Tun says M’sia is now “pariah state”

Tun has become the Dapsters’ new BFF.

He is being loudly cheered on by them of late. Very soon, Tun Dr Mahathir will overtake his daughter Marina in popularity among the Bangsar Malaysia crowd.

That's Tian Chua behind Siti Hasmah
That’s Tian Chua behind Siti Hasmah

Yesterday, Dr M blogged ‘1 MDB cleared’ in Chedet.

He wrote:

“In the eyes of the world Malaysia has become a pariah state, a state where anyone can be hauled up and questioned by the police, detained and charged through abusing the laws of the country.”

The ex-premier is referring to the arrest under Sosma of his former pol-sec Matthias Chang and Matthias’ fellow globetrotter Khairuddin Abu Hassan.

Very ‘nice’ of Tun to call my country a “pariah state”. Does the Chedet fan club agree with his label?

  1. No were the days tears in haven is unjust for a friend and when they become enemies bunga yang di berikan di balas dengan tahi najib successfully beats two birds with one stone and left no more stone to hit with the dapsters cheers

  2. Did you know your sneaky Star has tried to hide the stop kill dogs order and tuck it in page 23? 2000 plus dogs have been killed and hushed. Nothing was in the Metro, only stories of green Armenian Park.

Page 1 is about kids in jungle, other pages lost kid wants fried chicken, fitness etc.
Is it because of certain person’s idol has been defeated? Did you find it strange the stop kill order was after the brutal killing of the mother dog which I highlighted?

There were petitions signed at Farlim (where the dog was killed). If you remember Farlim was where the notorious PPS brawl happened. There was also invitations to have rallies to protest the killing. The rally would be Bersih sized. This person knows if he does not stop, he would ranked with his Christmas selfie buddy as the next most hated person in Penang and perhaps Malaysia.

Mulan now wants to ask for a public inquiry to the tragedy. If the dear leaders loves his CAT… then I want to have Accountability and Transparency.
Mulan also noticed that the paper used in Bulletin Mutiara and the Star are quite absorbent. I will continue to buy the Star and collect Bulletin Mutiara to wrap my doggie’s poop as they are super absorbent.

    1. What’s all this got to do with Dr Mahathir & the “pariah state” remarks?

Not a fan of “relevance”, are you?

        1. Here is the relevance
          1. LGE is no longer the god like creature in areas that most support him. Doggate has made him the villain that is 200 times bigger than Koh Tsu Koon. In fact many have pledged not to vote for him. People curse him online and the Chinese papers can’t wait to criticise him. If he continues to make his usual noises, DAP will sink. DAP should look for a new leader outside the Lim family to sustain the election time popularity – ****** 1

          2. Singapore is distancing themselves from the DAP especially the Tony gang. Singapore cannot sustain themselves having bad relations with Malay – especially the leadership is Malay. That is why the “delusional ” exchange – ****** 2

          3. Tun M is no longer the all powerful leader among the Malays. His antics at Bersih 4.0 has brought some to actually dislike him. From the Mamakutty that the Pakatoons hate, he becomes their sudden hero. Proof Kapsul with the Tun M cameo is the biggest flop of the year.
          http://asas2020.blogspot.my/2015/10/kapsul-filem-melayu-paling-tak-laku.html

          1. pity much of yr response is still irrelevant, macam mana nak educate a mul(e)…an ah? I comment a bit that part related to mahathir, he used to be a statesman to some n now a nyanyuk one according to the same some, so what, exactly, is yr point?

u continue to talk dog n lge la, that’s perhaps one of the few logical thing u ever said, albeit off topic n as usual, irrelevant.

            1. For all Bloggers, except jealous HY and his old lady. An independent opinion by one of Mother India’s important journalists in his Blogspot June 2010.
” The West has spread the impression that Singapore’s Lee Kuan Yew is Asia’s outstanding economic miracle man while Malaysia’s Mahathir as a cantankerous ogre, hater of white people, and dictator to boot. Both are dressed up portraits. What makes Mahathir SPECIAL is that while pursuing economic progress, he never lost sight of the larger picture of human values. That cannot be said of Lee Kuan Yew and certainly not of Indonesia’s Suharto or Thailand’s Thaksin Shinawatra.”

              1. Ms H, The famous journalist from Mother India is TJS George who has dedicated his life to fightiing corruption, social chaos etc. A fine and genuine gentleman of India. In 1973, he published ‘Lee Kuan Yew’s Singapore’ in which he highlighted the Ruler’s shenanigans at that early date.

          1. uncle, thanks for the update. now tell us mahathir is right or wrong to say msia is a pariah state? u must learn how to stick to topic n not used every ha piece as a jumping board for your pet topics. or u r too old to learn? like that no good leh.

  3. Helen – I take it that you disagreed that Malaysia is now a pariah state as claimed by Dr M. Why?

Do you think SOSMA is as bad as ISA, or even badder?

I always supported ISA and its predecessor SOSMA, only when it is being used to deal with TERRORISTS, local or overseas, and threats to the security of the country.

Surely the two orang suruhan DrM are not terrorists to me. They only pose threats to Najib’s position as a PM of the country, and not threats to the stability of the country.

    1. Re: “Helen – I take it that you disagreed that Malaysia is now a pariah state as claimed by Dr M. Why?”

‘Pariah’ is a harsh word. The Indians – you remember, my Hindraf friends :) – are very sensitive to it. I really can’t think of any countries in the world that are called a “pariah state” except Israel which some people view as such.

I do not think someone of Tun’s stature should race us to the bottom whether it is “failed state” or “basket case”. That’s the vocabulary of the opposition.

re: “Do you think SOSMA is as bad as ISA, or even badder?”

Dunno. I take note of the Sedition Act but I don’t pay attention to Sosma because it’s not possibile that I will ever be charged for terrorism.

re: “Surely the two orang suruhan DrM are not terrorists to me. They only pose threats to Najib’s position as a PM of the country, and not threats to the stability of the country.”

Is the threat to Parliamentary democracy under Sosma, by any chance?

      1. Helen,

Malaysia may not be the best country to live in this world. But certainly it is not a “pariah” state.

No doubt we have big problems here. I am worried with liberal immigration policy that makes Malaysia attractive to crooks, criminals. And I am not happy when Dr Zahid announced Malaysia will take another 1.5 million Bangladeshi workers. This move will certainly deprive locals from getting decent jobs.

I am not happy with move to allow foreigners to buy houses here. I heard one condo in Sg Petani is filled with Koreans. I am sure locals are not happy with it. The price of houses are mind boggling.

I am upset that Najib being too apologetic and trying so hard to please the very race(Chinese) who wants him, UMNO buried. I am angry that Tun keeps attacking Najib to the point that it destroys the Malay political base: the only bargaining power that Malays have

The list can go on and on. Why on earth police are so lenient towards racist DAP.

But certainly we are not a failed state. NOT YET

  4. To understand the background of Dr. Mahathir’s recent comments on why the present state of the nation under Mr. Najib’s administration is far from keeping to the high standards of Malaysia’s Islamic governance, we must look at the structure of such governance, wherein the building of sound and strong public institutions are vital to the working system.

  5. Ya, i think now oredi double pariah state dah. Nak pi conference abroad pun pikir 2x. Hard to keep chin up overseas now unlike in last decade.

    1. I am sure you have flush toilets at home? Mungkin tiga mangkuk.

Anak2 you dok pi berak tepi2 lorong ke?

      1. mca8481 talk nonsense, where got double pariah, msia r still only single pariah, mahathir say one, shd not be mistake.

  6. TDM dah berumur. I pray jangan ada yang ambil kesempatan due to his age.

The late President Reagen suffered from Alzheimer’s disease. There was also speculation over “how long” Reagan had demonstrated symptoms of mental degeneration.

TDM is against BRIM. To the very poors this gesture telah menyentuh hati mereka. Walaupun sedikit RM600 – 900 dapat juga meraka merasa. Sama juga bila kita agihkan daging korban. Walaupun setahun dapat bahagian sekadar 500gm sorang mereka terima dengan rasa penuh kesyukuran.

One man in his 50’s from my kampung commented that during TDM’s term anak2 dia used one same school shoes sampai koyak rabak, financially he just cannot afford. Anak ramai, 8orang.

Alhamdulillah with the BRIM he reserved the fund to ensure his kids get fresh new pairs of shoes each year to school.

Banyak kemudahan2 sekarang telah sampai kepada golongan2 miskin. Take kemudahan2 perubatan. Klinik penuh tiap hari dengan layanan mesra sekali one need to pay only RM1.

    1. re: “TDM dah berumur. I pray jangan ada yang ambil kesempatan due to his age.”

He attended that liberal(?) function where the MC persuaded him to sing John Lennon’s Imagine.

I do not think that Tun was making any kind of political statement or even that he was channeling (the meaning of) the song but still, by attending certain kind of events – like Bersih and other opposition functions – he has allowed himself to be put in a spot by the organizers.

  7. Imagine there’s no heaven
    It’s easy if you try
    No hell below us
    Above us only sky
Imagine all the people living for today

    Imagine there’s no countries
    It isn’t hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
    And no religion too
Imagine all the people living life in peace

Payah la kalau ramai dillusional macam ni.

      1. My family semua race ade by marriage. Cina, India, Irish, Nepal, Pakistani, Jap, Indon, Iranian dan 3yrs ago baru dapat nephew in-law from Zambia. Kalau racist macam mana nak kawin dengan bangsa2 lain?

Pasti hang tu dok kitar dalam kelompok Apek aje memanjang. Asalkan otak oghang lain dari kamu, semua RACIST?

          1. Tu la. Get out of your coconut shells belajar bercampoq sikit. Dah lama Merdeka tau, sampai bila tak sembuh2 lagi from your culture shock.

Hang bukan dok di negara China lagi tau, ini Malaysia dan rakyat berbilang bangsa. UBAH jangan tak UBAH minda.. mix freely with other races so hang takde masa nak fikiaq2 pasai RACIST memanjang.

            1. can oso agree, I always have great respect to those that married one not of his/her race, like hannah yeoh.

          2. Of course she’s very much far from being the Hannah Yeoh type, pleazze.. I doubt anyone wants to be like her for her piggy bank image.

            1. i am not talking abt image n look, n i am not interested to know whether rina look like pig or camel. her defend of her non racism attitude is mix marriage, can I therefore assert hannan is not racist. lu tahu baca tak?

              1. “n i am not interested to know whether rina look like pig or camel.”

That is being very rude and racist. You should not suggest that people inquire whether Rina (who is a Muslim BTW) looks like a pig or a camel.

      2. Racist is an out-dated word. It has been overly used until it becomes a cliche’ And the meaning is wrongly manipulated to suit one;s own whims and fancies. How could ‘defending one’s own right’ be termed as racist. Get your facts right before you utter accusing insinuation

        1. i think one who opine a song that talk abt no divide as delusional that would cause difficulty is somehow racist. my guess could be wrong.

I don’t know racist is an out-dated word, perhaps u can tell me more. if it make u feel better that msian merely manipulate the word racist to suit one whim n fancy when it come to race, n no racism at all, i am happy for u.

defending one’s own right is a too general statement, u have to specific what right u r talking abt. but here we r talking jl imagine n its lyric, i am not ready to talk fact yet, but u r welcome to proceed with yr fact if u have any. ok?

  8. Sadly the Tun is condemning the current government for doing many of the same things his government did all those years ago. As his nephew Ahmad Hussein recently said, someone may have approached the Tun from the civil societies side with some very revealing information about his own past…………..he is now one of them.

    1. Re: someone may have approached the Tun from the civil societies side with some very revealing information about his own past.

I can think of no other motivation or rationale for TDM’s behavior now.

He’s a disgrace to his own legacy.

  9. Ms H and all my friends only. Please read Bilahari Kausikan’s opinion in the Singapore Straits Times 6 October 2015. He categorically stated that the young Chinese are DELUSIONAL and will NEVER ACHIEVE POLITICAL POWER IN MALAYSIA. And look at the political mess these syncophants have created for NO reason at all. As I said before they don’t last. Even PAP Singapore says so !

  10. Your last line seems like calling out to me to answer. After all I admittedly admire the old man. Don’t believe he is senile yet. And just because he is the most hated person among the PM’s fans does not negate his contributions to the country.

TDM defined his statement that we are a pariah nation based on “a state where anyone can be hauled up and questioned by the police, detained and charged through abusing the laws of the country”. It is not a general statement; it is qualified.

Now, Canada comes up with a list of pariah nations each year : http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/canada-day-2014-what-pariah-states-made-ottawa-s-do-not-invite-list-1.2691588
Even Taiwan and Russia made that list, based on Canada’s criteria.

The most commonly agreed on pariah state is North Korea. This book is an interesting read on pariah states. http://www.mepc.org/journal/middle-east-policy-archives/pariah-states-and-sanctions-case-syria

So, “pariah state” status will depend on the country that is evaluating our nation and maybe Tun is right and we have been judged pariah by some countries in the world based on the definition provided by Tun. Now if any country were to actually make that declaration we’ll be in deep(er) shit.

    1. Granted, point on North Korea, which I overlooked. However, I don’t think it’s fair for Taiwan to be tagged a “pariah state”.

re: “And just because he is the most hated person among the PM’s fans does not negate his contributions to the country.”

      (1) Tun would have been better to let sleeping dogs lie. Lim Kok Wing is correct to predict that his legacy will be tarnished. For example, it’s now being dug up that he gave those lopsided IPP contracts to his cronies like YTL and Ananda.

Tun lives in a glass house (his sons are billionaires). He’s throwing stones. Not wise.

      (2) “the most hated person” – people who used to idolize him are turning away – check out http://wzwh.blogspot.my/2015/10/endgame-mahathir-dari-politikus-genius.html

It’s his own current actions that are alienating astute political observers – I mean WZWH.

And people (i.e. Dapsters) who used to hate his guts are now Tun’s most ardent supporters.

      (3) Unless one is a direct employee of Najib or a beneficiary in some way, I really don’t think that those – esp. Malays – who are currently critical of Tun (or who refrain from bashing Najib) are “the PM’s fans”. Certainly not devotees in the mould of the HY cult following who gush over Madame.

Take Shamshul Anuar’s comment @ 2015/10/10 at 1:21 pm, “I am angry that Tun keeps attacking Najib to the point that it destroys the Malay political base: the only bargaining power that Malays have”.

(SA can correct me if I’m wrong but I don’t see him as a fan of the PM.)

re: “TDM defined his statement that we are a pariah nation based on ‘a state where anyone can be hauled up and questioned by the police, detained and charged through abusing the laws of the country’. It is not a general statement; it is qualified.

That’s what a legion of critics used to say about Tun’s own rule – that people were so afraid of ISA to the extent that they believed walls had ears.

I’m not endorsing TKC’s views but he has a lot of Dapster fans, meaning he channels their angst. Anyway, excerpt below of his interview in FMT today @ http://www.freemalaysiatoday.com/category/opinion/2015/10/10/kee-thuan-chye-impassioned-not-angry/

“… I wrote a play. I wrote 1984 Here and Now. He was Big Brother. And it’s something that millenials and Gen-Ys don’t quite understand when they lionise him. These people are too young to understand what we went through: the culture of fear, the Big Brother-ism. They should be; take note of all the damage that was done. Mahathir set the foundation for Najib.”

re: “…maybe Tun is right and we have been judged pariah by some countries in the world based on the definition provided by Tun. Now if any country were to actually make that declaration …”

The point is no country has evaluated us as a “pariah state” as Tun claims. He also claimed that Najib would be arrested by Interpol if the PM should step out of M’sia.

By introducing the term “pariah state” and attaching it to Malaysia, Tun has prompted the Dapsters to follow suit and echo him. So in essence, Tun is leading the pack to badmouth our country.

If you look at the readers comments in the usual suspect sites (mKini et al), you’ll see the usual bunch of whiners gleefully latch on and parrot Tun. Something like the @hannahyeoh comment below:

      1. Helen,

For quite some time people entertain Tun’s ideas and suggestions and criticisms.

I read what Tun wrote. and I must say I agree to quite a number of Tun’s accusation.

But I must say that I feel Tun sometimes exaggerates. 1MDB is no doubt not all rosy. But it is certainly not a gone case for Malaysia.

Tun continue to attack and attack and this affects UMNO to its core. Tun better remember if UMNO goes down, so does Mukhriz . And he too will be hauled to court not necessarily because of his guilt but because he is prosecuted to make UMNO looks bad.

  11. Aiyoh, we all had become “pariah” overnight living in a “pariah state”. Just one question:-

WHO IS THE FATHER OF ALL PARIAH ???

    1. kita ada bapa kemerdekaan, bapa pembangunan, bapa perpaduan, bapa pemodenan (dan penswastaan), bapa demokrasi.

ko pegi tanya mahathir siapa tu bapa pariah la.

  12. “In the eyes of the world Malaysia has become a pariah state, a state where anyone can be hauled up and questioned by the police, detained and charged through abusing the laws of the country.”

Pot calling kettle black. If like that, we have long been Pariah state. It is only matter of perspective. I hate you, Malaysia Pariah. I like you, Malaysia good.

ChedeTDM does not mind playing propaganda since most young people might not remember/ too young to remember the ‘good old days’. If PR/ PH fans could forget the brouhaha of IPP, they could forget everything I suppose.

  13. ‘Tun has become the Dapsters’ new BFF.’

Taklah Helen. Statement ni dah terover skit. Macam kata Helen dan HY* BFF sebab dua2 tak suka Tun M.

    Tak kan?

*the Cina bukit yang mampus hidup balik and not the Muniandy bini

    1. I don’t hate or dislike Tun. I’m just annoyed with his actions.

e.g. he introduces the idea that Malaysia is a ‘pariah state”.

Such usage by him desensitizes and legitimizes the word. Same like how “bangang” became en vogue after Najib terlepas cakap.

    2. re: “Macam kata Helen dan HY* BFF sebab dua2 tak suka Tun M.”

HY (not Madame Speaker) and I may be in agreement over some issue but I’m not going to start gushing over him, and nor him over me.

With the Dapsters who used to want to **** on Tun’s grave, now just because their agenda is now currently aligned, they’re suddenly elevating him to maksum.

It’s also like how they treat Zaid Ibrahim – from hero (when he resigned as Minister) to zero (after he resigned from PKR and in the process dissing Anwar). And then like a yoyo – he’s a visionary when what he says is music to their ears and a turncoat when he criticizes Pakatan.

So during the “up” periods with Zaid or with Tun, these Malays become the BFF for the Dapsters. Which is not to say that Tun reciprocates the Dapsters’ or LKS’s offer of friendship forever.

      1. I believe we can all agree that Dapsters are hypocrites, of the first order. What they say about Tun carries no weight with the Tun’s supporters. But that point is being used by the Tun’s detractors to show how much he has changed.

That is not the right conclusion. Dapsters are notoriously known to champion anyone who they can use to promote their agenda and I am sure Tun knows that. I don’t think you’ll find him attending a DAP function anytime soon.

Btw Helen, I have come to the conclusion that as far as the TDM vs PM goes I am going to have to agree to disagree with you

        1. re: “I am going to have to agree to disagree with you”

That’s okay. You’re still my favourite commenter.

Najib will prevail. Those who care about BN’s chances in 2018 will just have to get on with the programme.

Tun is not going to lead BN into the next election. The current Umno president is.

          1. TDM dan LKS dah berumur.

Generasi sekarang kalau Justin Beiber stand for election sure they will vote for him wan. Zaman skrg sembur ayaq lioq banyak2 mereka dah tak pandang.

Kalau pemimpin kita tak boleh memberi idea2 baru kepada mereka untuk maju kehadapan, elok lagi they surf the net and read of other leaders yang dapat membangun masa depan mereka.

Puak tua gaduh2 don’t interest them as they will not gain anything. They want to see results depan mata depa, bukan dulu, bukan kemarin tapi sekarang.

    1. Where’s The Justice on,

TDM dah tua. Yang faham tu faham la.

Australia pun masalah dalaman mereka apa kurangnya? What is there to be embarrassed about? Dulu TDM pernah bedal mereka kaw kaw.

Kamu ni. Asalkn apa saja mai dari negara oghang kulit putih2 dah berahi semacam nih? Masih takleh buang coolie mentality ke? UBAH la minda tu sikit.
