MCA held an emergency meeting yesterday and it was past midnight when they released a statement.
The MCA politburo said no single party nor coalition can form a new stable government even if PN were to fall.
In other words, short of a fresh general election and given the current (albeit ever shifting) alignments of the present 220 MPs, any PM heading a minority government will be a lame duck.
Whoever is PM presiding over this current batch of 220 MPs is a sitting duck for the relentless potshots. Oh well, sticks and stones is the trademark of Malaysian oppo politics.
By expressing ‘no confidence’ in Muhyiddin, said MCA, the opposition(+plus) “will only drag the country into yet another deep-end of a political crisis”.
“Political stability is key to protecting lives and livelihoods,” the Chinese party asserted in its terse statement.
Strangely perhaps, MCA and PAS are now on the same page in their continued support for the Muhyiddin administration.
PAS is satisfied with the status quo of Malay (or to be more precise, Bumiputera) government.
MCA might be fearing that the only way to break the deadlock could mean having to bring DAP back into the picture — the so called ‘unity government’.
DAP’s return in any shape or form will make MCA a dead duck.
As things stand, Umno the party has withdrawn from the Perikatan government. It remains to be ascertained how many Umno MPs, i.e. Kluster Menteri, will individually choose to dig in and defy their party directive.
BELOW: All Saddiq needs to complete his bathtub is a rubber ducky
Muhyiddin is trying to buy himself a month’s reprieve to patch his leaking boat.
Meanwhile in a breaking news, Mahathir’s protege Syed Saddiq was this morning slapped with a further two charges of corruption in court.
This Boy Wonder beloved of the Dapsters is so vulnerable to charges, it’s like shooting ducks in a barrel.
Needless to say, DAP has geared up into a propaganda overdrive and Dapsters are hyperventilating from so much spin.
But what the Chinese have failed to internalize is how the Sheraton Move was an irrevocable game changer.
Post February 2020, the course direction for Malaysia has been set even if our country seems to be just limping along at the moment.
Whatever happens from this challenge to Muhyiddin’s premiership, the Malays will muafakat. The proverb ‘Carik-carik bulu ayam, akhirnya bercantum juga’ applies.
