The Netherlands held its general election on Wednesday (March 17).
Voter turnout was high at almost 83 percent.
There are 150 seats in the Dutch parliament. Under their proportional representation system, the Party for the Animals is projected to win six seats!
Partij voor de Dieren (PVdD) focuses on protecting and furthering animal rights. It won five seats in the last Dutch election of 2017 (see results chart above).
PVdD is led by two-legged human activist Esther Ouwehand – below – who is an incumbent Dutch national MP, and the party has reps in the European parliament too.
