Tun supporters, ponder on this!

Tweet below by blogger otai Big Dog.

Some of us disagree with some of the things Tun has been doing and saying of late.

My own example: I disagree with the tacit support that Tun lent The Malaysian Insider.

He made it as if TMI was being investigated and hampered by the authorities because the publication was carrying critical 1MDB stories.

The truth of the matter is that the TMI editors were hauled up for questioning, on the charge of sedition. This is specifically after the Raja-Raja Melayu made a police report through the Penyimpan Mohor Besar Raja-Raja.

As usual, TMI had fabricated a falsehood. It said that a matter pertaining to hudud had been discussed and decided at the Ruler’s Council meeting. How would TMI know? Were any of its reporters present? Of course not.

Since the Raja-Raja Melayu were murka at the TMI article, who would you believe? Our nine monarchs and their advisors – after all, it was their own private and confidential mesyuarat – or TMI, the opposition propagandist with a known track record of fitnah running a mile long?

Among the more recent TMI sleight of hand – ‘Malaysian Insider berbohong mengenai permohonan maaf Isma kepada Marina Mahathir’ – see Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz‘s blog.

You can say that I’ve been less than teruja over Tun’s spin with regard to TMI, and on a few other issues as well not necessarily related to current politics, e.g. the claim by Dr M that the Rohingya have been settled in Rakhine, Myanmar for 800 years.

That would be akin to claiming that Chinese have lived in the Malay peninsula for 600 years – from the time of the landing of Admiral Zheng He’s fleet in the 1400s. But we know this claim of a long Chinese presence here would not be accurate at all to describe the continuity of the diaspora except in Malacca.

It’s true that there is a small group of Baba Nyonyas who can trace their ancestry in this country very far back. But they are the tiny minority of Chinese who qualify thus.

The majority are like Lim Kit Siang, who is a second generation immigrant. His father came from China and worked in pig farm. Hannah Yeoh’s maternal grandfather came here and drove a bus. Her maternal grandmother sold char kuey teow along Old Klang Road.

For Tun to misrepresent that the Rohingya have an 800-year history in Burma is parallel to DAP headquarters (hypothetically) making a claim that the Chinese have a 600-year long history in Malaya.

The bulk of the Rohingya and the Chinese made their way into Burma and Malaya during the colonial era when the British imperialists opened both countries’ borders to a large immigrant workforce in the interest of the white man’s economy.

Tun is doing a great disservice to the underlying basis for Malay special position by spinning the Rohingya issue.

This is because the DAP can easily latch on to Tun’s type of manipulation and apply an identical modus operandi (line of argument) as he, and assert that with a history going back six centuries in Malaya, the Chinese should not be regarded as keturunan pendatang but deserve pribumi status instead.

When we disagree with Tun, we are able to point out just where he’s not being factual. Everybody is entitled to his own personal opinions but we’re not entitled to have our own facts.

Facts are facts.

Yet when we highlight that Tun is fudging facts, we’re attacked by the Tun devotees will all kinds of unfounded accusations like we’ve been bought, we’re Najib macai, we’ve been turned over by the government, etc, etc. I’m irked by such a rubbishy approach.

Presently many ordinary Malays disagree with Tun showing up at Bersih. Are they going to be disparaged too?

Sorry. Sidestepping with the lame excuse that Tun is not actually supporting Bersih but only taking a stroll among the rakyat in Dataran last weekend just doesn’t cut it.

What Tun’s staunch followers have is a big, blind spot. Any disagreement with Tun is seen as a betrayal and portrayed as a blow dealt by mercenaries on behalf of Najib.

Well guys, think over the following okay. Who is displaying the biggest disagreement with Tun today?

Why it’s the statesman himself! Yeah, that’s right. Mahathir Present is going against everything that Mahathir Past had upheld when he was in power.

Big Dog – a long-time Mahathir loyalist – tweeted that by attending Bersih 4.0 twice, Tun “DEMONSTRATED he disagreed with himself!”

When we (bloggers) disagree with Tun, his followers make all kinds accusations against us. So when it is Tun disagreeing with Tun, what are his taksubers gonna say now?

Tun’s previous stance over illegal assemblies was eminently clear. After all, he crushed the Reformasi rallies. And Tun certainly didn’t believe that Anwar’s followers taking to the streets is the proper way to dispose of the sitting PM (that would be himself).

Some readers are wondering why I don’t side with the Tun rebels against Najib. Well, consider that it might be due to your (the Tun crowd) behaviour, huh?

I find that when I disagree with the DAP, their Dapsters hit below the belt by launching vile smear campaigns against me.

When I disagree with Tun, his followers claim I’ve been bought, I’ve changed and they get rude and personal.

When I disagree with Najib, I’m not made a victim of any whispering campaign to destroy my credibility and drag my reputation in the mud.

Furthermore, the public figures who argue in defence of the government (essentially Najib’s policies and position) are able to remain rational and logical, such as Rahman Dahlan, Salleh Said Keruak and Lim Sian See.

We do not live in a perfect or ideal world.

Neither the establishment nor the opposition are spotless, and I hold that the DAP is certainly much worse. But the crucial difference is that at least Umno voters are their party’s own harshest critics while the DAP voters will argue that Bak Kut Teh is not pork to defend the indefensible.

Speaking on the level of blogosphere, you will notice how the Umno bloggers often provide space for opposing views.

Many of the prominent Umno blogs carry a blogroll listing the blogs that are pro-opposition (i.e. PAS, PKR). Umno bloggers also have the blogs of opposition leaders (e.g. Kit Siang, Anwar) linked on their home page.

On the other hand, DAP bloggers pretending to be objective and non-partisan never have on their blogroll any pro-establishment blogs that might be able to persuade their (Dapster) readers that the Kim Family does not smell of roses.

Umno bloggers let contrarian comments through. Opposition bloggers usually will not let dissenting opinions see the light of day. TMI is a notorious culprit for not approving sound, pro-government comments.

I’ve never heard of any Umno leaders blocking Twitter users whereas the oppo leaders (Hannah, Guan Eng, Tony Pua, Rafizi) are legendary in their tight censorship.

Since push comes to shove and I’m required to pick a side, I choose to be with the saner group of people. It’s as simple as that.

  1. Dear Helen,
Why did you whacked me back then when I was defending Rosmah? That was just weeks before this whole Tun-Najib war started. I remember you as hating Najib and Rosmah back then. You whacked Najib when he was caught playing golf with Obama during the great flood end of last year while I defended him. You called Rosmah as Rosmelda in reference of Imelda Marcos. And when I defended her, you wrote a lengthy piece and told me that I can’t see the big picture. Then when this war started you said you choose to be neutral, same as me. But now you are whacking Tun. Why?

    1. Dear Helen,

re: “Why did you whacked me back then when I was defending Rosmah?”

Why in the world would and should you defend Rosmah? She’s super extravagant and duper spendthrift. Her immoderate public image is giving everybody on all sides, including Tun, endless ammo to attack the PM. And she’s highly unpopular on the ground.

re: “That was just weeks before this whole Tun-Najib war started.”

Well, I didn’t know that there would be civil war. Like you, I was taking the reassuring line that Tun was only advising on the sidelines to steer Najib on the right path.

re: “I remember you as hating Najib and Rosmah back then.”

      (1) I don’t hate Najib. I’ve always maintained that he’s an Orang Kaya Indera Shahbandar bangsawan, i.e. a nobleman, and I’ve repeatedly mentioned his noblesse oblige nature. (Noblesse oblige is a positive trait – means he’s high class.)

I’ve also said often that he’s a genuine moderate. That he’s got the patience of a saint (bagai malaikat, grrrr), he’s too kind (to MCA), too trusting (of The J-Star) and speaks English beautifully.

I don’t like his konsetan, punahsihat, Pemandu, TalentCorp, NUCC, GMM and Saifuddin Abdullah. And more … the list is rather long. Funny how we can hate his sins and still love the sinner.

re: You defended Rosmah by implying that maybe she did not really waste all that money by buying genuine Birkins but was using counterfeit. Hahahahaha.

re: “You whacked Najib when he was caught playing golf with Obama during the great flood end of last year while I defended him.”

I wish he was more attuned to nasib rakyat marhaen b’cos it is the working class, poor and rural Malays who are keeping his party in power. I really dislike the wasteful funding he has allocated to TalentCorp (pls see HERE). I remember writing, in the piece directed to you, that some of us can only afford to eat one meal a day.

re: “You called Rosmah as Rosmelda in reference of Imelda Marcos.”

      Yup.

re: “And when I defended her, you wrote a lengthy piece and told me that I can’t see the big picture.”

Yes. Rather than defending Kak Ros, you should have advised that she dip under the radar. She’s costing her husband many, many points in the popularity rating.

re: “Then when this war started you said you choose to be neutral, same as me.”

Because we both possess the insider knowledge to realise that realistically Najib can’t be budged, insofar as the Umno internal mechanisms and patronage system goes.

re: “But now you are whacking Tun. Why?”

Lim Kit Siang is treating him like a new found BFF. The Dapsters at Bersih were screaming “Hidup Tun, we lurv ya (same like how they love Marina). They (DAP) even want him to rule the country in a triumvirate alongside Sleepy Dollah and Tun Musa.

When the enemy starts to treat Tun like the best invention since sliced bread, then his own side had better realise that Tun has become the de facto Opposition Leader and a more destructive wrecking ball than DAP and PKR combined.

When Rafizi and Tony Pua were barking about 1MDB, we didn’t even pay attention. When took it up, the issue risks brimging down the BN government. I don’t want that to happen. Kim Guan Eng could become DPM, Hannah Yeoh the Minister of Religion and Ong Kian Ming the Minister of New Communications. The horror!

        1. ‘Tun was only advising on the sidelines to steer Najib on the right path.’

He still does. Mungkin MO sudah bukan sidelines lagi. Terpaksa.

‘Funny how we can hate his sins and still love the sinner.’

You are not alone Helen. Many did too.

‘When Rafizi and Tony Pua were barking about 1MDB, we didn’t even pay attention.’

Tak la Helen. Kita silent majority, ada baca walaupun tidak percaya bulat2.

  2. i say, i disagree with tun method for attending bersih. but i still support his views on najib. he has been ridiculed lots of time, and having ridicule again for going against himself, well, its for him to say. i will support tun on asking najib to step down.

    1. I’m with cam on this. Tun going to Bersih doesn’t seem right, but his fight against Najib is something I support.

      1. ‘Zam: Dr M feels Najib more dangerous than DAP’ … Read more: https://www.malaysiakini.com/news/310515#ixzz3kZonu2oZ

It’s down to the wire, and I’m aware of all the negative arguments lined up against Najib. However I remain convinced that DAP is far, far more dangerous than Najib.

If Najib remains in power, he’s not going to cause any harm to Islam.

If the DAP comes to power, the evangelistas will sneakily undermine Islam, just like how they’re undermining the traditional faith beliefs in China and freaking out Beijing and the provincial Chinese governments.

But the Love-Love-Love cult will deflect the blame to the Cina totok, like how Hannah Yeoh deflected hate to the Sin Chew columnist who criticised her tudung by sneakily setting up a straw man – his “extreme views”, the “extreme (un-Firster Chinese) mindset”.

They hate Islam at a deep, down-to-the-bone level, and it’s part and parcel of the eternal struggle between the Cross and the Crescent, the crusaders and the jihadists.

They will not live and let live on the issue of religion like the Buddhists, the Taoists and the Hindus have been willing to do all this while in Malaysia. The attitude of the DAP evangelistas towards Islam is the same as the Bible Belt fundamentalists.

So between the danger of the DAP and the kekalutan of Najib, my choice is crystal clear.

        1. Zamkata ‘because he loves Umno’

Najib is a liability to UMNO. The circus needs to end. With him around, UMNO probably kalah. Probably too, menang sorak, kampung tergadai.

          1. You’ll be surprised what orang kampung has to say. This was what Ayahanda kawasan told me;

…..Dulu anak2 pakai kasut sekolah sampai koyak pun tak mampu beli baru. Under Najib Alhamdulillah tiap tahun dapat rasa kasut sekolah baru….

and he came up with tons of comparision zaman2 Tun and Najib.

            Mungkin kita tidak nampak, walaupun sikit orang dari pendalaman dapat juga merasa dan kongsi cikit2 hasil kekayaan Negara;

            http://www.sinarharian.com.my/mobile/nasional/700-usahawan-sertai-karnival-usahawan-desa-1.418169

Banyak lagi fasiliti2 lain yang telah Najib introduce seperti Klinik 1Malaysia, peluang pelajaran which once, was out of reach to the very poors. BRM1 walaupun cikit means a lot to many.

Sedih. I’m torn.

        2. quote,”If Najib remains in power, he’s not going to cause any harm to Islam.”unquote.

Anti-Najib sides (the Muslim ones) are not worried that Najib will cause any harm to Islam, Helen.

Najib has lost his credibility as the highest Yang Berhormat in country, mainly from the 1MDB fiasco. For a millionth time, I can’t comprehend why you couldn’t publicly attest to the damaging effect 1MDB fiasco is inflicting on Malaysia now.

Najib has to go. Malaysia will not fall on DAP’s lap if Najib leaves. Bersih 4.0 has already demonstrated that DAP and PKR will not be walking towards Putrajaya any soon without PAS.

Below is excerpts from what Jose Ugas, president of Germany-based Transparency International, said today at the 16th International Anti-Corruption Conference (IACC) in KL, which I copy from Syed’s blog:

Among other things Jose Ugas said :

          – must provide answers on (RM2.6 billion) in Najib’s accounts

          – Malaysia cannot be taken seriously as long as it did not explain
who paid the money, why, and what happened to it

          – unanswered questions about US$700 million in PM’s account
hall, which comprised delegates from across the world, broke into applause

-“No one in Malaysia not aware of corruption allegations of recent months”

-how damaging they are to the country

-“There is a corruption crisis here,” said Ugaz

-He said the AG “who was critical of the government” was replaced

-task force probing into (1MDB) was suspended

          -investigators were‎ arrested

          -newspapers suspended

-“These are not the actions of a government that is fighting corruption

-no claim from the government on anti-corruption will be credible.”

Saya malu besarlah sekarang. Saya tak tahu mana nak tunjuk muka bila jumpa foreigners and expats (of whom I work with daily). My PM has no credibility now, be it in the country and worldwide.

          1. re: “For a millionth time, I can’t comprehend why you couldn’t publicly attest to the damaging effect 1MDB fiasco is inflicting on Malaysia now.”

Even if Najib goes, his successor in government will still have to carry the baby. So might as well let Arul Kanda untangle it under Najib’s watch.

Don’t think the whole financial scenario is as bad as the detractors/critics make it out to be. (Cross reference – other currencies are also falling due to other reasons but Najib critics are making as if he’s the direct cause of the Ringgit depreciation.)

I believe Lim Sian See has been answering the kemusykilan-kemusykilan over the 1MDB controversy – check out his FB or blog.

The two next most senior leaders are Zahid and Hisham. Both of them did not find the missing MH370, and did not inspire confidence either during the Lahad Datu invasion.

Can you trust them to untangle 1MDB satisfactorily so that it will be a good outcome for BN? Remember, we’re facing general election in another short 2-and-1/2 years.

            re: Corruption and fighting corruption

The last thing that the oppo is is clean. And the last thing I see them fighting is corruption.

In their short tenure of 7 years in Penang and S’gor, there have been damage like Botak Hills, undersea tunnel land swap-deal shenanigans (I can’t pinpoint corruption as I’m not the MACC) than there were in the first 35 years of Alliance-BN rule.

DAP has earned itself the moniker Developers Above People party. The DAP politicians are also cosy with the tycoons and reputedly with the underworld.

Guan Eng established Chief Minister Incorporated in Penang, and now we’re hearing about Azmin’s DEIG and his RM2 company.

The opposition is much worse! And they’re doing dodgy thing is super speed. Plus they ousted Khalid Ibrahim to get their grubby hands on the Selangor piggy bank. It’s like jumping from the frying pan into the fire if you buy the oppo rhetoric about ‘Bersih’.

I don’t believe them for a minute. My skepticism of them was founded way before the 1MDB controversy surfaced.

            1. ‘Don’t think the whole financial scenario is as bad as the detractors/critics make it out to be.’

This is from the Bank Negara itself.

“It appears that the country is in denial mode. The sharp fall in commodity prices, rapidly shrinking ringgit, ballooning external debt, ailing stock market and falling central bank reserves are all taking a heavy toll on the Malaysian economy. And yet, we keep hearing that the fundamentals are still strong.”

“Such talk only serves to dampen investor sentiment further, as these give rise to the impression that the government cannot even recognise or understand that there is a problem in the first place, let alone fix it,” he said.

According to Ariff, the country’s confidence and credibility crisis stemmed mainly from domestic factors.

DAP is bad. Got it. And UMNO shouldn’t be as bad.

But 2.6B in someone’s personal account is unprecedented won’t you say? I’m sorry, but if we tutup mata to this, what’s next?

  3. Helen,

Someone said that Tun Mahathir presence at Bersih 4 rally helped defuse the inherent racial tension in Bersih 4 due to the overwhelming Chinese people present during the rally.

His presence somewhat helped subdue (a little, if not neutralise) the image of “Malaysian-Chinese-only rebellion” on public eyes, which could have somewhat bring about big apprehension amongst the Malays.

Never underestimate Tun Mahathir; a statesman with limitless wisdom.

    What say you?

    1. :)

      (1) Post Tun’s Bersih stroll through, he reiterated to the media his emphasis that Najib must be removed, and that the proper channels i.e. vote of no confidence, may not swing it. He and his wife called for People Power.

      (2) In the last six months or so, he’s been consistent with the occasional message that Najib is too soft and accommodating of the Chinese, and that BN must focus on Malay (economic) empowerment.

So Nah, I don’t but that he did Bersih in order to mitigate the shit-hitting-the-fan that the Chinese huang he (Yellow River) have landed themselves with.

  4. Helen,

I think you should become Najib’s advisor. Seriously, the people who surround Najib seem clueless and are giving him wrong advise.
I think Najib is losing the war on every front. We should come with a plan B. And I don’t want that to include Mahathir.

  5. Are you saying that Tun Dr Mahathir is not allowed to speak his mind with regard to current and past developments?

    That may be your stance.

    Others think differently.

I think that most of what you post in your blog is rubbish and is far removed from reality.

    That is your right.

But if future circumstances prove you wrong, then be brave enough to admit that you got it wrong.

    1. re: “I think that most of what you post in your blog is rubbish and is far removed from reality.”

My, aren’t you a sucker for punishment. You lurk around here every day.

  6. My late grandfather used to ask “what are these Ahsos doing in his house”. Actually, those ladies are his granddaughters, ie my sisters. He was not able to recognize them.

Yet he can relate stories of Hitler, the Japanese invasions and remember the plate number of the first car he owns.

    1. It’s the ‘enemy of my enemy is my friend’ equation.

Tong Kooi Ong’s media group at the forefront of exposing 1MDB. Wonder if there’s any connection of Sufi Yusuf to the Bangkok caper?

  7. ‘Some readers are wondering why I don’t side with the Tun rebels against Najib.’

No lah. Since you don’t write about 1MDB at all that is pretty understood. But why should you be taking pis at Tun M ‘handling’ the issue?

    This I surely wonder?!

    1. He’s bringing down the BN. He’s doing something that Anwar, LKS and LGE are incapable of doing.

Also disagree with his Bersih antics.

  8. ‘But the crucial difference is that at least Umno voters are their party’s own harshest critics’

The same goes to Tun M. Understandably the man had done A LOT for this country. But of course he is only human. Well aren’t we all are?

    1. Umno voters maybe the party’s own harshest critics but unfortunately the President and all his men (and women) are ignoring the criticisms because they do not like the critics.

The President acknowledge the GE13 Chinese Tsunami. The Umno voters were angry and voiced their displeasure at what they felt was a betrayal by MCA. The President listened, heard and ignored them by appointing MCA into the cabinet.

The Umno voters were upset with TMI and MKini and a few other outlets for printing false allegations of voter fraud and blackout and what-nots and they got away with apologies when the Umno voters wanted Umno to pursue the matter to court judgment.

Most ordinary Umno members do not have a clue about 1MDB but they had heard the opposition version. So instead of going down to the ground to explain, the President pretended it wasn’t a problem until Tun started explaining in his writings and speeches what was wrong with 1MDB. By that time it had become a major problem. And yet the President and his men denied and prevaricated and turned what should have been an explainable matter into a colossal mess. And when that happened the President and all his men turned the issue into an “us vs Tun” and made Tun into the villainous monster through Media Prima.

Then came Bersih. There are some Malays who are not too happy with Tun showing up at Bersih. There are also quite a number who believe that it’s way past time for Najib to withdraw. The longer this battle goes on the worse it will be for Umno.

Some Umno voters are going through “battle fatigue”, some are sick and tired of the battle, some are quite understandably ignoring this and going about their daily lives as usual. But regardless whether we think that Tun is doing right or wrong, we can’t be in denial that the root of the problem lies with the President himself.

      1. re: “unfortunately the President and all his men (and women) are ignoring the criticisms because they do not like the critics”

Najib took his harsh critic Waytha Moorthy on board. How many politicians would have been willing to give Hindraf a hearing? The DAP was busy tarring them as “racists” for not subscribing to Colour Blind and Meritocracy.

re: “The Umno voters were angry and voiced their displeasure at what they felt was a betrayal by MCA. The President listened, heard and ignored them by appointing MCA into the cabinet.”

There are 7 million Chinese. As PM, he can’t abandon this segment of the population even though all that they show is contempt and utter disdain for him. He was maintaining his statesmanship even as they spat in his face.

It’s the easier thing to do to cut off the Chinese (symbolically the MCA), i.e. ikut rasa, and the harder thing to do to try and mend fences for the sake of the country’s stability.

re: “The Umno voters were upset with TMI and MKini and a few other outlets for printing false allegations of voter fraud and blackout and what-nots and they got away with apologies when the Umno voters wanted Umno to pursue the matter to court judgment.”

Some of us are unhappy with the Gani Patail for the NFA on TMI. But some get upset when Gani Patail is removed from office a couple of months earlier than his contract due to end. If the AG recently appointed goes after TMI‘s arse, I shall be delighted. So no loss that Gani is not AG. And good that we have a new AG.

re: “Most ordinary Umno members do not have a clue about 1MDB but they had heard the opposition version. So instead of going down to the ground to explain, the President pretended it wasn’t a problem until Tun started explaining in his writings and speeches what was wrong with 1MDB.”

Spot on about Tun’s effectiveness. TIDAK APA is in the Umno DNA. Not just the President’s shortcoming alone. G25 also tidak apa. Malaysia lost Pulau Batu Putih, and that Farida woman’s name crops up with relation to the case/arbitration.

re: “By that time it had become a major problem. And yet the President and his men denied and prevaricated and turned what should have been an explainable matter into a colossal mess.”

Same with Rosmah’s purported RM24m ring. For me, the thing is that Najib – of all people – must have by now realised what Dajjal the oppo are. I’m not sure that Zahid or Hisham have this awareness. Neither ZH nor HH pernah kena kaw-kaw at the hands of the oppo like Najib has.

What doesn’t kill you will make you stronger.
I’m surviving the Dapster smear campaign and the evangelista 24/7 stalking. That’s what makes me strong.

The bottomline is that the oppo, particularly DAP, are dajjal. My choice of BN leader is someone who realises what a complete dajjal the DAP is. Rahman Dahlan is someone who does and he acts/reacts accordingly. Najib has to appoint a war cabinet and BN has to go on a war footing.

I’m not sure that someone else as BN chairman will be able to form a war cabinet and take BN into a war footing.

re: “And when that happened the President and all his men turned the issue into an “us vs Tun” and made Tun into the villainous monster through Media Prima.”

Okay. This aspect hasn’t registered on me ‘cos I watch little TV.

re: “The longer this battle goes on the worse it will be for Umno.”

Absolutely. But Najib will emerge the victor from the internal Umno battle.

re: “Some Umno voters are going through ‘battle fatigue’,”

The DAP supporters are indefatigable. Like me.

re: “some are sick and tired of the battle”

The DAP supporters are like Energizer Bunnies. They’re hopping around in Sarawak. And Sabah, Johor and even Kelantan.

re: “some are quite understandably ignoring this and going about their daily lives as usual”

While the DAP supporters are all pumped up and willing to camp 36 hours in the KL streets.

re: “But regardless whether we think that Tun is doing right or wrong, we can’t be in denial that the root of the problem lies with the President himself.”

He tries to do the right things. Like promote ‘moderation’ but we despise his GMM. He tries to promote reconciliation but we despise his NUCC. He tries to liberalize and abolished the ISA but got not a word of thanks from the self-confessed liberals (the human rights gang and other NGOs).

He’s tolerant but we abuse his patience.

He’s still wearing his 1Malaysia lapel pin on his coat every time we see his photo. But both sides of the political divide despise his 1Malaysia attempt.

The problem is us. Not him.

        1. ‘As PM, he can’t abandon this segment of the population even though all that they show is contempt and utter disdain for him.’

I thought you were adamant for him/UMNO to cut off MCA from BN, no?

‘My choice of BN leader is someone who realises what a complete dajjal the DAP is.’

The faster the PM leave, the sooner we can face the dajjal, head on and be done with it. Him around would only strengthened the dajjal and its forces. Akar umbi UMNO and the atas pagar Melayu may not vote for dajjal and gangs, but they can always pilih untuk tak keluar mengundi, like most did in 2008, sampai Kedah (in particular) jatuh.

That’s what happened when ‘you’ ridiculed Tun M, just like what they are doing now, with TV3, attacking all Tun’s, siap dengan Proton sekali. How stupid is that?

Is UMNO willing to lose Kedah, and apparently Johor as well next?

Terengganu dengan Perak oso nyawa-nyawa ikan already? Is that how, Najib staying will selamatkan UMNO/BN?

          1. re: “I thought you were adamant for him/UMNO to cut off MCA from BN, no?”

Yes. My assessment is that there is no hope and no cure for them. But I’m not the prime minister. I’m just an opinionated blogger.

As the PM, Najib (unlike me) has to be responsible for everyone in Malaysia even if they’re the ‘no hope, no cure’ buggers. He won’t break faith with MCA and the BN concept until it breaks itself.

re: “The faster the PM leave, the sooner we can face the dajjal, head on and be done with it.”

In the absence of Najib, who is going to lead us to face the dajjal head on? Zahid? Hisham? Remember Lahad Datu?

re: “Him around would only strengthened the dajjal and its forces.”

True to a certain extent. But the dajjal would exploit whatever they can to weaken whoever is the chief.

If it was Hisham, they would ungkit perkara of his keris-waving, and also that banter from the delegate “you have unsheathed the keris, when are you going to use it?”

They read more deadly menace into the delegate’s challenge than I do. I call it a “banter”. They called it murderous incitement, and they whipped up a hysteria over it, it you will recall.

re: “Akar umbi UMNO and the atas pagar Melayu may not vote for dajjal and gangs, but they can always pilih untuk tak keluar mengundi, like most did in 2008, sampai Kedah (in particular) jatuh.”

And the BN heavy losses in 2008 that led to the downfall of Badawi was largely Mahathir’s doing. In 2018, Tun is going to do the same to Najib. Only this time, we will lose Putrajaya unlike Badawi who only lost the BN’s 2/3 majority.

re: “That’s what happened when ‘you’ ridiculed Tun M, just like what they are doing now, with TV3, attacking all Tun’s, siap dengan Proton sekali. How stupid is that?”

There’s no hope for Tun backing off, and no cure for Tun’s dendam kesumat against Najib. So Najib’s people resort to the attacks through TV3. Whether they ridicule Tun or they treat Tun with kid gloves is not going to change Tun’s determination (tekad).

re: “Is UMNO willing to lose Kedah, and apparently Johor as well next?”

Isn’t it self-destructive if Tun’s actions lead to the loss of Kedah? After all, Mukhriz is MB.

As for Johor, the DAP already susun langkah untuk tawan sejak dari PRU13 lagi and before the 1MDB controversy broke under Tun’s prodding. With or without 1MDB and RM2.6b ‘donation’, the DAP had already sight their sight on Kedah.

re: “Terengganu dengan Perak oso nyawa-nyawa ikan already?”

PAS already did well in Terengganu in GE13 before 1MDB became a public debate. And BN has been weak in Perak since 2008. It’s not Najib’s fault that BN was so weak in Perak that BN lost the state to Pakatan in GE12.

Najib inherited a weak BN that was weakened primarily through Tun’s vendetta against Sleepy Dollah.

Under Najib, Umno did better in GE13 than in GE12. This means that under Najib’s leadership, Umno recovered. It was the Chinese components in BN that sunk from the tsunami and dragged the ruling coalition down.

re: “Is that how, Najib staying will selamatkan UMNO/BN?”

How will any other Umno politician lead BN better than Najib can?

Will the Chinese hatred for Umno and for BN decrease if Zahid or Hisham was the BN chairman? Will the Christians’ never-ending whine that they’re a small (“only 9 percent”) persecuted and oppressed minority cease if Zahid or Hisham was the BN chairman?

If Zahid was to take charge tomorrow, they will still have Bersih 5.0 and pijak-pijak his gambar. They will bring up any excuse – I can think of several to kenakan him. Even if I don’t list them here, you too know what the issues are.

            1. ‘If it was Hisham’

No Hisham is too lembik already. He can’t even jaga our sacred Keris, what more to safeguard the Malay interests.

Perhaps, Zahid and Muhyiddin can work hand in hand. Maybe not in that order. Mukhriz M too.

‘Isn’t it self-destructive if Tun’s actions lead to the loss of Kedah? After all, Mukhriz is MB.’

Najib yang dok back-pedaling. Dulu kata kalau BN memang semula Kedah, mungkin Mukhriz Mahathir akan dijadikan Menteri Besar Kedah. Itu janji Najib kat rakyat Kedah.

Sekarang dah ungkit yang bukan2. Ingat orang lupa. Mukhriz bertanding kat kawasan lawan. Bukan kerusi selamat. So bila orang Kedah dah happy, bagi BN menang, pasai 2.6B fiasco, terus nak kacau kedudukan MB Kedah? WTF?!

Siapa yang bagi huru-hara UMNO sekarang semata-maat untuk selamatkan diri?

With this UMNO will lingkup and it has got nothing to do with Muhyiddin or Shafei or Mukhriz or Tun M.

              The circus needs to stop.

              Tengok ni!

‘The High Court has ordered the prime minister and three others to file their defence in response to a suit by the opposition for allegedly overspending in their 13th general election campaign.

Nurul Izzah said that the facts of the case exposed corruption and various corrupt tactics used by BN to win the 13th general election.

“It is obvious that the RM2.6 billion used is more than 26 times the allowed amount as outlined by Malaysian laws,” Nurul Izzah told a press conference on August 12.

Siapa yang GENIUS sangat suruh bagi idea benda tu DERMA untuk pilihanraya???

              And then this??

“We have to record his statement because we have received a police report from an Umno division leader, and also on the statement he made on corruption,” – See more at: http://www.themalaysianinsider.com/malaysia/article/dr-mahathir-to-be-investigated-for-criminal-defamation#sthash.EQOZyjCc.dpuf

Apparently everyone else is being investigated but not the man with RM2.6B in his personal account?

‘Apa perkembangan laporan polis yang dibuat Datuk Seri Khairuddin Abu Hassan terhadap PERDANA MENTERI?’

              http://www.apanama.my/2015/09/polis-sudah-panggil-najib-razak-dan.html

Come on, he seriously thinks Malaysian would want to see Tun M be jailed for attending Bersih and utter some unkind words?

              Siapa dia punya punahsihat again??

        2. I can understand appointing MCA to the cabinet but 3 full ministers and 3 deputies after the reshuffle are a bit much when compared to their dismal performance in GE13. MCA has not been seen to be fully supportive of the government and at times seemed to be in support of the Dap especially when it comes to Malay-Cina relations. Maybe, its partly because they are not getting much postive media coverage these days but considering they own the Star they should do something about it.

Yes we were unhappy when Gani did not pursue a few cases involving the opposition, but being upset over the removal of Gani is more to do with the 1MDB issue. They are two separate issues and most people can differentiate that. Now, for the majority malays the main test for the new AG is the illegal Bersih assembly, while for the rest is still the 1MDB.

You said Najib will emerge the victor in the internal Umno battle, and you would be right, mainly because he’s the sitting president and he controls the majority of the heads of the Bahagian. There are what? 190 Ketua Bahagian for over 3 million members. How many does Najib need to win? How many votes do the you need to win the Ketua Bahagian post? The remainder are all those who are unhappy members.

I have seen how this voting process works at the very grass root level. It’s not a level playing field. There are some Bahagian where only death will part the Ketua Bahagian from his position.

“He tries to do the right things …” No one is denying that Najib has done some good, just like no one can deny that Tun has done a lot of good for the country. But we have come to a point where he has lost the trust and faith of a lot of Malaysians at every level. Most are not willing to overlook the 1MDB and donation issues.

So as far as I can see he may win the Umno battle but he will surely lose the war.

          1. re: “he may win the Umno battle but he will surely lose the war”

Yup, he will win the Umno battle. It’s the power of incumbency.

You cannot allow Najib to lose the war. If he loses, the DAP will take over Putrajaya.

            1. I have a problem with LSS’s analysis of anything related to the economy. He assumes that he is catering to an audience who do not understand the economy or whose understanding is not at his level. His approach is what I would term as oversimplifying the issues. I find him and Jasa and a few of the Umno bloggers who try to defend (the indefensible USD700 m donation and problematic 1MDB) guilty of dumbing down the masses.

Here’s an interesting opinion on the Jasa booklet:
              http://spin-kings.blogspot.my/2015/09/1mdb-siapa-kata-tidak-dijawab.html

              1. (1) LSS provided a number of counter arguments to Tun.

                (2) If Najib is ruthless enough, he’ll be able to remain in power until 2018 election.

The question is our (i.e. BN supporters) threshold.

  9. “But the crucial difference is that at least Umno voters are their party’s own harshest critics while the DAP voters will argue that Bak Kut Teh is not pork to defend the indefensible.”

Obviously UMNO/BN are going to be subjected to much more heavy criticism. They have been the ruling party for 58 long years ffs. If the opposition comes into power and messes up, don’t you worry, the same people supporting them now will turn on them in an instant.

    1. re: “If the opposition comes into power and messes up, don’t you worry, the same people supporting them now will turn on them in an instant.”

The oppo is already in power in Kelantan, Selangor, Penang, briefly Perak and intermittently T’ganu & Sabah.

I was among the electorate who voted Pakatan into power in S’gor in 2008. By 2013, I had already wanted them out. But it’s mission impossible. Once the scumbag politicians get their claws on power, you can’t tear their talons away from the grip. Pakatan supporters are intoxicated zombies.

And I believe Pakatan’s standards have deteriorated multiple times faster than BN. It took BN 60 years in power before they got so bad that a critical mass of voters got sick of them.

I got sick of Pakatan in less than 2-3 years.

So did this fella – he even calls them “DAPigs”. See, http://mynation.my/the-decline-of-malaysian-chinese/

    2. Re: If the opposition comes into power and messes up, don’t you worry, the same people supporting them now will turn on them in an instant.

I beg to differ. You surely are not oblivious to the almost sainthood status of LKS, LGE and HY to name a few. In the eyes of their supporters they can do no wrong. I have yet to see any negative stories on them on any subject run for more than 2-3 days, on TMI or MKini or The Star.

If the opposition come into power and messes up, the excuse will be “it must be the fault of Umno” for the next ten, twenty or more years.

      1. ‘If the opposition come into power and messes up, the excuse will be “it must be the fault of Umno” for the next ten, twenty or more years.’

Yup, we already saw that coming didn’t we?? ABU till kingdom comes!

    3. ‘If the opposition comes into power and messes up, don’t you worry, the same people supporting them now will turn on them in an instant.’

      MANA TAK NAMPAK PUN??

  10. Actually, I for one, am glad Najib will hang on to next PRU. With or without Mahathir around, it doesn’t matter. That’s what you fail to grasp, Helen. You and that dear naive Annie. Mahathir is not the factor for Umno / BN’s loss. Najib staying in power, is.

Mahathir being 90 can pass away next month but it won’t matter, the result will be the same. As long as Najib is still PM in 2018, Umno will fall.

    Bank on it.

    1. re: “As long as Najib is still PM in 2018, Umno will fall.”

If you’re so sure that Najib remaining will cause Umno to fall, then the DAP needn’t bother so hard with all your sneaky ploys to remove him from office.

Better let Najib stay on, it’s to the DAP’s benefit what :D

        1. re: “You think I am DAP?”

          I take it back.

re: “Interesting. Why do you assume that?”

It’s me, not you. I was feeling grumpy.

  11. bq. “Sorry. Sidestepping with the lame excuse that Tun is not actually supporting Bersih but only taking a stroll among the rakyat in Dataran last weekend just doesn’t cut it.”

And RM2.6b in the PM’s private account, after so much denials and then it’s now a donation, that too just doesn’t cut it.

But yes, Tun attended the rally, as a supporter or not, that is really dissapointing. The lame excuse given just doesn’t cut it.

  12. Tak percaya u ni cina, sya selalu baca blog u dgn penuh minat.

  13. I wonder what is the difference between Amanah (formerly GHB, rebranding Worker’s party) from PKR.
If Amanah is Islam then the constant visits of leaders to the churches, is very Islam? Now it is multi racial party. So is PKR.

And will the non Muslims be streaming to the masjid for makan2? (Like our Speaker Box and gang who pakai tudung and baju kebaya ke masjid). Do they think the mesjid is a buffet restaurant? Will the buffet mesjid tradition be continued by Amanah aka Workers Party aka GHB?

I predict Amanah mesti lingkup. I don’t think rural Malays will support them. These Melayu/Muslim progressif like their Chinese counterparts look down on the rural Malay for being uneducated. See how tight PAS control is on their members. Few (or no) PAS members attended Bersei 4.

    1. ‘I predict Amanah mesti lingkup. I don’t think rural Malays will support them.’

Sebab tu la depa tak keluaq Bersih 4 and somebody dah rindu dah kat PAS sebab tu.

Dan sebab tu jugalah Anwar Ibrahim, literally, our PM in waiting, dalam penjara, that is, suruh Wan Azizah buat kenyataan yang PKR kawan dengan semua, termasuk PAS.

Sudah tahu maa, kekuatan PAS kat Melayu, akar umbi. Bukan some Melayu liberals wannabee. Dalam UMNO pun banyak!

  14. When Dr M brought up the “People Power Revolution” against Marcos (likening the late Philipines dictator to Najib), I figure the old doctor has lost the plot already. Right now, almost everything bad is being blamed on the poor PM (for one, Ringgit going south has nothing to do with him la!)

    1. True, but it’s not Tun who has lost the plot, it’s the people who are at sea, waiting for the next plot to unfold. Everything blamed on the PM, that’s the perception problem, trust deficit or whatever you want to call it. Hey, 10-0 kalah lawan UAE pun sebab Najib!

      1. re: “that’s the perception problem, trust deficit or whatever you want to call it”

It’s his own fault. He should have NEUTRALIZED the J-Star long ago instead of letting the MCA bosses sidestep accountability for the media that they own and control.

  15. I like your way of putting things in neat boxes. Najib and his 3rd leg Rosmah 😊 can be considered lame but still, for now, not out. The Opposition outside of PAS is definitely lame as their so-called national issues of 1MDB, Bersih 4.0, bringing down MO1 is going nowhere with the Malaysian public!
Dr M is doing himself a disservice… with only die-hard PKR & DAPsters supporting their leaders’ scramble to get Dr M as their coalition mascot!😂
