Now everybody can golf

MCA-Umno ‘harmony’ photos very boring lah …

Every Chinese New Year, The J-Star would splash its front page with predictable pictures of the MCA president tossing yee sang with the BN chairman, who is at the same time our country’s prime minister.

How about a more sporty picture to illustrate the goodies in store for the rakyat this year? The PM in Pink has promised to make golf available and accessible to every Malaysian.

  1. golf is not a cheap game. I reckon you wld need at least 80 acres of good flat/undulating land 4 n 18 hole golf course. it will be quite a challenge 2 find such stretches of land in d urban areas now. even if we can find one, don’t u think that its more appropriate 2 turn it into plots 4 ‘rumah rakyat’.

it is also not cheap to maintain d course 2 b in reasonable playing condition. I started my golfing on d council/public courses in uk. some of them were in such a terrible state that most of the time not all holes were payable. this is definitely going 2 b d case in Malaysia. my take is that this suggestion it will never take off n pm najib knows it. d rm2 mill wld b more useful 4 other less expensive sports such as sepak takraw; squash; etc etc.

I personally feel that pm najib was not serious when he made that statement. it was an impromptu speech that he gave during d prize giving ceremony after the successful completion of d recent Malaysian open.

dpm muhyudin has already started a golf academy . if ever we r serious in wanting 2 create a pool of world class golfers of d future, than this academy wil b a good base 2 start with .

pm najib shld stop making announcements of monetary give aways that may b counter productive in trying 2 remain popular.

I know 4 a fact that every time he makes this additional pledges d treasury boys (budget div) will cringe n scratch their heads wondering how 2 find d additional allocation in order that they fulfil unplanned expenditure.

PMO/JPM budget has a huge discretionary fund for contingencies.

      1. Helen,

The real problem with Najib is Malay perception that he does not understand the Malay masses. That may be has to do with his up bringing .

And the problem was compounded as he has an easy ride in politics. due to his father’s iconic position in Malay politics, Najib was elected to represent Pekan at tender age of 22.

Najib does not not understand the Malays or more precisely he looks down on Malays. As such he sees it as necessary to pay over expensive consultants who churn garbages. A smart man would get input from the very people who matters.

How about appointing several UMNO youth and getting their opinions on a lot of issues ranging from seemingly ridiculous matters like official title of PM’s wife to substance like DAP never ending slandering against UMNO.

They will give honest replies based on reality.

He may get Khairy-type of answers from them.

          1. Helen,

Najib is the PM. He has access to UMNO’s data. There are many great leaders within UMNO grassroots. He just have to scout around.

Often these great potentials are not known as they are at lowest level of UMNO’s rank. I have one suggestion. I personally know Ketua Pmuda UMNO wilayah, Razlan. He is a good man.

              banyak dah jadi ‘hang nadim’.

                – Encik Shamsul Anuar, based on your two statementst above, i truly believe your opinion and intention is noble for your love of this great country of ours.. But you just got NO idea about UMNO’ politics.. – Ex-KP. –

                1. Algae,

                  many thanks for the reply.

On the contrary, I know a bit about UMNO’s politics. I may not have access to Najib. But I know he must know the sentiments of the Malays.

He must have realised that the Malays votes carried him through. Not 1Malaysia, Blue Ocean, or Talentcorp. No amount of money wasted on grand Chinese dinner can satisfy the Chinese.

They will come, eat with gusto , take pictures with PM. But that are all. Come election day, they will vote for DAP..

There are still hopes for UMNO. after all, what choices Malays have. Hardly any beside UMNO.

If Najib continues to “fail” repeatedly in understanding malay sentiments, he would be replaced by who’s who in UMNO. Failing to do so, they (who’s who will be booted out in PRU14). The choice is in their hands.

And here we go, as predicted. Perennially.
