Perpatah tentang durian dan timun

1. There’s a saying, Durian dengan mentimun, menggolek rosak, kena golek binasa. This is the situation facing the Chinese minority in Malaysia. In our case, the Chinese are of course the metaphorical cucumber. Malays are the buah durian.

Niat murtadkan Melayu: Christians should stop pretending already

It was Anwar Ibrahim who empowered the evangelistas. However with ketum now in jail, the beleaguered Islamists can start to lift the seige.

With this Malay protector of the evangelical Christians out of the picture, besieged Muslims can also begin the process of reclaiming their kalimah Allah.

Malays need to beat back the evangelistas. Continue reading “Niat murtadkan Melayu: Christians should stop pretending already”

Pakatan people, what kind they are

Regular readers will recall that I’ve blogged previously about the conditions in jail and the treatment of Uthayakumar in Kajang prison, gleaned from my monthly visits to him.

There is a related Malaysiakini story today and Dr Suresh’s comment below is pinched from ‘Hindraf members in fear of sedition dragnet‘.

It hints at what kind of people the Dapsters are. Continue reading “Pakatan people, what kind they are”

Should PAS take up Umno’s unity offer?

A Sin Chew editorial yesterday was headlined, ‘PAS drops the substance for the shadow‘.

Sin Chew said:

“Part of the reason for PAS’ political force expansion is because it gains votes from non-Muslims with the help of PKR and DAP. However, it now kicks away the ladder and presents the hudud law bill without caring about the interests of non-Muslims. PAS cares only about hudud law and it might cost it a heavy price in the next general election.”

Beaten on head with mop stick by beautician

Last week on Feb 10, the magistrate’s court in Hong Kong found a former beautician guilty on 18 counts of abusing her maid Erwiana Sulistyaningsih.

Erwiana had described to the court how her employer Law Wan-tung shoved a metal vacuum cleaner tube into her mouth and twisted it, causing her lips to bleed.

Law also hit Erwiana on the head with a mop handle Continue reading “Beaten on head with mop stick by beautician”

Anwar cannot be the cure for our politics as he was its chiefest poison

1. Anwar Ibrahim did nothing to reform the system when he was an insider. And mind you, he was sitting at its apex and even acting as prime minister between May and July 1997.

He did nothing towards a repeal of the ISA, OSA, Emergency Ordinance or Sedition Act. Nor did he roll back the restrictions imposed by the Societies Act and the UUCA.

2. In the 16 years that Anwar was rising up the Umno ranks until he was a heartbeat away from the very pinnacle, he made no changes for the better from the inside. Continue reading “Anwar cannot be the cure for our politics as he was its chiefest poison”

Anwar verdict splitting Malaysia in two

Irma, a reader of this blog, commented @ 2015/02/10 at 8:23 pm,

“If you read the trending tweets, about 80 per cent supporting Anwar and kutuk-ing govt seem to be non-Malays. Very seditious and racist comments, too. Also contempt of court. Let’s see if authorities act against them.”

This happens not only in Twitterverse but elsewhere too – in the social media (Facebook) and in blogosphere.

Hannah Yeoh: “A mockery of our democratic institution”

Excerpts from article by Hannah Yeoh, originally published in Anwar Ibrahim’s blog.

“Anwar Ibrahim exhausted the constitutional means that were available to him,” wrote the YB Jerusubang. These words of Hannah Yeoh are unintendedly ironical.

Granted, they were written in a different con-text. However should we to apply them to the just concluded sodomy trial in the Federal Court, then Madame Speaker’s pronouncement is indeed apt – yesterday Anwar finally exhausted all the judicial means provided him by our constitution. Christian-led group rejects free Quran, calls gift-giving project “obnoxious”

The Malaysian Consultative Council of Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Sikhism and Taoism appears to believe the faith of non-Muslims is so fragile (begitu rapuh iman kami) that just by being exposed to the Quran, we will convert to Islam.

The MCCBCHST also seems to think that non-Muslims are easily confused and merely by reading a Quran, our original religious beliefs will be compromised (kami dipesongkan akidah).
