Why Comango allowed inside but Muslim NGOs kept out?

An ‘interesting’ (if we can call it that) screed yesterday from The Nut Graph editor Jacqueline Ann Surin in her column. Her article ‘Malaysia’s pursuit of anarchy‘ talked about some “recent favourite targets for threats, hate speech and criminal intimidation”. Among the targets — the Christians, Teresa Kok, Malaysiakini and Comango, according to Jacqueline.

Why the Malays feel besieged

Isma vice president (II) Abdul Rahman Mt Dali released a press statement yesterday titled ‘Bumi ini bumi Melayu! Dunia jangan pertikai lagi‘.

Abdul Rahman said:

“Kita mahu dunia mengiktiraf  bumi ini sebagai warisan dan hak orang Melayu. Sama seperti dunia mengiktiraf benua Cina adalah hak warisan orang Cina dan benua India hak warisan orang India, England untuk Inggeris, Ireland untuk orang Irish dan Germany untuk orang  German dan seterusnya. More attacks on Utusan / Malaysian media is split in two

Today it comes from Jacqueline Ann Surin, editor of The Nut Graph who labels Utusan the “ethno-nationalistic Malay daily”/”ultra-nationalistic Malay paper” which has a “lack of journalistic ethics and professionalism”.

Jacqueline Ann Surin also says that “Utusan is notorious for publishing false, defamatory and racially divisive articles”.

Media pembangkang mendakwa “Muslims don’t own the word ‘Allah’; they never have”

Pengarang The Nut Graph Jacqueline Ann Surin dalam rencananya tentang kemelut kalimah Allah bertajuk ‘BN-style resolution to Allah issue‘ telah mendakwa perkataan ‘Allah’ bukan milik orang Islam serta puak Muslim tidak pernah pun memilikinya.

Membalun Menteri Agama Jamil Khir Baharom sebagai seorang yang tidak keruan percakapannya, Jacqueline Ann Surin menulis:

“Hence, Jamil Khir’s proposal for an interfaith dialogue is either a half-baked public relations exercise to demonstrate that the Malaysian government is fair to all, or, Allah help us all, the minister doesn’t know what he’s talking about.”
