Umno Kota Bharu yesterday enacted “the Taoist rites of effigy-burning and setting up of an altar, complete with joss sticks and fruit offerings”. Lim Kit Siang, who was the object of the mock funeral (see below), was not amused.
Grandpapa Dapster Lim Sr is right to rebuke Umno for misrepresentation. It is doubtful that he is Taoist. Meanwhile his son Guan Eng is a Born Again Christian.

DAP is led by evangelistas
In the fellowship video below recorded in Sibu, Lim Guan Eng talked to his Christian audience about “the love of Jesus for all of us”.
He shared his inspiration “where Jesus the Lord allowed Himself to be crucified to wash away our sins”.
Guan Eng also said, “By the miracle of God, here I am and remember a phrase where He said, ‘the last shall be first and the first shall be last’ and I was in prison and now I’m the Chief Minister – not of Sarawak but of Penang – praise God, for the first shall be last and the last shall be first”.
He is drawing from a Bible verse 20:16 in the Book of Matthew.
DAP is all about political Christianity
Umno Kota Bharu is mistaken to stage Taoist funeral rites for the Lims. The most important thing that Umno must understand is that DAP is an evangelical party. It plays political Christianity in the same way that PAS parleys political Islam.
The Umno division had set alight effigies of Grandpapa and Papa Dapster in payback for the equally misplaced Chinese funeral imagery crafted for Najib Razak during Bersih 4.0. It was Umno’s retaliation against the Yellow Shirts rally shenanigans.
It was also inadvertently a maltreatment of Taoist custom considering that neither Grandpapa nor Papa Dapster are believers of Chinese folk religion.

Utusan, in its interview with the MCA Religious Harmony Bureau chairman two days ago, wrote up on the “jarum halus yang dimulakan oleh DAP yang sentiasa bermain dengan sensitiviti masyarakat Cina, kini semakin menular dan tidak terkawal”.

Ti, who is also a former Adun and present party exco, said:
“Lebih ramai orang Cina akan menyokong BN kalau Umno atau konco-konconya berhenti menyamakan puak DAP sebagai Cina. MCA mewakili dan akan cuba menjadi perantara antara masyarakat Cina dengan kerajaan. Tetapi sokongan kita daripada masyarakat Cina amatlah bergantung kepada tindak-tanduk dan polemik politik Umno.
“DAP adalah sebuah parti yang tidak mewakili masyarakat Cina tetapi mengeksploitasi sensitiviti dan sentimen masyarakat Cina. Inilah beza antara DAP dengan MCA.”
Ti Lian Ker (below) is right. Umno dan konco-konconya perlu berhenti menyamakan puak DAP dengan Cina. Sebaliknya DAP wajib diibaratkan sebagai puak evangelista.
DAP wants to create Malay tsunami
I already blogged my theory earlier. I said that the first Bersih rally in November 2007 created the impetus for the Makkal Sakti wave in the March 2008 election that swept away five states from the BN’s grasp.
Bersih’s second and third editions in 2011 and 2012 built up the momentum for the Chinese tsunami that hit our shores on 5 May 2013.
The fourth Bersih rally, I’d said, was aimed at the Malays to convince them come GE14 that Umno is morally unfit to rule the country.
Ti Lian Ker in his Utusan interview hinted at something similar. He said:
“Kita bukan sahaja risau dengan tsunami Cina tetapi ramai rakan sekolah dan universiti saya dalam grup WhatsApp sudah mulai mencabar dan mempertikai Umno dan BN. Golongan ini adalah penyokong tradisi BN.
“Saya risau kalau kita tidak bertindak cepat, pilihan raya umum akan datang akan menjadi ‘tsunami Melayu’. Tsunami Cina dan Barisan Bertindak Hak Hindu (Hindraf) sudah berlalu. Apakah undi pengundi Melayu atas pagar akan berubah memihak atau menentang kita?”

There’s a method to the Bersih madness
They purposely humiliated Najib so that Umno too will be looked at askance (dipandang jijik).
Stepping on the photo of Najib and Hadi Awang was not the worst by far of the biaDAP antics by Bersih 4.0 protesters.
And the stomping was not an isolated incident as the spinmeisters would have you believe. It was but one in a series of calculated, vicious insults that is the flavour of the month and aimed at Najib and his party. Circulated in the Malay social media were even more kurang ajar acts recorded during the latest Bersih rally.
Nonetheless, Malaysians who only read the anti-establishment propaganda sheets – and The J-Star too – would be unaware of the extent of the provocative behaviour. They were misled into thinking Bersih 4.0 smelled of roses.
Blackout of the ‘nasty’ acts and amplification of the ‘nice’ news by opposition media doing damage control is quite predictable.
We’ve seen, often enough already, how the journalist fraternity that is avowedly pro-oppo have deliberately buried or downplayed reports unfavourable to the DAP and its allies.
Bersih wants to effect regime change
Bersih is a movement out to topple the Najib administration and overthrow the regime. Slogans on the banners carried during the rally said as much.
The organizers should have rightly called their rally “Undur” or “Turun” instead of falsely advertizing its purpose as desiring free and fair elections.
Bersih chairman Maria Chin Abdullah has admitted that they’re pushing the vote of no confidence against the PM, and that if their demands are not met, they will do Bersih 5.0.
Other reasons provided to justify the rally are mere bullshit to serve as a convenient fig leaf. So why should anyone expect Umno to take this challenge sitting down like lame ducks?

DAP’s got the young eating from the palm of their hand
“DAP is not a party that represents the Chinese but they only exploit the sensitivities and sentiments of the community,” said Ti Lian Ker.
Nonetheless, the DAP managed to rub salt into the wound of long-standing Chinese dissatisfaction due to the actions of Umno Youth such as the keris brandishing at the party general assembly for three consecutive years.
Umno Youth also forced the non-Muslim cabinet ministers to withdraw their petition to the prime minister (at that time Abdullah Ahmad Badawi) over the encroachment by the authorities into the religious freedoms of the non-Islamic faiths, explained Ti.
This showed up the arrogance of Umno and the weakness of the rest of the BN component parties.
DAP created New Politics personality cults
Aside from the machinations of Tuns Mahathir and Daim that contributed to Abdullah Badawi’s disastrous showing in the 2008 polls, “DAP pula menanam perasaan benci dan memprovokasi sentimen perkauman secara bertalu-talu serta mengeksploitasi perasaan dendam mereka [pengundi Cina] terhadap isu-isu perkauman”, said Ti.
He added that the new generation Chinese are more susceptible [to hate brainwashing] due to their over-exposure to the Internet. A lot of money has been splashed to elevate handpicked DAP figures as political icons among impressionable youngsters.
Ti names Tony Pua, Hannah Yeoh and Ong Kian Ming as the faces promoted to embody the new politics of change.

“Umno pula dilakar dalam minda orang Cina sebagai satu parti rasis dan dipaparkan secara berleluasa dan viral seperti insiden sekolah-sekolah, bahasa rasis guru dan polemik politik akar umbi Umno, seakan-akan itulah satu kelumrahan Umno dan bukannya satu insiden yang terperinci.”
In the same way, “tindakan seorang dua ahli atau penyokong Umno akan diviralkan oleh DAP untuk menimbulkan rasa benci orang Cina terhadap Umno”.
That’s what the DAP evangelistas are good at. Spreading misinformation, disinformation and outright fitnah.

If MCA had any vestige of control over their media empire, they would feature this story in a big splash. After all, a quarter of the J-Star readership is Malay.
It’s clear that MCA will do nothing that is of benefit to the BN’s GE14 campaign. Thus I’m not surprised that the BN chairman say yesterday that the parties “agree to disagree” over the Red Shirts rally. The old BN consensus formula and tolak-ansur has been thrown out the window due to the MCA’s backstabbing.
You can’t blame that party entirely though. The establishment people failed to use new media to do their work, failed utterly, the defeat is now almost complete. The old media is not working especially with the younger generation. What’s more, younger people nowadays love salacious news, the stuff similar to television drama series. (1) Buddhist associations and Buddhist temples did not endorse Bersih 4.0.
The Archbishop of Kuala Lumpur was photographed in a Bersih 4.0 T-shirt and he turun padang. The churches opened their doors to the protesters, provided mobile toilet service and sold Bersih T-shirts in their compound. The pastors helped organized church groups to go.
Politics are talked about in church sermons.
(2) The Malay population is more than double the Chinese population but the Malays feel besieged.
The Chinese Buddhist population is more than double the Chinese Christian population but do you ever hear the Buddhist voices? Can you name me one prominent Buddhist politician and what he said in a temple, as opposed to Hannah Yeoh and her preaching in churches here and here?
I can name many Bishops and Reverends because they’re in the news, including the ones who took the ‘Allah’ case to court. Can any Malay reader of this blog name a prominent Buddhist monk in Malaysia?
(3) As you can see from the chart below, BN has many rural MPs (blue icons). Why is it that although Umno and pribumi rural MPs far outnumber the oppo urban MPs, yet it is the Chinese urban MPs (Yellow icons) whose voices are very loud in the public sphere, e.g. Gobind Singh, Tony Pua, Ong Kian Ming, Teresa Kok, Teo Nie Ching and of course Lim Kit Siang.
Buddhists are like the rural BN Parliamentarians – low profile. They have allowed the evangelical Christians to lead. This is their own undoing which they will deeply regret.
I listed Gobind above. He’s not Chinese. But he’s not regarded as ‘Indian’ either. He and his family are royalty in the DAP.

An excellent summary of our political situation today – I concur with your observation.
I believe there is a way to achieve both objectives and both bumis and non-bumis are generally reasonable people.
As an Indian, it is easy for me to see both perspectives (Chinese and Malay) and I don’t disagree with their aspirations.
The problem today is that the political parties have used the perceived injustice (Chinese) / unfair economic advantage (Malays) to stir up the emotions of the communities in order to win votes. UMNO, being a race-based party does this in the name of protecting the interests of Malays. DAP on the other hand, pretends to be multi-racial but uses social injustice to whip the Chinese anger toward the Malays and BN. In this sense both are guilty of racialization of politics.
However much of the ethnic disunity we have today is due to the aggressive and divisive tactics of DAP which have perfected the art of agitation by continuously accuse Malays/UMNO of discriminating the non Malays and non Muslims. If you ask a typical PR non Malay supporter why he/she opposes BN, the real answer is because of the perceived injustice by the Malays. For them UMNO/BN stands for Malays and MCA/MIC are merely tools of the Malays.
On the other hand, they will vote a Malay PAS/PKR candidates because this Malay is merely a proxy for DAP.
While UMNO does promote ethnic-based politics, these are more to provide protection and assuage the concerns of the Malays/Muslim. It is a security guard at the school who takes care of the security and safety of the school kids.
On the other hand, DAP does not intend to protect the Chinese / non bumis but act more like an enforcer of Ah Longs or car re-possessors who are willing to use any tactics to take back what is rightfully belonging to their bosses.

After the end of the Cold War (1948-1989) Uncle Sam came up with the hegemonic spiel, “Globalization, Free Trade, Human Rights.” in a multi-polar World. These are anathema to the practices of Singapore which indulged in the Cold War bi-polar World period in money laundering, arms trading, smuggling, breaking sanctions -Myanmar, North Korea etc. From 1990-2000, the Dictator was caught with his pants down when suddenly, Singapore was hit by a recession and unemployment after the Dot.com boom of 2000. His dysfunctional elites proposed 2 casino licences and the TPPA. The former for immediate expediency and the latter, to ensnare Malaysia as the LIEBENSRAUM and legacy of the Dictator. The 2 casinos have since failed. The legal and money minded Dictator established the International Trade Arbitration Centre in Singapore in 2005 in anticipation of the launch of the TPPA in 2006 and to catch the Malaysians who always forgot to dot the i’s and cross the t’s like the 1962 Water Agreement. We now pay Singapore to deliver free water because of the depreciation of the Ringgit ! The TPPA was launched in 2006 with only Brunei, New Zealand and Chile as members. After the Crash of October 2008. Uncle Sam was ready to grasp at any straw in the international ocean of financial turmoil. The Donkey (Democrats) took over the leadership with the little red ant riding its back ! You may recall that the Dictator paid a visit to the Ulus in June 2009 at the age of 85 to hector his digits and cohorts ! I eventually surmised that he came in with the US approved TPPA in his pocket. Thereafter, Malaysia huddled secretly for 19 secret negotiations until its exposure in 2013 ! The TPPA does not benefit Malaysia because it forces open the tariff barriers to permit the flood of goods from Singapore. The other countries are thousands of miles away. The goods will make our factories and owners bankrupt and workers become unemployed. Malaysia main revenue earners are petroleum and palm oil. FTZ factories are all foreign owned. Chaos will reign. The BN will lose the next General Elections. The Malaysians are forced once again to be only consumers of goods made by foreigners. And the Malaysian Chinese revert back to the colonial age when they were distributors of imported goods which are now from Singapore and financed by Singapore. We become a colony of Singapore. If we sign the TPPA, the Malays will die like the Red Indians of North America. They signed. They died without a whimper. The non-Malays worse because they have no power to sign their own death warrant.
Singapore would have gained LIEBENSRAUM and the Dictator’s legacy assured. IF MALAYSIA DOES NOT SIGN THE TPPA, then, within 25 years or less, Singapore has to consider 5 Options :-
1. Merge with the United States as the 53rd state of the Union. We may say ‘Selamat Pagi, Amerika’ across the monsoon drain with a chain linked fence what used to be the venerable Johor Straits !
2. Become a British Colony again. Even the Scots want out.
3. Confederate with Scotland to form a super-kiasu Confederation of Scotsmen and Chinamen with a Jewish President.
4. Re-merge with Malaysia. But the ancients forbid because a good horse does not return to old pastures.
5. Maintain status quo with an Indian Prime Minister and the highest cost of living in the World and a humongous lend-lease foreign manned military against neighbours who love to play 19 holes of golf daily and will never defend their Sovereignty, National Interest, Self-esteem.
