MCA says The Star “is not Utusan” so kampung

Datuk Tee Lian Ker is a member of the MCA central committee.

He says “We gotta give due respect. @staronline is not Utusan. Thus give “space” [to the opposition].

Datuk Ti tweeted on 18 June 2013 that “By and large, Stars readership wanted a balance reporting thus…”

He asked: “You prefer Star to engage with the middle or lose their readership?”

tilianker@Akbar_Ali Or prefer Star to be like Utusan

Screenshot above: “Or prefer Star to be like Utusan reduced to hardcore readers only? Sudahsudahlah!!”

Datuk Ti’s views are representative of the MCA top leadership. He says: “[Every time] we have Ib Ali type of blast on innocent parties, we’re going to push more away…”

He also tweeted:

“All the issues that Star had front page & numerous articles favoring BN had caused Star readership [to drop] and now we are picking on @reginalah etc who is going to be @Khairykj press secretary

Datuk Ti’s next tweets a point of view that beg some hard probing:

Star is urban not kampung lah…Let’s tackle urban voters differently!”

When he says “Let’s tackle urban voters differently!”, I should like to know for whose benefit is The Star tackling urban voters?

J-Star‘s high class standard

The last tweet I wish to highlight of Datuk Ti Lian Ker’s is what he says about “Star readership is ‘middle’ thus we cannot set Utusan std on Star plz!”

By saying that the Star readership is “middle” and thus MCA and its media cannot be made to abide by the Utusan standards, is he implying that the Malay broadsheet – by not being middle – is “extreme”?

tilianker Utusan standards

Utusan has been alluded to as “racist” by The Star.

Utusan is also commonly vilified as Umno’s mouthpiece.

If that is what many opposition supporters believe Utusan‘s relationship is to Umno, then what is The Star‘s to the DAP, pray tell us?

Why is the MCA mouthpreach delivering DAP sermons?

What say Utusan in all of this?

Since Utusan is the maligned party by The Star, I feel that the MCA and its Jerusubang media should not be allowed to get away with having only their side of the story (justification) spread in the social media which is under the sway of the DAP.

Previously Sarah had informed us that we can make known hot issues to the Utusan editors.

  1. In the end, it is neither here nor there for The Star. Kesian. You lost pro-BN readers as well as pro-Opposition readers.

But how to support BN if the editors, the reporters and most of the workers who work at The Star are opposition supporters (judging by their Facebook and Twitter postings for example).

I think what people complaining is that you claim to support BN but at the same time you work against BN with sneaky-sneaky articles, the placing of pictures etc.

I don’t complain about Harakah because it is Lidah Pas.

Bila Tun Abdullah yang tidur tu ambil alih bertambah mengilalah The J-Star.

  3. So… aku rasa dah komfom le syak wasangka aku, bukan saja The Star ni mouthpreach DAP, staf2 dia scissorati DAP, tapi ahli central committee MCA pun orang DAP jugak. (Patutlah Cina MCA nak cari makan pun orang Melayu kena tolong suap).

So MCA tak payahlah pakai topeng lagi.

    1. Helen is not the ten-percenter. She is unique one in Malaysia. I can sense it from the many articles she wrote on Malaysiakini and several other websites on issues such as on the PPSMI and hudud.

  4. MCA’s response simply confirmed what Helen claimed all these while.. MCA members are actually DAP supporters. They use MCA to get the most benefit from BN govt but when it comes to voting, they will vote DAP. Good that all the masks are off now. Cukup-cukuplah baling batu sembunyi tangan..

    1. MCA is actually an DAP hand in Barisan ,orang Melayu kampong dah lama tahu ,orang Melayu bandar je yang tak tahu.

    2. I have noticed that the MCA top leadership avoids the subject of the brilliant Lee Kuan Yew with his failed 9 Policies for Singapore. This confirms they have assets like condos and bank accounts, relatives etc in Singapore.

  5. I’m not really sure about facts and figures here. But looking from outside, UMNO owns Utusan and MCA owns The Star. BN got back Malay votes. but BN lost Chinese votes.

Strategy gone wrong? Back-stabbing partner? What could be the reason?

  6. No wonder Ti was never MCA’s candidate in any GE… I am fine with the Star being oh! soooo urban!!! but it was the rural votes that won for BN and do remember that MCA candidates rides on rural Malay voters to put them in the corridors of power.

If it was oh! so urban, pray tell me why did it not win in the urban seats where MCA contested???? Does that mean the urban approach by the fading star failed? Backfired? or what???

Ti, I suggest you talk to Datu Adnan, Pahang MB and ask for a suitable location for your soon to be (the late MCA) burial grounds. In Pahang MCA lost in all seats except for Liow Tiong Lai. I guess your urbaness failed to gel in the rural areas huh????

A feeble excuse by Ti. The fact that MCA is not able to control MCA is as clear as daylight and a bloody shame…at least UMNO can control Utusan, (at least in the minds of DAP). That is why they keep on harping at Utusan being so called UMNO’s mouthpiece….

Can MCA claim The Star to be their mouthpiece????..Wonder who will write the obituary for MCA when it will be obliterated and totally demolished by DAP..and set the agenda where Chinese will be in Oppo, forever. Once Anuar is gone, the Malays will be back together, and the Chinese with their 89 seats will forever drfeam of Putrajaya…

Remember, the Malays have learnt their lessons well and it was a bitter lesson. The Malays will be the defenders of Islam, and country from communists, peddlers of illegal cds, fake goods and promoters of racial discord

    1. re: “Ti was never MCA’s candidate in any GE”

He was the Adun of Teruntum 2004-2008.

      1. I lot of MCA leader still tido lah. Hard when they dreaming the different dream than other people. In any other day I’m thinking that it is the star who control MCA not the other way around. Maybe the star fed MCA with a happy drug like pil kuda or ketamin or somethings….

        :() sarah

        1. re: “the star who control MCA”

LOL! Methinks you could be right. The tail wagging the dog.

      2. MCA leadership and candidates should not have bank accounts, condos, relatives etc in Singapore.

        1. Most rich CINA do, not only in Singapore but also in OZ. I know that for a fact, that’s how they evade taxes and as a sanctuary should the inevitable comes.

    2. Helen,

Utusan so “kampung?” Meaning to them, Utusan is for those not that :”smart’, “educated”,

Who says Utusan has no followers in urban areas. Only UMNO lost in many urban seats as though it was able to get the lion share of Malay votes, UMNO lost completely Chinese votes.

      1. re: “Who says Utusan has no followers in urban areas.”

I think the predicament of the Star mirrors that of the MCA.

If we position DAP and DAPsters as being LEFT, the MCA has 2 choices. It can be more LEFT than the DAP or it can be uniquely different form the DAP, in both look and in feel.

If it positions itself to the LEFT of the DAP, then its membership in BN would be as good as GONE. If it does not leave the BN, it would certainly be expelled.

After the Chinese tsunami, it is most difficult for the MCA to occupy the CENTRE (preaching the message of harmony, tolerance, give and take) mush less the RIGHT (extolling the virtues of altruistic support of the Malays and Bumiputras, to gain their rightful/fair share of the economy and opportunities).

In fact in the history of the MCA, it seldom preached to the Chinese voters the virtues of being CENTRE. The MCA is remembered for its undivided attention to the Chinese education and cultural matters, and its vocal protestations whenever it thinks the Chinese interests are threatened.

The MCA had never once publicly strongly supported the programs such as the NEP. In fact, it had openly voiced out ‘caveats’ on the NEP implementation.

The MCA had in fact been quite vocal against many other issues relating to the special rights and privileges of the Malays/Bumiputras. Thus, in Ops Lalang, many so called MCA leaders were arrested and detained.

This political formula is rendered obsolete by the DAP and the Chinese tsunami had made the MCA utterly without direction. Indeed it is now in ‘turun padang’ mode to ask the Chinese voters – for ideas.

The biggest irony was – Ops Lalang notwithstanding, the MCA still remained in the BN. Its MPs continued to be voted into Parliament on the back of overwhelming Malay votes. Yet in real terms, its struggles are counter to the interests of the Malays/Bumiputras.

The Chinese Tsunami could help the MCA to clear its thinking and to re-position the party to overcome its predicament. The MCA cannot be more LEFT than the DAP. They would be expelled from the BN.

The MCA must now preach the virtues of being CENTRE. This would reduce the burden on UMNO which had been preaching harmoni kaum since 1957.

Once the MCA had occupied the CENTRE and is able to convince enough Chinese voters to its NEW political positioning, and is confident that a large number of this group is loyal to the new political IDEOLOGY, then the MCA could reach out to the Malay voters by demonstrating itself as being RIGHT.

If the MCA is to be effective in solving this predicament, then it needs the Star to be on board. The Star contribution to the MCA must not be measured in terms of hundreds of millions of Ringgit in annual dividends, rather it must assist the MCA to reach out to the Chinese voters, with this NEW message, and political mantra.

Is the Star ready or even willing ??

    Thanks

    1. EK,

re: “the predicament of the Star mirrors that of the MCA”

The predicament-cognitive dissonance of The Star is that its preferred colour is red (when in mufti) but forced to don the blue uniform to work, and perpetually bitching and backbiting its employer and carrying out industrial espionage and covertly assisting the rival company.

re: MCA “can be uniquely different form the DAP, in both look and in feel”

I feel that MCA is essentially decent enough in spite of some hiccups. With DAP 3.0, I’m certain the decency is not there.

The DAP northern marauders sacked DAP South during the GE13 sweep into the state led by LKS. The present Johor DAP chairman (Chinese), his deputy (Indian) and their vice-chairman (Malay) will most definitely not feature in the line-up after the state holds its party elections in a few months time.

B’cos of the above (Johor DAP experience) reason, there can be no viable internal challenge to the Lim Dynasty. Therefore 3.0 will be a mirror of Guan Eng’s soul and his evangelista coterie.

re: “If it does not leave the BN, it would certainly be expelled.”

Realistically, what are the chances of this?

I was thinking more in the vein of letting nature take its course, i.e. if given just all the Chinese-majority seats to contest, it will lose every single one and by GE14, the MCA seat count will be zero through the party’s own non-performance.

re: “After the Chinese tsunami, it is most difficult for the MCA to occupy the CENTRE (preaching the message of harmony, tolerance, give and take)”

I can see the centre POV but my blog has limited readership. The MCA has had the last 5 years to convey some commonsense – the big picture, the long term interests of the Chinese – through its media leviathan but instead it allows The Scissors shout Jerusubang from the rooftops.

re: “much less the RIGHT (extolling the virtues of altruistic support of the Malays and Bumiputras, to gain their rightful/fair share of the economy and opportunities)”

      You’re prefectly correct.

re: “The MCA is remembered for its undivided attention to the Chinese education and cultural matters, and its vocal protestations whenever it thinks the Chinese interests are threatened.”

Bitter, bitter irony, innit? Its protestations against hudud was used by the DAP against it to portray the MCA as anti-Islam by the Scissorati. Its defence of Chinese education is collided with the Bangsa Malaysia ideology propagated by The J-Star and incurring the hostility of the 1School abolitonist movement.

re: “The MCA had never once publicly strongly supported the programs such as the NEP. In fact, it had openly voiced out ‘caveats’ on the NEP implementation.”

B’cos it protects the Chinese interests. And now the Chinese are cursing and swearing and kicking at MCA like the party were a “dog” (I hate the meanness and pettiness of the description but “running dog” is the favourite slur of the Bintang Tiga). The irony is so bitter that it’s gall and what’s more galling is that the MCA is still coddling the viper in its bossom.

re: “Indeed it is now in ‘turun padang’ mode to ask the Chinese voters – for ideas.”

It is incapable of listening. For one, a lot of us are telling the MCA that it must rein in the backstabbing scissors. No sign that the message has registered, going by TLK’s series of tweets.

re: “Yet in real terms, its struggles are counter to the interests of the Malays/Bumiputras.”

Hahahaha. This reflects on Umno, ROTFL.

re: “The Chinese Tsunami could help the MCA to clear its thinking and to re-position the party to overcome its predicament.”

I seriously evaluate the MCA to have reached the end of the road. The DAP will get the next round (registration of eligible voters) of Chinese youth b’cos it can get on the same wavelength.

If you look at the slate of the DAP Aduns, they’ve got a number of young ones (late 20s to early 30s) and DOCTOR (PhD) OKM is relatively young for an MP.

MCA totally lacks the youth outreach despite its media being so much in the media hi-tech loop. Which further goes to show that The J-Star‘s digital savvy has been employed only to the benefit of DAP 3.0.

And another thing, if you’ll just spend a little time browsing the Malaysian church websites, you can see how attractively they have packaged their youth programmes.

re: “The MCA cannot be more LEFT than the DAP. They would be expelled from the BN. The MCA must now preach the virtues of being CENTRE.”

You saw how the MCA president, deputy and Youth chief immediately jumped into the Jonker Walk fray.

re: “Once the MCA had occupied the CENTRE and is able to convince enough Chinese voters to its NEW political positioning, and is confident that a large number of this group is loyal to the new political IDEOLOGY”

Chance of this happening is like the proverbial snowflake in hell. The Chinese voters are in a vice grip of hate. Look at how they bashed up the Bangladeshis on polling day.

re: “then the MCA could reach out to the Malay voters by demonstrating itself as being RIGHT”

Since the earlier step is unreachable, this one is a bridge too far.

re: “If the MCA is to be effective in solving this predicament, then it needs the Star to be on board.”

Sigh. You wanna repeat the same experiment again (2008) and again (2013) and hope for a different result in 2018?

re: “The Star contribution to the MCA must not be measured in terms of hundreds of millions of Ringgit in annual dividends, rather it must assist the MCA to reach out to the Chinese voters, with this NEW message, and political mantra.”

Do pls recall the City Harvest Church’s Gospel of Prosperity. MCA chose the ducats rather than the daughter (Shakespeare’s Merchant of Venice). If their DNA is like that, and they’re hardwired like that, very had to hope for the leopard to change its spots.

re: “Is the Star ready or even willing ??”

Sharpening the poison-tipped blades even as we speak. Die, MCA, die!!!

      Thanks

      1. Both the Singaporean Trojan Horse DAP and the MCA are exposed in the Malaysian political firmament like new born babes. What a mess for Malaysian Chinese politics if any ?

        1. What do you in your wisdom (having eaten more salt that I have rice) suggest that we-Chinese-mm do?

I believe MCA is a hindrance, getting in the way of the battle royale.

There can only be one logical outcome for GE14: Umno+satelites vs DAP+satelites

Chinese support, say, hits 95% which only leaves the question, how high can the Malay support for Umno reach?

Now that the DAP has taken those Chinese crouched under their “care” into a cul-de-sac, what’s next?

To preempt one line of argument, I do not reckon that MCA will be able to recover. DAP is going too far and too fast.

          mm = minority-minority

          1. IF THE CHINESE, MALAYSIAN CHINESE, HAVE ANY WISDOM and if they are really Chinese, they should be both ANTI-MCA AND ANTI-DAP and practice PATIENCE.

We do not need a rocket scientist from Singapore to work this one out ! Just a wee pinch of salt will do.

              1. Ms H. Have patience! Watch the lips ! There will be a choice of political shells – MCA, Gerakan, PPP even DAP ! Why not we form our own in time as an NGO starting with you as Sec.Gen or a multi-racial one with Tunku Abdul Aziz as President ?

IT IS OBVIOUS IN TIME AND WITH PATIENCE THERE IS A NEED FOR A REAL PROFESSIONAL POLITICAL BODY TO FILL THE GAP BETWEEN THE BLACK AND THE WHITE !

                1. With your own NGO or Party, you will have a cast of milions and millions of real good Malaysians below the age of 45. Maybe MERDEKA PARTY is a good name when we were all as one.

MONEY IS NO PROBLEM. See the foreign billions of dollars thrown to waste. YOU THINK THE SPONSORS ARE HAPPY ?

                  1. Not that easy to start a political party lah. Even a good one like PSM got such a shoddy deal in GE13.

                    1. Ms H. It is only MONEY, MONEY, MONEY. Vide. NST today. The very respectable and distinguished Ex-Vice President of Indonesia comments. See the unfit donkeys all over the place talking cock (to use a classic Malaysian euphemism !)

                    2. “Not that easy to start a political party lah. Even a good one like PSM got such a shoddy deal in GE13.”

Ideally everyone has the Grandest Good Intention to do the Grandest Good Deed when he/she is a “nada” . When he or she got the power “dah lain jadinya dan dah banyak contoh dari sejak azali lagi”

“Kalau nak tahu orang tu baik atau tidak beri dia kuasa”

                    3. re: “Kalau nak tahu orang tu baik atau tidak beri dia kuasa”

Tepat sekali. DAP baru diberi kuasa, tengoklah perangai dema.

MCA dan Umno sudah memegang tampuk kuasa selama setengah abad. Mahupun diakui BN ada serba-serbi kekurangannya, tapi they handle power better bukan macam DAP yang kaduk naik junjung.

  8. Already stopped subscription of The Star. Just good for selling paper to suratkhabar lama, so many advertisements. Also deleted bookmark of The Star. Replaced with NST subscription.

  9. Mr. T, tak malukah terima datukship dari sultan Melayu. Kalau dah kondem Malay mouthpiece@ Utusan Melayu, suggest you return your honorary Malay title back to our Malay Sultan.

    1. With Jonker Street being business as usual, there is nothing that the urban voters can be proud of but malu big time with the kampung voters of their hypocrisies of trying to tell the kampung voters, of them (being holier than thou, konon) voting along the lines of wanting good governance, transparency, anti rasuah and upheld of the law and order, which BN has been lacking of late, according to these urban voters.

But thank God, the Jonker Street episode had shown the kampung voters that there is nothing straight about the urban voters except for their ironed hair. Their double speak tikam belakang kaki penipu nature is very showing with TLK remarks.
They would feel ashamed of themselves should they have any maruah left, but I doubt it!

      1. re: “(being holier than thou, konon) voting along the lines of wanting good governance, transparency, anti rasuah and upheld of the law and order”

They will get all out of their crap shoved up their ass, sooner rather than later.

        1. It takes a lot of discipline and will not to be corrupted by the easy climate and easy money of Malaysia !

  10. The Malaysian Chinese experience with the Singaporean Trojan Horse DAP is still very early days. Let us have some patience and see how the unholy trinity pans itself out. Time will tell.

PLEASE REMEMBER IT IS NOT WHAT THE CHINESE MALAYSIAN CHINESE WANT BUT WHAT THE RULING GOVERNMENT CAN GIVE WILL DETERMINE THE ATTITUDE OR SUPPORT OR NON-SUPPORT OF THE CHINESE.

A strong ruler is easier to deal with than a weak one. This has proven in the Chinese Analects. With the DAP leadership head-butting the BN stone wall, it is interesting to see the results of all these heroics eg. is this all a show with thick smoke and opaque mirrors or what ?

  11. “PLEASE REMEMBER IT IS NOT WHAT THE CHINESE MALAYSIAN CHINESE WANT BUT WHAT THE RULING GOVERNMENT CAN GIVE WILL DETERMINE THE ATTITUDE OR SUPPORT OR NON-SUPPORT OF THE CHINESE.”

EVEN WE THE MALAY GAVE THE DAP CHINESE THIS COUNTRY IT IS STILL WON”T BE GOOD ENOUGH TO THEM. THEIR NEXT MOVE IS TO KICK THE MALAYS OUT OF THIS LAND. SINGAPORE AND PENANG ARE EXHIBIT A and B RESPECTIVELY.

    1. I support you lol, 101%. Without the Malays and the Bumiputras in Malaysia, THE COUNTRY HAS NO MEANING FOR ME.

    2. lol. It is obvious the present conundrum affecting the country and the Chinese, the Malaysian Chinese, had the ground work performed between 2003 to 2009 when the PAP cadres were parachuted into the post of Chief Editor, of the UMNO owned NSTP and the doors of the Khazanah were wide opened for the PAP chaps to take their best picks which gave rise to the famous Singapore inspired Malaysian saying of ‘LOW HANGING FRUITS’ for the picking ! And no GOODIES WERE OFFERED TO THE RAKYAT OR PROLETARIAT especially political parties like the MCA etc who has also to take the blame for being sleeping on the job for decades !

      1. Care to tell everyone else why PAP has been growing population via their new-citizen (particularly from mainland China) ? Based on these factors:

        1. PAP own survival as you can read from the last GE result they had?

        2. Eventuality – Singapore is nothing without FDI and in 2008 economic crisis has sent them early signal.

  12. What do we care about MCA anyway… they backstabbed UMNO and BN….. enuf said …. Malays will take revenge… take note yaaaaa…

    1. Post a comment at PM Najib FB as follows: ” If you keep giving face to the CINA DAP e.g. the recent Jonker Street Reversed Decision, Cina yang memaki Raja-Raja Melayu dan menghina Islam dalam FB, we will start lobbying for PAS to be out of PAKATAN and vote them en-block in the next PRU14 “

  13. All this time I always thought The Star as an English language daily that reflects the Malaysian Chinese anyway, an easier accessible one since I can’t read Nanyang or Sin Chew.

It’s just that to me it seems this blog has implied that there’s a new current among the Chinese now, a current that been used well by DAP to garner almost total Chinese support at the probably accepted expense of the Chinese component of BN.

The thing is with this article posting about the Star claiming Utusan as kampung, it’s probably true that The Star is of urban mindset, and there’s a divide between urban liberal Malays and rural conservative Malays. Thus The Star, actually representing not only the Chinese, or urban Chinese, but the liberal mindset of urban Malays. That probably explains some Malay support for Pakatan, though PAS I don’t understand. Then the scissors problem, wouldn’t be coming from MCA alone.

Probably the Chinese has a conservative kampung like Utusan paper as well, but I would never know since I can’t read the Chinese version of Utusan, and this blog is more attuned to problems with The Star.

On an unrelated note, my favorite part of newspapers are the funny strips anyway. Papers these days don’t think much of that anymore. At least there’s still the internet.

    1. re: “the scissors problem, wouldn’t be coming from MCA alone”

But you can’t blame the liberal Malays (let’s take columnist Zainah Anwar as one example) who are associated with the paper b’cos they are free agents, unlike the Scissorati paid employees of The Star, and particularly the ones who received their titles because they of their Star status.

Secondly, there is no public perception that Zainah is associated with any political party. She is the famous face of an NGO.

It’s different with The Star which the public are misled to believe represents and speaks for the MCA.

The paper has on board the liberal Malays as its columnists because, like Zainah, they channel the Lims,

e.g. as I’ve pointed out with the Zainah piece, her use of the Ubah stock phrases — “change”, “transparency and accountability”, “free press”, “free and fair elections”, “abuse and misuse of power”, etc.

Zainah’s article amplifies the DAP political campaign. Hence The Star is responsible for the favourably oppo message contained in the columns by its many Malay columnists.

I see your point here – in the paragraph above – but essentially the liberal Malays are the tools used by The J-Star Evangelista (just like the PAS fatwa-a-crowd are tools duped by Anwar for cannon fodder in his rallies).

It’s a case of the gun and the shooter. The intent and the pulling of the trigger belongs to the agency behind the gun.

Ultimately BN must hold the owner of The Star accountable. There are no two ways about this, and the sooner the better.

      1. I don’t know about holding The Star accountable.
Like I said I believed the news paper to reflect the Chinese community, so I’m actually comparing The Star to a mirror.

Why break the mirror when the problem is with the one’s using it?

On the other hand, I really don’t know how accurate that sentiment is, but election results seem to agree with the notion that the Chinese are currently with the opposition now.

Unless if I were to argue that people are just sheep controlled by what they choose to read and watch, and it was The Star that made the people vote opposition instead of just showing that they are just playing along with the BN government but plan to vote opposition anyway.

Additionally, it actually does a good job of illustrating how the supposedly MCA mouth piece is infiltrated by opposition sympathisers. For all I know the problem is with the MCA as well, but not limited to MCA.

At least the Chinese in BN are limited to their Chinese parties, the Malays in The Star paper is easy to see because they write what they think and they’re paid for what they write, but the Malays in UMNO and GLCs who hold party positions and have jobs helming large national companies? The people leading supposedly non partisan NGOs? The people of the bar and the judiciary? I don’t know.

I’m sounding as paranoid as Americans during Cold War now, but I think communists still work as a scary bogeyman for Malaysians nowadays.

And all this talk about supposedly urban and rural people subscribing to different kind of newspapers, it probably really is with the Malays. I have no idea how is it with the Chinese. Am I the only one?

Honestly speaking, before regularly coming to this blog I have no idea that there’s supposedly an evangelical movement in Malaysia and that DAP is part of it, or taking advantage of it. Am I the only one like that here?

I don’t know what the Chinese consider about other Chinese being Christians and all, for the Malays (about Malays being Christian) I don’t need to say anything. I think even Chinese like you would know that.

        1. Christian Malays banyak la kat Sabah dan Sarawak.

Kelabit, Orang Ulu, Kadazan Dusun Murut etc jurai-jurai Melayu.

Some of them are even ahli UMNO.

Murtad is another story among Muslims and not exclusive to Malays alone.

      2. Helen, saya setuju bahawa BN (kerajaan) MUST hold the owner of the Star accountable.

        1. Hm, Utusan is more deserving of being brought to justice, if we look at their recent inflammatory articles and editorials.

If the Star is to be brought to court, it should be for product placements disguised as news and trying to fool readers that it is balanced when it really is an MCA mouthpiece.

as fas as business, they sell everything, the sky is the limit – mana ada haram-halal; janji masyuk!

[walaupun aku hanya melayu kampung, aku tahu itu semua sebab dah lama bergaul dengan bangsa majoriti penipu ni. aku didik untuk bergaul tanpa mengira kaum. bila dah berpuluh tahun… aku yakin majoriti cina sebenarnya bertuhankan duit…. ]

entah dah berdekad mereka berlakon kenakan UMNO. tapi UMNO tetap ngok, tak mau ambil tindakan.

zaman TDM dulu MCA tak berani tunjuk taring dan kuku. sekarang ni sebab UMNO dah jadi jelly, MCA naik atas kepala UMNO dan kencing di sana.

    1. “kesetiaan mereka hanya kepada duit. di mana ada taik di situ ada lalat; di mana ada kangtau (masyuk duit) di situ ada cina.”

Nampaknya En. Asingkiri tidak pernah melawat ke Perhimpunan Agung UMNO. : )

      1. haha lawak gaban beruk ni sekoq. ingat aku ahli umno ka? anti DAP tak semestinya pembodek UMNO.

assumption is the mother of all screw-up. no?

sakit hati ke? kena batang hidung cina ke?

        1. Hey, engkau kata orang Cina setia kepada duit, saya bagi contoh Perhimpunan Agung Umno dimana politik wang berleluasa. Belum lagi sentuh Khir Toyo bekas MB Selangor dan Kak Sharizat dengan ladang lembunya.

Berdolak-dalik, akhirnya Si Asingkiri terjatuh dari pokok. Ha ha ha!

            1. “…so, pi la ketuk tin, sambil menari, hahaha.”

Cina memang bertuhankan duit, hidup mati pun dengan duit (My apology to the 5% Chinese). Nak masuk TOKONG pun Kena bayar at least RM50 (this is somewhere in Taman Desa not sure every else), Nak mati pun kena bayar ribu-ribu ringgit dan di tipu hidup-hidup oleh pengusaha-pengusaha “Funeral Service”.

                lol,
kalau nak jumpa TOKONG terbesar di penang kena bayar berapa agaknya?

                1. “kalau nak jumpa TOKONG terbesar di penang kena bayar berapa agaknya?”

Tenguk kerani yang tukang taip tu pandai komputer ke tak. Dah banyak kali dah kes silap komputer dan kira kat TOKONG tu.

              2. “Nak masuk TOKONG pun Kena bayar at least RM50”

                1. Ha ha ha ha ha kui kui kui kui pui pui pui pui

Bila masa UMNO ada Perhimpunan Awam? Kat mana buat, Pasar Awam ka? Menganggu ketenteraman Awam tak ACDC?

Funny la u, Perhimpunan Awam UMNO, nampak sangat RedBean lowclass, sama macam the great Tokong LGE!

                  1. Perhimpunan Agung UMNO.

So nanti bila kamu pergi beri wang di situ supaya dapat kontrek, jangan lupa kutuk orang Cina “bertuhankan duit”, ok?

                2. “Saya ada melawat banyak tokong di Malaysia. Tak payah bayar wang masuk pun. Hanya ada kotak di luar untuk wang derma.”

                  You must be joking right?

(that includes PAS dengan TABUNG TIN MILOnya)

FYI, I studied eastern religion in college which includes Buddhism, Taoism, Hinduism etc.

If you care to read, Buddhism is not a form of a religion but a way of life according to Buddha. He never considered himself as GOD or the holly one, but only the enlightened one. Only the followers idolize him as such.

I can also tell you what is Samsara and Bodhi Sati in hinduism which in a way has influenced the Buddhist and “Toaist ” in their own version.

                  1. Buddhism places a premium on Truth and truth-seeking. Something that the Dapsters and evangelistas will never understand.

                    1. “Something that the Dapsters and evangelistas will never understand.”

Itu sebabnya BETTY BOTAK botakkan kepala….

                  2. ROTFL terguling-guling… sebab ayat “you must be joking right” beruk tu mmg pandai buat lawak.

buku ni bagus utk simple approach memahami Taoism:

lecturer aku yg tulis. (promo sket)

                  3. “You must be joking right?”

Nope, aku memang serius. Kalau kamu tak percaya, pergi lawatlah tokong Cina berhampiran. Usahlah takut, takkan keluar Islam kalau awak pergi lawat punya. Ha ha ha

                    1. Ha ha ha, kan senang bila dah mengaku RedBean, dengan toilet bowl BM kamu, tentulah kamu itu orangnya Malaysia first dari kami semuanya…

Amacam pandai tak aku pura-pura jadi Cina RedBean? Lu mana sekolah?

                      hahahahahahahaha

                    2. “Nope, aku memang serius”

Yupe you are seriously RETARDED.

Kalau ikut hukum SAMSARA (circle of life), kau ni dulunya dalam hidup yang terdahulu adalah seekor KERA di Taman Botani Pulau Pinang, dalam kehidupan sekarang kau RED BEAN Army, selagi diri kau tu masih tak suci dan boleh mencapai Bodhi Sati dan Nirwarna, YOU NEXT LIFE MUST BE A FART (due to too much bean).

Don’t worry as FART you won’t be seen by us the mortal, but we can hear your loud “KENTUT” and smell your “STINKING SMELL” where ever you are; a reflection of your current life incidentally.

Jangan lupa wasiatkan pada keluarga kau bakarkan “perfume effigy” in preparation of your next life.

                    3. “kau ni dulunya dalam hidup yang terdahulu adalah seekor KERA di Taman Botani Pulau Pinang”

KERA kat Botani Garden memang selalu diberi makan kacang oleh pengunjungnya.

  15. This is news that will make Malaysian Chinese proud Penny Wong, the openly lesbian Malaysian born Aussie politician has become the no. 3 most powerful politician in Australia after the PM and his Deputy.

“Meanwhile, Malaysian-born Penny Wong was elected unopposed as leader in the Senate which makes her the third most powerful politician in Australia after the prime minister and his deputy.”

      1. Believe it or not, I am related through marriage to Penny Wong, Tun H.S. Lee, Malaya’s First Finance Minister and the brilliant Lee Kuan Yew with his 9 failed Policies for Singapore !

      2. “My mother’s family can trace its origins back to my ancestor Samuel Chapman, one of the original settlers in South Australia, who arrived on the Cygnet in 1836.”

        Tak mengaku asal CINA TONGKANG

            1. Sawadeekap!, masuk pintu keluaq tingkap.

Pai nai, pai rok pang, roti canai sebijik 8 kupang.

              haha!

  16. Ti Lan Ker has got a point there. If the Star were to take a far-right editorial stance like Utusan it will lose readership, just like what happened to the Utusan. Publishing obviously biased news or creating untrue stories of your opponents will not get the people over to your side if they have access to the internet media.

I had a chat with a NST mid-level journalist last year. Her opinion is the paper’s huge loss in readership is caused by the management going overboard in supporting Barisan Nasional. Their idea was the readers will turn back to supporting the Barisan Nasional if they were saturated with pro government articles and news. Instead, the readers felt they were being dictated to and consequently circulation dropped.

        1. I guess that is why I started reading Harian Metro many years already and no more the Star…..

Letih kalau terlalu banyak berita pasal orang politik…..!

          1. Tapi at one time ada that guy from BintangTiga paper kritik Harian Metro punya editorial, macam petty, tak mencerminkan sebagai No 1 Malaysian Dailies…tapi sebenarnya jealous and try to discredit HM nak bagi advertisers lari!

  17. Fellas – I have raised this phenomena a few times in the past in Helen’s blog, but no one has been able to explain to me the irony of it.

Collectively, STAR Media was reportedly to have more than 5 millions readers. But the opposition supporters hate the STAR since it is MCA owned and labelled it as UMNO lap dog newspaper. They call for boycott of the STAR. They trash STAR at every opportunity they get in the social media.

Now BN supporters are increasingly calling for the same action; boycott the gunting dalam lipatan, STAR. Helen writings have conclusively show that STAR is indeed musuh dalam selimut BN.

So, who the heck are the 5 million plus STAR readers, if both sides of the political divide are boycotting the STAR? Govt agencies and their staff? Dont think so.

    1. Both sides of the divide are bashing The J-Star b’cos it is the worst talam dua muka.

I agree with the oppo supporters that the paper spins anti-Pakatan stories too. They are bipolar and schizophrenic and that’s why they’re worse than a directly one-sided media outlet whether Utusan or Malaysiakini.

re: the 5.63 million audience figure provided by the Star deputy chairman refers to all in — those who read the paper as well as online, who listen to the four Star radio stations, watch the Star’s SwitchUp.tv, the many magazines like Galaxie, Red Tomata (a Chinese weekly paper), and under publications in the Star stable. etc.

re: “Govt agencies and their staff? Dont think so.”

Yes, apparently govt offices & GLCs subscribe to the paper. Must persuade them to cancel their subscription.

If it is any consolation, Ambiga & Haris Ibrahim have called for a boycott of The Star and the rest of what they see as the gomen press.

      1. now im beginning to imagine that the WCW is like a sotong with 3 heads; one head bowing to MCA (STL), the other one to DAP (the Scissoraties), and the third one kow-towing to STAR board of directors (his original head).
