Snap elections, collapse of the centre

Umno and PAS will return to power sooner than you realise, and the 95 percent Chinese Harapan voters can thank the DAP for it.

Why the accelerated timeline?

Because snap elections are a trending thing. Continue reading “Snap elections, collapse of the centre”

DAP is terrified of Umno PAS Pribumi Perkasa Isma Malays

DAP is scared stiff – “don’t spook the Malays” – of trodding on even the majority race’s little toe.

Lim Kit Siang debating Najib could spark “racial tension” that might cause “ethnic conflict” to erupt, said PM-forever-in-waiting Anwar Ibrahim yesterday, as quoted in Malay newspaper Berita Harian.

Meanwhile, Kit Siang himself claimed that he decided not to proceed with the debate for fear it “could be turned into a Malay vs Chinese conflict”. Continue reading “DAP is terrified of Umno PAS Pribumi Perkasa Isma Malays”

One year of jostling to be Beloved Tun’s biggest fan

The following is a story told by Ian Chin, then a High Court judge (in 2008).

It happened in 1996 or thereabouts, as Chin recalled. A group of judges was having their picture taken with Mahathir. One particular judge – Chin recounted – “quickly planted himself behind the chair where Dr Mahathir was to sit”.

UPDATE: Chihuahua doing damage control on Matric

DAP parliamentarian Kelvin Yii has stepped up to ‘clarify’ that the university scholarships for Palestinians would NOT be funded by taxpayers.

But Mahathir had originally said the Malaysian government was offering the scholarships – listen yourself from the video below – when he made the announcement.

All the mock cheques for the scholarships as seen above are tagged JPT (Jabatan Pendidikan Tinggi) or Higher Education Department.

MCA vice president Ti Lian Ker wonders if the ‘D’ in DAP stands for (running) Dog?

Err, ‘Duplicitous’ possibly? Datuk Ti should ask former deputy education minister Datuk Chong Sin Woon, who might have some ministry insider knowledge, to get to the bottom of this disputed narrative.

The Maggi Mi price index — Harapan biannual review

Biannual is something that occurs twice a year (once every six months) whereas biennial is something that occurs once every two years.

Maggi Mi is the best B40 staple item to help us keep track of food prices. My regular blog commenter Surrhead noted a fortnight ago that he bought five packets of Maggi for RM4.50. More on this shortly. Continue reading “The Maggi Mi price index — Harapan biannual review”
