Is KJ on his way out?

Umno Youth making a police report against MACC chief Abu Kassim, ex-AG Gani Patail and former Bank Negara governor Zeti is a deadly serious business.

However it was not Pemuda boss Khairy who had lodged the police report but his deputy Khairul Azwan.

Of late, KJ has been keeping a low profile. Rather than actively defending No.1 – like say ARD, SSK, Azalina, Nazri and Ismail Sabri – he has instead distanced his Pemuda Umno from the party president when traditionally it is the youth wing that takes up the cudgels. Why would an Islamic activist like Marina hate the Islamic law, asks 11 year old

Interesting question.

“Marina [Mahathir] claims to be a Muslim activist fighting for Muslim rights through an NGO called Sisters in Islam,” observes Ahmad Ali Karim, who’s 11.

This being so, why then did Marina say that she cannot live in a country where Islamic law is to be implemented?

Koyak lah when cabinet ministers begin channeling Marina Mahathir

In the mind of the ordinary rakyat, what we call the “government” usually equals the prime minister and his cabinet.

The government however further comprises “the entire federal public service from the highest to the lowest, including of course the police force and the armed forces”, according to Tun Mohamed Suffian Hashim, the late Lord President.

Tun Suffian also stressed that the government, although powerful, must nonetheless conform to the law. Continue reading “Koyak lah when cabinet ministers begin channeling Marina Mahathir”

Marina’s latest column on a “grotesque” leader

Marina Mahathir’s column in the J-Star yesterday was headlined ‘True leaders‘.

Marina begins by telling us that she is often asked if Malaysia will ever have a woman premier.

So, logically, we are to presume that the true leadership Marina elects to discuss in her article is the level presiding at the apex of power, i.e. prime ministerial. Continue reading “Marina’s latest column on a “grotesque” leader”

Najib Razak has now become “Mr Whoever”

Marina Mahathir in her press conference yesterday decried: “We are now known as a country where people grab bibles from a house of worship [sic].  Is that how we want to be known?”

[Note: The bibles were “grabbed” from this double-storey shoplot – below – which is not a house of worship but a storage and distribution centre. Marina erred in her statement.]

Dr M, his daughter and the middle-class malaise

A survey by Merdeka Center on the prime minister’s approval rating post-Bersih 3.0 showed that satisfaction with him remained very high still at 82% among lower income (<RM1,500 monthly) respondents.

However the poll found that only half of middle-class households (RM3,000-RM5,000/mth) were satisfied with the PM.
