Should they be blamed if they didn’t know how to speak bahasa kebangsaan ,when vernacular education is allowed .

Just like asking European to eat rice ,when we gave them bread as well .

A lot of M’sian Chinese like to think of themselves as very clever.

So here’s a challenge for you all:

Master the 3 languages – BM, Chinese & English to the extent where you:
    – Can speak each one properly without accent
    – Can write proficiently in each one without spelling and grammar mistakes

    Boleh?

If you can, I salute you and honestly, you will find so many opportunities & new perspectives open to you that you’ll be a much happier and broad minded person.

Extra points to Gryffindor if you can be conversant in Tamil.

To be fair … the pendatang that came before them are illegal too UNLESS:

          1) they have become fluent and natural sounding in BM
          2) they have upgraded from just caring about their own culture to caring about the native culture on a deeper level … not because of votes … but because they honestly want to.

Any Chinese who has fulfilled those two conditions shall no longer be called pendatang and should be accorded a status of ‘native citizen’. Otherwise, I would prefer to call them ‘migrant citizens’ at the least.

Orang kat sana pun hormat aku sebab gigih belajar.

Kalau kat sini pun samalah. Kalau sungguh-sungguh nak belajar, mesti hormat diberi.

Tolong cerminkan diri sendiri. Sedih betul.

hanya satu jawapan kepada semua soalan; i.e. anak watan.

So tak lama lagi kena panggil PengWatan pulak dah!

    Boss Helen …
Re: Q (3) What do you call a Malaysian who prefers to speak anything but Bahasa Melayu?
    A (3) Evangelista

Isn’t this the same group that’s:
    – promoting the use of Al Kitab and hence … praying in Bahasa Melayu?
    – fighting for it’s rights to pray to ‘Tuhan Melayu’?

It seems there’s a whole lotta other meanings when referring to the word ‘evangelista’.
And I thought earlier that … I’ll be just having a lite Sunday hi hi hi

      Yes :D

I quite anticipated the Eighth Wonder of the World as to how that lot would try to deny the moral legitimacy of a national language.

That’s why I say – no hope, no cure for the kiasus.

What can you do? They have obviously not heard of evolution in relation to language. I bet if you tell them that the words cave, algebra and chemistry are derived from Arabic, they will jump all over you. English language itself has evolved to the simpler form that we use today after “borrowing” words from Greek, Latin, Sanskrit and Arabic.

Dia pun kelihatan seperti mengaru-garu kepala.
