Elon Musk has sent mini submarine pods for Thai boys trapped in cave

See videos below. Bravo.

Elon Musk is the billionaire boss of a space exploration company. The submarines were custom bulit by SpaceX from parts from a Falcon 9 rocket. The mini subs should be delivered to (reaching) Thailand a few hours from now.

They are said to be able to navigate the narrow passages of the cave tunnel.

Musk’s quick thinking out of the box is truly inspiring!

Eight more boys from the football team plus their coach are still waiting to be rescued from the flooded cave in Chiang Rai.

  1. Kerajaan Malaysia pula hantar apa? Kerajaan sekarang jenis tak kisah kalau terpaksa keluar duit dan tak untung. Tengok masa Hanipa Maidin jatuh, Mahathir buat selamba muka.

  2. The latest news is that :
    QUOTE:
He was politely told that a small submarine he offered rescue workers was surplus to requirements.

“Although his technology is good and sophisticated it’s not practical for this mission,” Narongsak Osatanakorn, the head of the joint command centre coordinating the operation, told reporters.
    UNQUOTE.

His mini-sub is workable in wide spaces but cannot bend and conform through one particularly narrow and twisting ‘choke point’ where the divers have to remove the tanks to squeeze through. His earlier inflatable tube may be better for this point, but the present rescue divers chose a simpler method of escorting the boys wearing full face masks through the various passages.

    1. Musk’s earlier inflatable tube idea was a big, bright lightbulb too. His swift action in delivering the goods is really commendable. Gives us hope of humanity in Twitter rather than the prolific poseurs “sending thoughts & prayers”.

Personally speaking, I’ve taken a basic/recreational PADI course before (in the past) and passed. However just the thought of doing any scuba diving today is scary even though I’m a good and experienced swimmer, what more if you’re an 11-year-old who doesn’t even know how to swim and in the midst of that emergency ordeal.

Am aware of the choke point but SpaceX can make the pod even more compact – also shorter – if the Thai boys are small. In the demo video, the sub fitted an adult white guy. Might be able to pass a (tight?) curve if there is one.

As for tunnel narrowness, the second video demo – Musk’s tweet above – shows the sub’s circumference so girth doesn’t appear to be a problem.

If I were in the situation, I’d opt to put my trust in ‘rocket’ technology. Don’t forget, a Thai navy seal has already died in the rescue ops.

  3. Elon Musk went to sekolah yahudi in South Africa.
No wonder he is such a great person.
Has any of the muslim countries offered any help beside pray pray and pray, if any?
