the Malays”.
You’re right, he doesn’t. Sebaliknya beliau menatang pembangkang Kristian bak dulang minyak yang penuh. Not only does he put down the Malays, he elevates their enemies, just like how CIMB is a big advertiser in Malaysiakini, The Malaysian Insider and The J-Star.
re: “Had not for Malay votes, he would have already lost his post as PM.”
Don’t worry he will if he keeps on the present trajectory. In fact, I wouldn’t be altogether too surprised if Najib is ejected by his own Umno hardliners first.
re: “Had not for dilligence of wanita UMNO “, makcik makcik”, many seats would have been lost.”
Najib is under the illusion that the Christians in Bangsar voted BN.
re: “Those who vote UMNO in have no trust to Marina Mahathir, wardina, Mujahid. Yet Najib appointed them into a consultative body that churns suggestions that make Malay upsets.”
Don’t forget that he appointed J-Star CEO Wong Chun Wai as the trustee of his Global Movement of Moderates.
Re. You’re right, he doesn’t. Sebaliknya beliau menatang pembangkang Kristian bak dulang minyak yang penuh.
We have talked about this before. What do you expect him to do? Shoot his mouth off or brandishing a machine gun towards them?
He is a cool, calm and collected guy, but his people and machinery will do the dirty job for him. Why do you think that suddenly there are strings of vocal Muslim Malay NGOs coming out in the open? And of course he would say that this bad, but did he do anything about it? Just study the pattern through all of the issues and you will the same over and over again.
Re. Not only does he put down the Malays,
No he doesn’t. Just because he doesn’t praise verbally, that doesn’t mean he neglects them. Many of the Malays are ungrateful lots, they have benefited through and through from the government policy yet they are still complaining. They were not happy during Tun M’s tenure, Tun Dol’s Tenure (this one I agree) and now Najib. I had this debate with Rina not long ago in another entry and many others in other blogs.
In fact just two weeks ago, I had argument with “pisang goreng” seller who was not only not thankful and grateful with the RM600 BR1M he received plus the RM270 monthly rental for 2-Bedroom ( or 3-Bedroom) of DBKL flat being rented to him, right in Jalan Hang Tuah. but also has the gall to criticizing and blaming the GOMEN for not giving the BR1M on monthly basis. That doesn’t include DBKL keeping the blind eye over his illegal stall.
Yesterday the GOMEN announced the following:
20 perniagaan layak terima geran RM5,000 program 1AZAM

Who do you think that are going to benefit from this? The Malay, Chinese or Indian?
Next year they are going to increase the BR1M to RM1000 for certain group? Where do you think the money will come from? GST is one of them. And who pay for that?
The Bangsarian, and most Chinese don’t need BR1M hence they don’t vote the GOMEN, but they will part of the people who pay for it. They don’t need the GOMEN, but the GOMEN knows how to make use of them for the benefits of the poor.
Re. he elevates their enemies, just like how CIMB is a big advertiser in Malaysiakini, The Malaysian Insider and The J-Star.
Please learn to separate Politics from Business. Business people, despite their political inclination will cast their net i.e. A&P where the money is. I am doing a project now and we know what we want and who are our target market. But when it comes to helping the people that matter, that is where the money will go.
re: “Who do you think that are going to benefit from this? The Malay, Chinese or Indian?”
Like the example you gave lah. The pisang goreng seller who after getting BR1M, plus getting to rent a DBKL flat dirt cheap, still can’t stop criticizing and blaming the gomen. So even after Najib quietly does all this to benefit the Malays, they still vote PKR, PAS and even DAP.
re: “Please learn to separate Politics from Business.”
The government is the biggest shareholder in many GLCs.
If these GLCs prefer advertizing in oppo media, and they disdain as well as shun Utusan, then the effect is that our partially (if not majority owned) businesses are putting their money into enterprises whose main objective is to topple the BN government.
So the upshot is that the government is indirectly funding the forces hell-bent on the BN’s own destruction.
Re. If these GLCs prefer advertizing in oppo media, and they disdain as well as shun Utusan
Not all GLCs, but some do that due to the CEO and even directors are pro Pakatan. For instance, one of the Lynas directors, is a nuclear scientist who is a PAS MP (or used to be). Another acquaintance who is a VP at TNB is a strong PAS supporter. Certain things are beyond control, especially when the Corporate Communication/PR Director who normally handles issues wrt to A&P are mostly pro Pakatan. These are the Bangsarian.
Re. whose main objective is to topple the BN government.
Frankly speaking they have been doing that since FOREVER, even during Tun M’s tenure. It is not a new thing. Najib has a bigger challenge than that of Tun M’s, since during his tenure the social media is booming like no body business.
Sebenar-benarnya dah bosan nak bercakap pasal Najib, ‘let Najib sing’s with his song’ like Anuar, his songs will have the ending time, may we all especially the Malay pro establishment and grass roots UMNO supporters have that patient.
“I love PM” … orang yang sayang PM wajib tegur PM. Tegur kerana sayang ,)
Helen,
Let me tell you this, the minute he even criticizes the DAP Chinese and Chinese in general in one negative tone, it will sent a signal to the anti-Chinese sentiment that is currently lurking but certainly brewing to explode as a blessing. That will be the point of no return. This is what he is trying to avoid, for at the current stage it will only takes a spark to make it happens:

The figure was prep up by his consultants to make our ‘down syndrome’ faced PM Ahjibgor feels well liked and popular thus keeping his consultants longer on the payroll.
BR1M ada 7 millions subscribers.
BR1M are supposed to be poor people.
Twitter is a middle-class past-time.
If he relies on Twitter for feedback, then Malaysia is in serious trouble. But then again I doubt he’s into twitter that much.
What I m worried about are the people around him, those con artists masquerading as consultants, experts etc. Those are dangerous people. They are giving him wrong advice, and wrong advice are very expensive.
Well I only have PM Najib and Miley Cyrus on my twitter – and the first time I heard about Gangnam style was from PM Najib twitter – he said about he heard a lot of people talking about Gangnam style – and he was asking his followers what they think about it. So I went and search about Gangnam only to learn that I was so outdated. Ha!
Unlike Pak Lah, PM Najib is quite well equipped with Internet tools such as Twitter, FB and Blog and etc. I think the consultants are doing pretty good job.
And our economy is still doing good – that is based on the “experts” opinions I heard on TV3 recently – just last week I think after that economic seminar.
Rationalizing Subsidies, BR1M, Kedai Rakyat 1M, Klinik Rakyat 1M, etc. To me, looks like everything in good track.
Where is the wrong advice?
We need new ideas to drive the country, we need to speed up.
If rationalizing subsidies is the wrong advice, then sadly this country has wrong kind of rakyat.
re: “PM Najib is quite well equipped with Internet tools such as Twitter, FB and Blog and etc. I think the consultants are doing pretty good job.”
A valid point that he has the hardware. But the software is shoddy; soulless, in fact. You don’t get the sense that the occupant is in there.
Compare Dr M’s use of new media. The entries in his blog are all written by he himself. The articles express his own thoughts and his take on current affairs. And although Dm M would naturally have blog admins in his employ but still, he personally reads his reader comments.
One time, I saw that Dr M used the label “PAP Trojan horse” on the DAP. I’m pretty sure he got that phrase from his reader, who is the same Uncle AK47 who writes the same Singapore-obsessive comments in my blog too.
re: “Where is the wrong advice?”
Pulling out the subsidies all at one go and precipitating inflation, and then giving the BR1M and saying that recipients went to Sogo to do their shopping.
Helen, Dr M does not have to take care of the economy anymore. Its PM Najib responsibility now to make sure our economy is well and so is our country safety and our water supply.
I don’t want a Prime Minister who spend hours reading on twitter and Facebook and writing blogs. I want him to sit quietly in his office and read those official reports and come out with the best strategies.
“Pulling out the subsidies all at one go” = harga barang-barang keperluan naik.
ok – Matematik for peniaga-peniaga di Malaysia.
Kurangkan subsidi minyak 1 kali = harga barang naik 1 kali.
Kurangkan subsidi minyak 10 kali = hanga barang naik 10 kali.
Make sense to me.
Did he have to pull out the petrol, sugar, electricity and toll-(announcement) ALL at around the same time?
As for Najib, no, I do not expect him to tweet 24/7 like Madame Speaker. Even Dr M has blog and Facebook moderators, but Dr M is in charge even though he has people to do the operational work.
Najib, on the other hand, actually believes that he has 2 million Twitter followers. The phantom followers whould be thrown out (much like the cleaning up of the electoral roll. All of the authentication programmes give him a ‘Fail’.
And the individual who handles the PM’s Facebook made him [Najib] appear to be saying that the rakyat are taking the subsidy cuts well. That was a mindless statement without waiting for any actual survey. Some of the critical Malay blogs made an issue of this gaffe.
Hi again Helen,
Sorry for delay in reply.
Re: “Did he have to pull out the petrol, sugar, electricity and toll-(announcement) ALL at around the same time?”
– Yes, I agree with this step – well give it all one shot and so the perniaga can raise their not rational price at once shot – big one – people can’t afford it, people don’t buy. Dr M will write on his blog about how the peniaga are not rational.
I believe some of the rakyat will learn to rationalize their own budget too.
Re: “Najib, on the other hand, actually believes that he has 2 million Twitter followers.”
– How do you know this for sure?
Re: “And the individual who handles the PM’s Facebook made him [Najib] appear to be saying that the rakyat are taking the subsidy cuts well”
– Yup, I think they are, despite their mouth complains, we still have to queue to eat Shushi king ( check out the plates they left on the table after they eat) and I also find it unbelievable that we also have to queue to buy that Pandora bracelets and oh that tudung Fareeda in Bangi. Check out those area in Pavi and KLCC. What about the sales of Iphone and Samsung? How hard it is to find parking at the Mines Shopping center in the weekend. So what kind of survey do we need?
PS: Oh too bad I don’t have reason to go to Sogo to check on that area of Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman.
(1) All at one shot is too big a blow.
(2) ‘Najib has most ‘fake’ Twitter followers, analysis finds’ http://my.news.yahoo.com/najib-most-fake-twitter-followers-analysis-finds-075014934.html
The same news was already reported last May. In the intervening one year, he has not cleaned up the phantoms on his Twitter role despite the embarrassing expose made that “Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak heads a list of world leaders said to have the largest proportion of ‘fake’ Twitter followers”.
(3) I know people who can’t even afford two pieces of KFC. And then again, the examples you cite – Pavilion, KLCC, iPhone – are a giveaway to your social milieu.
You forget that there are 7 million Malaysian households who qualify for BR1M. Najib says they shopped at Sogo (which is not quite Pavilion or KLCC), and I doubt that they would be splurging on Sushi.
Your ‘survey’ of Sushi King, Pavilion, KLCC are not at all representative of the many millions of households who are poor.
According to EPU, a total of 41.5 percent of Malaysian households earn less than RM3,000 monthly. This is year 2012 data. Source, http://www.epu.gov.my/documents/10124/c9352eab-28fe-4b0f-9fc1-8a70c18b0cd9
Re: Your ‘survey’ of Sushi King, Pavilion, KLCC are not at all representative of the many millions of households who are poor.
– But isn’t this the feedback for the middle class you were questioning about ?
– We have BR1M data records, and subsidies rationalization is on the way – I’ll give it time to develop.
– For another reason, I don’t really bother with that fake twitter accounts. If PM Najib decided its to stay that way, maybe he has reason – as the news is out and loud.
RE: “Your ‘survey’ of Sushi King, Pavilion, KLCC are not at all representative of the many millions of households who are poor.” / “- But isn’t this the feedback for the middle class you were questioning about?”
You volunteered this info.
I had said that taking away the petrol subsidy and sugar subsidy and hiking the electricity tariff all at one go will together constitute a body blow.
Of course it is the poorer segment of society who will feel the pinch the most.
(1) All at one shot is too big a blow.
– Because half of his twitter followers are fake – maybe this spread the message on subsidies rationalize plan faster and louder. – :D just kidding.
“You volunteered this info.”
– Yes the truth is I don’t really know – I just speculating based on what I see.
I’m off to sleep. Good night Helen.
Thanks for your time reading my writing.
re: ” Dr M does not have to take care of the economy anymore.”
I do not believe Najib should be doubling up and holding the Finance portfolio too. He is stretching himself too thin.
Isn’t being PM a heavy enough responsibility?
I think its okay – it should be this way so our PM will not be miss leading by the finance minister if the portfolio is by different person (just in case – well something happened before right that is why it is this way now).
Re: Isn’t being PM a heavy enough responsibility?
Yes – lets help him.
re: “Re: Isn’t being PM a heavy enough responsibility?” / “Yes – lets help him.”
:D Okay, this bit I can agree.
Re. ok – Matematik for peniaga-peniaga di Malaysia.
This is not a new phenomenon, it has been going for a long time and not just with the reduction of subsidy. It used to be when the GOMEN announced salary increment for civil servant, arrears and bonuses. This is not just unique to Malaysia but it also happens in other countries.
Re.
There are 22 essential items which are currently under price controlled and they have been patrolling the unscrupulous price increase activities 24-7 since, the problem is they can’t be everywhere at the same time, unless consumers filing complaints or making report to KPDNK.
Most suppliers are conniving business people, most of the time they would purposely cut supply just to increase the price. In the past we have seen Sugar and Cooking Oil in short supply on frequent basis. Once the Gomen stopped the monopoly from certain people, you hardly heard any such news.
If you follow the issue closely, now the GOMEN is encouraging the Malay businesses to start building and improving their supply chain. Somewhere in Bukit Jelutong, the GOMEN has set up Malaysian Institute of Supply Chain in collaboration with Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Meantime the GOMEN is still having problem with fresh fish supply, as most fish and seafood products are imported from oversea. The problem arises when the GOMEN subsidizes diesel to deep-sea fishermen with big fishing boat and modern fishing equipment (who are mostly Chinese) with the term and condition that they are to sell the fresh produce at ceiling price as agreed by the Gomen. What happens instead, these ungrateful fishermen sell their produce to other countries e.g. Singapore, Hong Kong which fetches higher prices and only brought back the low quality fresh produce which can be caught by “Nelayan Pantai”. It was a big hoo hah in Perak few years back when Gomen decided to pull back the subsidy. The involved fishermen denied it and they engaged DAP to fight for them. One thing they didn’t realize is that the Gomen had sent out the spy to investigate what actually happen.
Re. Pulling out the subsidies all at one go and precipitating inflation,
It has to be done fast and all at once, so that the after effect will be dealt with at one go with ample time to heal. They have been postponing it for far too long. Doing it gradually, will prolong and build up the pain and this is not good coming PRU14. The saving will be ploughed back gradually as and when required.
Don’t be surprise if they even reduce the petrol price if needed coming PRU14, for the saving has been clawed back for that purposed, in banking industry this is called a sinking funds.
Re. and then giving the BR1M and saying that recipients went to Sogo to do their shopping.
This is very true, the recipients are mostly spendthrift, the weekend they received the money all roads to Bukit Bintang and Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman were clogged with traffics. It makes you wonder whether they actually need the money to ease their burden. RM600 can buy them 210.53 Kg sugar, supplement their monthly petrol cost at certain percentage, top up the increase in school bus fares etc. etc.
My “roti canai” seller friend who only went to school up to standard 6 due to poverty in the 80’s, is a smart guy. He allocates all the BR1M money for his children school needs. He was even in awe that people actually spend that money to go shopping.
When Dato Idris Jala was heading MAS, he sacked 3,000 staff and only to rehire 3,000 newbies of mostly Chinese. The result had been disastrous and many left upon realising they are unable to meet the mark. Those remained rose to Manager rank and contribute to hold back MAS’s turnaround.
Xynal,
Seriously? Are you saying idris sacked 3000 staffs? This is new to me. I am very surprise.
They were not sacked but were given VSS. Most of them were either a redundant or non-performer to the core, which is understandable and due to the bureaucratic organization business model inherited from a government agency; the same case and scenario which had plagued the former Bank Bumiputera Berhad. At one time long time ago, a friend who was a staff in MAS Finance and Accounting department, told me that the department was so big with too many staff, even the bosses wouldn’t know whether any of them was in or not in any day.
Despite many criticism from various party, Idris Jala did some significant changes with great success. You can read it here:

Having said that, time has certainly changed where in the current economic scenario most premier airlines companies in the world are barely surviving year after year, where they reported major losses e.g. Qantas, British Airways, United Airlines, Air France, KLM, Thai Airways and NOT EVEN Singapore Airlines. The reason being, high operating cost, high fuel cost and competition from various low cost airlines. In MAS case, it is even more unique where it has to subsidize the cost for domestic flight for without it the flight ticket will be even higher, this is especially true for domestic routes in Sabah and Serawak.
Re. he sacked 3,000 staff and only to rehire 3,000 newbies of mostly Chinese.
This is truly funny, as he thought that the Chinese are smarter. A similar case happened in one local bank, where the CEO hired a group of Chinese from one foreign bank to start a new line of business, after 6 or 7 years and many millions ringgit spent nothing is done and ended up the head (of course the Chinese) was asked to leave.

Tun Mahathir pun baru-baru ini sahaja mengingatkan: ““Failure to understand public sentiments would be disastrous for politicians. Self-delusion is even worse.”
We are all the product of Dr. M .. and aren’t we the Malaysians
politically disastrous?
