Bersih 4.0: “Selamat jalan Najib Razak”

“The only community that will vote against BN will be the Sarawak Chinese community, which is likely to be the case in the upcoming Sarawak elections.” – James Chin (bawah)

Twitter - hannahyeoh this is y race-based politics

@hannahyeoh: “This is why race-based politics continue – MCA claims credit for SJK(C), MIC  SJK(T) and Umno for Ketuanan Melayu.”

Folks, let’s move beyond race! – Hannah Yeoh

Chinese schools are race-based. Get on with the Malaysian First programme already!

Memang betoi tu Cik Helen.

Unified Examination Certificate mereka bukan laku sangat kecuali PRC, Taiwan dan Singapore.

Singapore BI requirements agak tinggi tapi takpa. Kerja kilang situ with overtime easy can earn Sgd2K. Nak save lagi kena sacrifice tiap hari ulang alik johore.

    Betoi tak Rithmatist and HH?

It does not mean that something has to be guaranteed in FedCon in order for it to be legal. We have Parliament Acts and State Enactments. What important is these laws do not contradict the FedCon.

    1. Legality is not the question. The nub is a civilizational clash with the Malay polity. Like why some Malays are freaked out by the sight of a cross but not at the sight of a Buddhist swastika.

Take China. Their officials are removing crosses from church rooftops on the technical reason of non-compliance with building by-laws. But we know that’s only an excuse. China has the political will to crack down on the evangelical movement.

If the Malaysian government wants, it can allow the vernacular school system to remain. If it doesn’t, it’ll find some justification or other to close the schools.

In the past, there have been the sporadic grumblings by the Malay nationalists against Chinese schools but it never mounted to any concrete government action / policy to dismantle.

But that was when MCA had bargaining power and Gerakan had a substantial number of seats too plus control of Penang. Today the Chinese have no leverage in the BN. Thus Umno can do what it likes. It no longer has to jaga hati the MCA or Chinese voters.

So far, the government has tolerated but not encouraged Chinese schools. There have been ‘no’ new ones built. The number of Chinese schools have remained the same over the last three decades when they should have expanded through natural growth because there are more kids today than there was 30 years ago.

What might happen in future wrt this matter depends on the PERSON. The person of a larger-than-life public figure like Tun made a lot of things happen on his sheer will – he built Putrajaya, you know. He’s actually the founder of a city.

If someone influential in Cabinet pushes it, some changes might take place. Also note the inclusion of Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki as a Deputy Minister for (de facto) Islamic Affairs. He’s going to make things happen on the religious front. You heard it here first.
