(1) A woman’s wedding day is the happiest day of her life.
Imagine if police gatecrashed the wedding of your daughter, and escorted the bride away in the middle of her akad nikah to be questioned by the religious authorities.
(2) Remember the era of Amanat Hadi Awang where the Malays kafir-mengkafir dan sembahyang dua imam? So what we have … in retelling this throwback story … is dua puak yang saling bermusuhan.
Just sayin’
Now imagine that the mosque which invited the DAP evangelista Yang Berhormat as its VIP guest is a PAS mosque. And also let’s just imagine that the local religious bureau is controlled by an Umno man yang berdendam dengan PAS turun-temurun sejak zaman bapa atuknya lagi.
Now what if this ‘Umno’ (hypothetical scenario only, okay, don’t get mad) religious official had sent his officers, accompanied by the police, to raid the PAS mosque for its “crime”/”sin” of having YB Teo Nie Ching there in her body-hugging T-shirt yang tak tutup aurat itu?
Wouldn’t the qariah complain that the enforcement team descending on the mosque is unjustified in breaching polite etiquette?
Sensitivity to places of worship
I’m sure Muslims would be offended and hurt too if a group of men, accompanied by police, who all belong to another religion were to trespass their mosque or surau to conduct a raid.
The lady at the centre of the ‘Jais tahan pengantin‘ news story is an Indian bride (below) whose wedding ceremony held in a Hindu temple was raided by the state Islamic department.
She was taken from the Hindu temple in Petaling Jaya to the Jais office in Shah Alam to be interrogated. Ref. Sinar Harian reports below.
As you can see from the next photo, the wedding guests are Indian.
Therefore it is puzzling to hear that
“Jais masih menjalankan siasatan kes di bawah Seksyen 10, upacara yang menyebabkan murtad”, as well as
“Kes disiasat mengikut Enakmen Agama Bukan Islam (Kawalan Pengembangan di Kalangan Orang Islam) 1988, di bawah Seksyen 4 kesalahan memujuk, mempengaruhi, atau menghasut orang beragama Islam supaya mengubah keimanan”.
Question: Has this woman ever been a Muslim in the first place?
Indian children converted unilaterally by father
As you might be aware, there has cropped up several cases of involuntary conversions and child custody battles/kidnapping:
- S. Deepa (the mother) vs N. Viran aka Izwan Viran Abdullah
- M. Indira Gandhi (the mother) vs K. Pathmanathan aka Mohd Rizduan Abdullah
- R. Subashini (the mother) vs T. Saravanan aka Muhammad Shafi Saravanan Abdullah
- S. Shamala (the mother) vs M. Jeyaganesh aka Muhammad Ridzwan Abdullah
The estranged husbands had converted to Islam as well as converted their children too without the Hindu mothers’ knowledge or consent.
Are the children of Deepa, Indira Gandhi, Subashini and Shamala ‘real’ Muslims? Will they be considered Muslims when they grow up?
The complicated case of Ms B
As to yesterday’s controversy, the bride (we’ll call her Ms B) was apparently converted to Islam as a child. Her father, however, abandoned Ms B and her siblings when she was young.
The circumstances of her conversion were suspect; there are two conflicting versions to the claims. It remains uncertain and disputed as to ‘who’ converted her. Ms B herself says that she was unaware of her status – on paper – as a Muslim and was shocked when she discovered that she had been registered as one.
Her IC has the ‘Islam’ status automatically inserted.
According to Ms B, she is a practicing Hindu and she has always lived her life as a Hindu. She vows she will die a Hindu. And she adds that she has never observed Islam.
She has tried twice to get the National Registration Department to remove the ‘Islam’ label from her IC but without success. She was told to go to the Syariah Court to obtain leave from Islam.
Nonetheless because Ms B does not recognize herself as a Muslim, then logically as a non-Muslim she does not fall under the jurisdiction of the Islamic court.
Was Jais lacking in wisdom?
Ms B is an I-N-D-I-A-N, unlike Ramachandran Muniandy aka Mr Hannah Yeoh who is not actually Indian and whose Tamil is “non-functioning”.
She wears the sari, not a jubah like Felixia Yeap.
She wears jasmine flowers in her hair and does not cover her head in a tudung like Hannah Yeoh.
She wears the pottu on her forehead.
Ms B does not naik turun surau like Hannah. Neither does Ms B masuk keluar masjid suka-suka like the Puan Speaker.
There is nothing about Ms B to suggest a Muslim appearance or to indicate Islamic habits. Yet Jais is investigating her on the charge of “mengubah keimanan”.
Tanggungjawab Jais menjaga Islam
Understandably, it is the duty of Jais to protect Islam.
The Sultan of Selangor has more than once in his titah reminded his subjects that the masjid is not the right place to conduct any politicking. I may be wrong here but I do not see Jais paying heed to His Royal Highness’s admonitions because the evangelista politicians are still to be glimpsed in the masjid and the surau.
So how does Jais go about doing its job? Well it seems Jais felt duty-bound to disrupt Ms B’s wedding as if allowing her to go through with the Hindu ceremony would on the spot murtadkan this Indian woman from Islam.
Is the religious standing (whether officially Muslim or not) of Ms B a clear and present danger to Islam in Selangor? Yet to stop Ms B’s wedding from proceeding, Jais raided a Hindu temple. If the shoe were on the other foot, and Christian enforcement officers and police raided a mosque, do you think the ummah would not feel upset?
As I recall, Mais had printed and distributed thousands of copies of a booklet which cited verses from the Quran indicating that the threat to Islam comes from the traditional enemies of the faith.
Ms B is surely not an enemy of Islam. She’s just a bride who wants the memory of her wedding to be beautiful.

I dont want to hear what UMNO coment as UMNO now is toooo Islamic. I want to hear PAS comment as PAS is now tooooo Libral and tooo Hududnism. PAS is also part of Khalid Ibrahim goverment the so called most efficient Selangor Goverment ever had in history, sampaikan air kena catu tak cukup pun depa kata no issue.

2. Kenapa pihak pengantin sebelum nya tidak merujuk kepada berwajib. Jika di daftarkan, mesti ada keraguan.

Kat semenanjung, orang bukan Islam yang memegang KP berstatus Islam adalah jarang sekali (kecuali kalau ada yang bersangkut orang asli, itu saya tak pasti).
Yang membabitkan wanita ini kes terpencil namun sudah berlarutan selama beberapa tahun. Banyak pihak sudah merayu agar beliau dilepaskan daripada Islam.

Kesian kepada perempuan itu dan adiknya. Kesian juga kepada mak dia yang buta huruf. Tapi secara rasmi dua beradik beragama Islam. Sekarang kes ini dalam siasatan JAIS.

Yang nampak ni, Jais menyerbu kuil Hindu serta menghalang majlis perkahwinan seorang wanita (individu) daripada disempurnakan.
Yang tak nampak, di mana Jais tatkala kalimah Allah sedang dikebas oleh gereja dan puak serta politikus evangelista? Dalam kes DUMC pun Jais buat kerja tak cukup syarat (yakni “tak cukup bukti” untuk mendakwa, konon).
Dalam perkembangan semasa pula, kerja Jais seolah-olah telah diambil alih oleh Isma, Pembela, Muafakat, PPIM dan NGO-NGO Islam yang lain. Malah speaker tempatan di seminar Kristianisasi-UiTM pun enggan Jais nak pertahankan.
Tu la Helen. Orang Muslims pun sebenarnya tidak terbela di tanahair sendiri. Mungkin sebab itulah banyak sangat fitnah melanda ke atas Muslims. Apa yang Helen cakap kat atas tu ada kebenarannya, saya pun malu nak mengaku, tapi nak buat macam mana.
Saya bersangka baik saja, jadi apa yang mereka buat saya harap mereka buat dengan adil dan saksama. Ini fardu kifayah Helen, kalau tak buat berdosa semua umat. Dengan itu saya berterima-kasih.
Tapi jangan ingat Muslims pun tidak jadi mangsa ke atas institusi Islam sendiri. Cadbury satu contoh. Tapai bangsa Melayu kan bangsa yang paling sabar sekali, sebab itu, ada orang ambil kesempatan.
Bapa yang tak bertanggungjawab tu, tak tahu apa motif dia buat macam ni. Tapi yang kena fitnah sekarang Muslims as a whole, tapi kami tak marah, kami terima ini sebagai ujian dan kami nak JAIS jalankan tugas mereka, tanpa gangguan daripada sesiapa, sama seperti kami tak suka kalau ada orang suruh JAKIM ‘lindungi’ Cadbury!

Bila JAIS mendapat maklumat adalah penting, jika pada masa yang lebih awal, sewajarnya pasangan itu dipanggil untuk memberi keterangan.
JAIS perlu serbu sebagai pilihan terakhir.
Jika melihat kepada peruntukan undang2 JAIS perlu berada pada masa kejadian sebagai bahan bukti

Peranan orang awam atau pengadu juga adalah penting untuk melaporkan segera kes2 yang meragukan dan bukannya tunggu di saat akhir.
Quran: “The Cow” verse 256:
“There shall be no compulsion in [the acceptance of] the religion. The right course has become clear from the wrong. So whoever turns away from Taghut (materialism and idolatry) and believes in Allah has grasped the most trustworthy handhold which shall not break. And Allah is Hearing and Knowing.”
Unless and until Ms. B has been taught about the right religion she ought not be held against her conscience. Islam being:
(1) the doctrine of Allah’s Oneness and His Lordship over all things created; the angels, prophets and divine revelations, and the certainty of the Day of Judgement, and about Destiny and its fulfillment. (2) the obligations integral to the Muslim concerning the testimony of faith in divine oneness and the final prophetic message, the ritual prayer, the fasting, the obligatory tithe, and the pilgrimage to the holy sanctuaries (3) the consciousness of the Lord’s omniscience, omnipresence, and omnipotence, most Just and most Merciful.
Where had the JAIS officlals been from the time she was a child abandoned by her nominally Muslim father, as she was being nurtured by Hindu relatives, until the present day of her wedding? What steps had any of the officials taken to introduce her to the congeniality of Islam and the Truth of the Quran and the blessed Prophet s.a.w.?
Actually, there are precedent cases where the Shariah Court ruled to allow leaving Islam. The Nyonya Tahir case. Another one a couple of years ago, a Chinese lady who divorced her middle eastern husband and don’t know whether the Chinese baby switched at birth case was resolved or not.
But you’re right, the conundrum lies in the situation where Mrs B was registered but never practised, not even born into a Muslim family, which court should decide? But before it even gets to a legal case, the question is on the administrative procedures that barred her from rectifying what her MIA father did all those years ago.
It need not have escalated to this if the simple matter of the missing signature was waived.

Yahudi Kristian Islam asalnya sama padang pasir. Quran kitab sejarah & cerita hebat rasul Bani Israil. Tak rasional sebab menerangkan sifat Allah dgn sifat manusia padahal Allah tiada langsung sifat manusia.

Al Quran adalah satu rahmat bagi orang-orang yang beriman. Al Quran juga memberikan pengetahuan kepada manusia apa yang tidak diketahuinya. Kejadian alam dan manusia dinyatatkan secara jelas serta kemana mereka akan berakhir. Ya hari kiamat hari pembalasan, hari yang belum berlaku lagi, hari yang belum menjadi sejarah. Bagaimana pula Al Quran dikatakan kitab sejarah ! manakala syurga itu kekal selamanya dimana tiada tarikh akhir untuk ia menjadi sejarah.
Al Quran memberi ilmu pengetahuan, pengetahuan nya meliputi Nabi Adam AS hingga Nabi Muhamamad SAW. Nabi Adam AS dan Nabi Muhammad SAW bukan Bani Israil.
Apakah bahasa atau cara yang lain untuk menerang siapa Allah bagi memahamkan manusia selain dari meggunakan bahasa manusia boleh faham?

Bukankah pengetahuan syurga itu diberitahu melalui Kitab Allah.
Apakah perlu lebih 4 kitab, baru orang beriman?Hak Allah untuk melantik Nabi dan Rasul. Rasul yang tiada kitab tiada masalah untuk menegakan syiar Islam.

Semua wujud cara natural law. Tiada magik. Manusia blm tahu asal sebenar kejadian alam & manusia. Agama pula percaya magik seperti Isa lahir cara luar biasa & masih hidup. Sebab itu la agama tak rasional.
Faith is 100% your choice. You are born a muslim, Hindu, Christian, Buddist etc however when you have grown up and self dependent able to decide and think then it all your choice whether you want to leave Islam, buddist, Hindu, Christian etc base on your believe.
Whether you have choose the right or wrong religion its between you and the almighty. We have been given the right to choose. Choose wisely.
Only in Malaysia there restriction of freedom of choice. Malays must be Muslim and when non muslim become muslim its a world of heaven for them and when for some reason they denounce or wanted to leave Islam its a world of hell for them. That’s reality in Malaysia.
Sholat in Islam is Mandatory but its your choice whether to do it or not, if you did not sholat than it but a sin between you and Allah So there’s a choice and the choice to change for a better Malaysia lies in the handz of all of us, Malaysian.
This is happening because JAIS is infested Taliban morons, morons who probably admire the likes of PAS, IKRAM and ISMA who wants us to go back to the stone.
I dun see JAIS as an islamic body but a bunch of body snatcher and bride kidnapper now.. JAIS and its Pakatan Selangor leaders especially Khalid brahim and Anwar Ibrahim, where is their leadership in this?
If Tunku or Mahathir were PM, JAIS will be disbanded and the marriage will be ignored allowed to go and ignored for the sake of racial harmony. The close one eye of the Malay moderates have been cornerstone of raial harmony, now JAIS and its PAS and ISMA zealots have dashed it, and DAP will make the drums of war… all can di martyr soon.
If the Pakatan JAIS does this again on several Hindu wedding, by god, I dare say a racial riot will occur and it’d be the PAS and ISMA morons fleeing while the DAPster evangelista will be picking fruits in NZ and ostolia as refugees.
