Sometimes Najib needs to punch

Sometimes When We Touch is an evergreen song so popular that it has been covered by a host of famous artistes.

These include the gravel-voiced Rod Stewart, the gruff Bonnie Tyler, crooners Barry Manilow and Engelbert Humperdinck, rocker Tina Turner, country singer Tammy Wynette, pop singers Andy Gibb (in a duet with Marie Osmond), Donny Osmond and many others.

However the cover best liked by Dan Hill, who’s the original singer and co-writer of the 1977 ballad, is the version sung by Manny Pacquiao.

Pacquiao is a famous boxer and second-term congressman in the Philippine House of Representatives.

Sometimes when we touch

Sometimes When We Touch is the Filipino superstar‘s favourite song and in 2011, he cut a single – see video above – with vocal coaching by Dan Hill himself.

Hill said he was impressed by the “honesty of Pacquiao‘s performance”. The record producer also chipped on how the boxer’s delivery of the song came straight from the heart … yeah, like a lethal left hook.

Pacquiao‘s Filipino accent and pronunciation actually gives this familiar song a distinctive and disarming air. (Filipino babies learn to sing before they learn to talk.)

Below are some lines from the song Sometimes When We Touch. The lyrics are strangely apposite for Pacquiao considering it’s a real-life world boxing champ that we hear singing.

manny hesitant prize fighter

manny hard you try

manny break you

manny hurt you honestly

manny i wanna hold you

Below are the full lyrics to the song; my favourite lines are in bold red

SOMETIMES WHEN WE TOUCH

You ask me if I love you
And I choke on my reply
I’d rather hurt you honestly
Than mislead you with a lie

And who am I to judge you
In what you say or do
I’m only just beginning
To see the real you

[Chorus]

And sometimes when we touch
The honesty’s too much
And I have to close my eyes
And hide
I want to hold you till I die
Till we both break down and cry
I want to hold you till the fear in me subsides

Romance and all its strategy
Leaves me battling with my pride
But through the insecurity
Some tenderness survives
I’m just another writer
Still trapped within my truth
A hesitant prize-fighter
Still trapped within my youth

[Chorus]

At times I’d like to break you
And drive you to your knees
At times I’d like to break through
And hold you endlessly
At times I understand you
And I know how hard you try
I’ve watched while love commands you
And I’ve watched love pass you by
At times I think we’re drifters
Still searching for a friend
A brother or a sister
But then the passion flares again

Original singer-songwriter Dan Hill is the older man singing harmony with Manny Pacquiao (below).

Sometimes when we touch

This is the three-cornered ‘love’ story

  • MCA is disloyal despite that the Umno president has tried so hard already
    .
  • MCA has chosen to side with DAP-opposition rather than with Umno-BN
    .
  • Najib needs to be honest and tell MCA the truth – the Chinese party has to go because their broken relationship can no longer be mended.
    .
  • Although the BN chairman may be hesitant but nonetheless he has leave the past behind. There is no choice but to fight for the future
    .
  • The only way for Najib to regain Malay support is to be a war general. The Red Shirt vs Yellow Shirt rallies attest to this. We’re at war!

BUGIS WARRIOR BONUS TRACK

This is war

THIS IS WAR

It’s the moment of truth
and the moment to lie
The moment to live
and the moment to die

The moment to fight
the moment to fight

To fight, to fight, to fight!

To the right, To the left
We will fight to the death

To the edge of the earth
From the last to the first
It’s a brave new world
It’s a brave new world!

  1. I am looking at MCA’s pathetic statements and responses on the Red Shirt rally and wondering if they have lost the plot completely. These are some small time kucing kurap leaders even dare to cut ties with Najib for supporting the Red shirt rally.

It is time for them to self reflect and take a hard look at themselves. The knee jerk reaction of MCA shows that the party has become a joke.

I always maintained that the Chinese are sleeping with DAP while married to MCA. They use MCA to make demands to the government and get financial aids and rewards while give their body and soul (and votes) to DAP.

The result of GE13 should have been a wake up call for MCA but they did not and stayed comatose post-GE. Then the Yellow Shirt rally should have been the final nail in the coffin yet they still slumbered on. Now with the Red Shirt rally they suddenly woke up and bleating about racial politics.

They should instead wake up and turn to the Chinese and say, ” You want us to fight for you ? Then vote for us first and then we talk. You spit on us and said we don’t need race-based parties. You voted for DAP en masse. If you want us to bring the concerns of the community you need give us the mandate. Without mandate we have no standing. Otherwise please contact Mr Lim Kit Siang to do the fighting for you.”

    1. re: “These are some small time kucing kurap leaders even dare to cut ties with Najib for supporting the Red shirt rally.”

      Rank insubordination.

re: “… ‘You want us to fight for you? Then vote for us first and then we talk. You spit on us and said we don’t need race-based parties. You voted for DAP en masse’.”

Yup. Since 90 percent of the Chinese votes went to the DAP, then the voice of the Chinese is represented by the DAP.

What is the point of MCA wailing like a banshee? After a slap on the right cheek with with Tsunami 1.0 and followed by another slap on the left cheek with with Tsunami 2.0, why in the would would Umno feel inclined to give the time of day to MCA?

  2. Kak Helen,

I think that contrary to your initial view and of many of us, Najib has proven to be a far more ruthless war general than we all thought. Look at the way he dealt with the AG, MACC and the PAC. That took some b****!! And you can see now, he is starting to flex some muscle. He is standing with the red shirts despite whatever everybody says. Most polticians would have tried to skirt the issue fearing alienating the pendatangs. Personally, I think you are going to see a lot more interesting moves. Najib understands that too be trueful powerful and feared, you must show that you will apply force. This makes your opponent weary. If you apply too much force all the time, you back your opponent into a corner and he has no choice but to fight. I think Najib is a lot shrewder than we all give him credit for. Hidup Melayu!!

    1. Hai, Najib masih ada ramai pejuang2 lama to assist him from home.

His mum and aunty kan dua dua mereka isteri kepada dua bekas Perdana Menteri. Selok belok MCA dan Lim Kit Siang tu pasti semua depa tau belaka.

    2. Bagi pendapat saya elok saja Najib let them be. Kalau tidak payah nak weed out saki baki talam2 dua muka tu. Masih ada 2years plus to GE14.

Slowly but surely sorang2 akan tunjuk belang2 mereka. Macam Red Shirts baru2 ni, nah…terang2 they lashed out.

Apa salahnya haritu MCA instead of the Police man those areas yang Red Shirts tak diberi izin masuk? They should have been there untuk mengalu-alukan kedatangan Red Shirts masuk kawasan tu. Masa Low Yat incidence dulu kan the management of Low Yat Plaza plan to organise a Raya gathering? Apahal tiba2 16 Sep 2015 kawasan tu tak bagi Melayu masuk pulak?

      Haiyaaaaa

  3. KJ already voiced his opinion that MCA should quit from BN. I wonder if Najib can survive vote of no confidence if it is passed this October without support from MCA MPs?

    1. PAS has 14 MPs who cannot be safely counted upon to vote with DAP-PKR-Amanah.

Najib dan Haron Din nampak kam cheng. Tuan Guru Hadi juga kelihatan cenderong kepada Najib.

  4. The father of all DAP dogs aka Tokong Lim had started mass culling of dogs in Penang just because a few are sick and this father of all dogs had culled all opposing DAP dogs and was very successful in culling UMNO dogs (tag given to MCA by DAP) for years. He is also playing sympathy cards in culling dogs when dog lovers pleaded to him to stop.

After so many years and so much damages had been done to religious and racial polarization, then only Najib woke up and that only with the incessant attack of Tun combining with Pakatan.

Sorry Najib, you are too late and polite to be an effective politician. You, like Koh Soo Koon (former CM of Penang) are too goody goody. Both can only take punches, but do not know how to counter punch effectively ending with blue black all over their faces and bodies.

To deal with those “DAP evangelistic sneaky bastards” (phrase borrowed from Helen), we need politicians who can and must counter punch effectively and to give a killer punch at every opportunity.

    1. The Lim family is just waiting to “cull” Najib and UMNO. FULL STOP.

Soalan: Namakan kawasan di Pulau Pinang di mana Penyakit Anjing Gila berleluasa.
      Jawapan: KOMTAR Tingkat 28

      1. Betul tu Mulan.

Najib has to start culling some limp BN MPs who got there thru “tongkats” courtesy of the Melayus.

Pehaps Najib is still floating in the clouds, his admiration for those who wanted to bring him down. Somebody should help him put his feet deeply planted on the ground.

And his support for the Red Shirt rally? Politically motivated and sincerety is suspected.

And Equalizer, I totally agree with you

    2. And I suppose that the outbreak of rabies was conjured out of thin air? And that it is an airborne virus that causes rabies and not the bite of an infected (rabid) dog?

It is interesting to ask what is the scientific basis for this?

Why aren’t you equally condemnatory about irresponsible humans who abandon dogs and force them to fend for themselves? Where are the dog lovers who overlook this?

And who was “dog zero” in this current rabies outbreak? You know, like patient zero in the MERS virus outbreak?

I suggest you rethink your arguments because all you have done is made yourself look silly.

Which, come to think of it, might not be too big an accomplishment!

        1. So, we don’t kill rats (of the animal variety) because they can spread leptospirosis?

And it is “rabies”, not “rabbies”(sic). Just in case you didn’t know.

I suggest you rethink your arguments because all you have done is made(sic) yourself look silly.

Just ask any epidemiologist or virologist!

          That also you dunno, ah?

“Those whom the gods would destroy, they first make mad.” – a line credited to ancient Greek dramatist Euripides.

The behaviour of some Penangites is touched by fey.

  5. To punch, yea.

If you know the function of the U.S. Grand Jury and its system, you would probably ask Najib to do more than to just punch.

And let’s not forget about the FBI probe, too. It’s different from US Grand Jury.

May be The Beatles’ “RUN FOR YOUR LIFE” is a more appropriate song for Najib now?

Oh, but Zeti said that in this world now there’s really nowhere you can hide.

But the image of a Bugis Worrior cannot die, can it? There must be a punching bag, of course.

Malaysian Chinese, DAP, Gerakan, MCA, DongZong, whatever you name it. But bullying these people might not look good on a Bugis Warrior. So the creation of imaginary threats on bangsa agama and Negara, and to make the imaginary threat so much larger than life.

    That’s so disgusting.

Let’s predict. Soon there will be some protest in front of the KL US Embassy. Jamal can do his ikan bakar tricks there.

    1. re: “If you know the function of the U.S. Grand Jury and its system, you would probably ask Najib to do more than to just punch.”

The last that anyone of us knows, Najib is not an American citizen.

Here is the official web page on the powers and functions of the US grand jury. Unless I missed reading it, I do not see where it states the American government has jurisdiction over a foreign national.

But anyway, since you imply that the you know better the function of the U.S. grand jury and its system, why don’t you enlighten us?

re: “And let’s not forget about the FBI probe, too. It’s different from US Grand Jury.”

A probe on 1MDB transactions going through American banks is not the same as a probe on Najib.

What further details do you have other than parroting Tun that Najib could be arrested when abroad? It seems like Tun is bamboozling again because Najib enjoys diplomatic immunity and he is hardly president Omar al-Bashir (alleged to be responsible for massacres) who warrants international arrest.

re: “May be The Beatles’ “RUN FOR YOUR LIFE” is a more appropriate song for Najib now?”

Perhaps Another Brick In The Wall (Part 2) is the appropriate song for the Najib detractors. Cideo here. Start watching from minute 4:00 and pay particular attention to 4:16.

re: “Oh, but Zeti said that in this world now there’s really nowhere you can hide.’

The rumour mongers also said Zeti was in hospital with a heart attack.

re: “But the image of a Bugis Worrior cannot die, can it? There must be a punching bag, of course. Malaysian Chinese, DAP, Gerakan, MCA, DongZong, whatever you name it.”

Actually it is Najib that has been made the punching bag. During Bersih 4.0, the Yellow Shirts plastered a caricature of his face on a punching bag(s) and in the pix below, they’re kicking it/’him’.

      null

re: “But bullying these people might not look good on a Bugis Warrior. So the creation of imaginary threats on bangsa agama and Negara, and to make the imaginary threat so much larger than life.”

Right, the threat of toppling the Najib administration is ‘imaginary’ despite the claim of of half a million (500,000) Bersih participants flooding the streets.

And all the accusations that the oppo throw at Najib and his wife are oh so real. But sometimes they’re “just jokes” like Rafizi claimed in defence after being slapped with a libel suit for saying Rosmah bought an RM24 million diamond ring.

      re: “That’s so disgusting.”

      The opposition is despicable.

re: “Let’s predict. Soon there will be some protest in front of the KL US Embassy. Jamal can do his ikan bakar tricks there.”

The protest will probably be in front of Komtar, Penang on Oct 10. You probably correct to predict that it will be led by Jamal Sekinchan.

      1. “The protest will probably be in front of Komtar, Penang on Oct 10.”

This is not the only protest. Adolph LGE’s has other enemies too i.e dog lovers – who are predominantly Chinese educated. Note the Chinese papers are highlighting.

        OK some good news.

“Free Malaysia Today, Sep 22: International NGO Worldwide Veterinary Services (WVS) is ready to supply 50,000 vaccines at any time to Penang for free to cover all pets and stray dogs and assist with manpower to fully conduct mass vaccinations.”

But guess what Tokong got to say to the donors.

“Just saw this news from Sinchew daily. CM Lim Guan Eng says those international experts from WVS Mision Rabies WHO are “路邊”專家. I am very disappointed and speechlees

        Quoted from Tan Yew Meng

Yes, I am speechless too.. WHO, WVS, Mission Rabies are not the real experts? What a shame and brainless speech!

        难道就只有我国的兽医局是专家,笑死我了!

        news.sinchew.com.my/node/444562”

Isn’t it time for UndurTokongKejam ! Everybody hates him!

      2. I think that a federal grand jury in the US can investigate if a foreign national has committed a crime in the US – a crime that can be prosecuted in the US under US laws.

Let’s also not forget that the US Justice Department has a different interpretation about the “extraterritorial” reach of US laws.

  6. Today is the launching of an event of importance by the Star and of course the person responsible for it is non other than Wong CH himself. It is to promote the cause of moderation and unity.

“We need to reach out to the Malay audience, who make up some 70% of the people in the country. We need to talk about ways to forge national unity and go on a social media campaign using Bahasa Malaysia, to reach out to them”, according to Wong CH.

This effort is an anti-thesis to the RBAs modus operandi however with the same intention; preparing psyche-war for PRU14 on behalf of DAP.

With RBAs having reach it’s saturation-level of penetration within the Cina community it is now time to penetrate the Islam Melayu community.

Nice packaging though. It is done again via the “moderation and unity” slogan.

PRU14 shall see another interesting twist in the human micro-organism communication attack strategy. RBAs will be the thing of yester-election. We shall now be able to put faces to the communication-monitor driven by media practitioners, activist, icon be it from sport or entertainment industry etc.

DAP is ready and have all the infra in place – the others have not even notice the announcement let alone having the capability to intervene and counter it!

  7. Ms H. Let us all say ” NO NEED TO PUNCH, MR PRIME MINISTER.” Let us all unite with you, the Red, the Yellow, the Green, and the Blue Shirts etc to request the Federal Government to requisition the 8 idle jets, the spare military aircraft, the warships, the 2 submarines and other transport to ferry the Afghan, Iraqi, Syrians etc refugees direct from Lebanon and Turkey to Germany IN THE NAME OF HUMANITY. The cold Winter winds are beginning to blow. Let 1MDB provide the leadership to redeem themselves as it is said there is RM50 Billions in the kitty ! It’s not the MONEY. It’s our COMPASSION !

  8. Breaking news:
Now Tokong Adolph Lim says the photos about the dog killing atrocities are lies.
“Pls don’t lie. These r not pics from Pg.”

Wait, first BN politicised the culling, then it was the advice of the government officials and now the atrocities are lies.

Actually it seems like the Lim Dynasty is being culled, (His slow culling of Ajib-ko is so slow,
Let’s recap what the Tokong did.
    1. Overseas donors wanted to help. Tokong rejected the help.
    2. Continue to Kill.
    3. Then Karpal’s nephew protested i and was fired from Malaysia Insider.
    4. Adolph blames BN for politicising.
    5. Adolph says the government officials advised his to kill.
    6. Adolph says he did the killing for the good of Penang. He sacrificed his future votes for love.
    7. His Miss Yap disagreed culling is the way to go.
    8. Another set of donors want to give visit. Adolph called the vets STUPID.
    8. Now the photos are hoaxes. Hmmm.

Doesn’t this seem like Adolph’s career is quite over?

Sad news: The killing now moves to Farlim. There cries from the dogs.
