Be careful what you whinge — Syed Saddiq’s corruption cases

There is a popular saying ‘Be careful what you wish for’. Dapsters should be equally careful what they whinge about.

Syed Saddiq’s Cina DAP fan base think the ex-Harapan Youth chief is (future) prime ministerial material and that the corruption charges brought against him are politically motivated. 

Dapsters also suspect the executive branch of putting its thumb on the scale with regard to the judiciary.

Yesterday Umno’s Tengku Adnan made this very accusation against Mahathir relating to his indictment on corruption during the latter’s 2018 – 2020 tenure as Harapan prime minister. 

Let us review Mahathir’s actions upon assuming office as PM 2.0.

Mahathir appointed Guan Eng the Finance Minister as well as appointed an attorney general Tommy Thomas who has close ties to Guan Eng and served as his counsel.

The DAP sec-gen was sworn in as FM on 26 May 2018. The new AG took his oath of office shortly thereafter on June 5.

Barely three months later on Sept 3, Guan Eng was discharged from his Bungalowgate corruption case. 

So where did Dapsters get their idea from, i.e. that the government’s executive branch has an influence over the judiciary?
